- Team Liquid are out of playoff contention. They bombed out of the Spring Split in what’s now the biggest downfall in LCS history. The guy taking the brunt of the team’s criticism was Doublelift.
Doublelift under-performing was bad. But his attitude at the start of spring is what really got the community fired up.

Feel like Doublelift is just too burned after all these years, to the point where he just don't want to give a fk anymore. It's bad but I think if I spent 8 years on league, I prob say "fk it" at one point too.
Except this isn't the first time this has happened. At least last time he had the grace to bench himself.
The problem is that it's not just "league" anymore, it's his job. I know if I publicly announced that my job was too easy and that I didn't care and then proceed to do a shit job, I'm fired within a week's notice. This is not an acceptable way to go about things and he either needs to grow up and remember that he has a job that's not just "league" or retire, because that's what's gotten all of the TL members, not just DL, in this mess.

DL really was at times the best ADC NA. When ever he was on top, he def treated it like he didn't care. I think that has a lot to do with how he looks at the international stage. He knows NA just couldn't compete a majority of them. I'm sure some one like DL who really is extra competitive, probably has that hanging over him all the time. It is why he probably makes those comments about not caring, or every one is trash in NA, etc.
Not only that but his brother literally murdered his parents. Fella really can't be judged.
league is for real a super repetitive game. Imagine how many absurd hours he has on league.
Playing 12 hours everyday, only talking about it, depending on it, friends that are only into it.

Radclik not a dl fan at all, I think he was very dissapointing this season. But in his defence, he has dominated NA for a long time but on the international stage they have been so bad compared to other regions. So I think his behaviour was understandable even though it wasn't fair towards his team
It's a team game. You don't play for yourself. You're ruining for rest of the team, the org and the fans. That's extremely selfish, and I don't know how to describe it. Makes me actually a bit sick just to think about it how this behavior is so toxic.

Season 4 Faker wants to say hi. He stated himself he wasn't as motivated, they even got a sub mid the next season in Easyhoon and they shared time pretty much the whole year, even at worlds he played a couple games. It can happen to anyone.

Except he hasn't won it all he has 0 Worlds Titles......Faker has accomplished more and yet still has motivation, honestly the same could be said for Impact who is on his TL team dude has a World title he's still trying DL is just toxic. Steve has tried to put a crazy team together but it's a team game and once one of those players has no respect for the others on his team it's time to go you could tell he's made everyone uncomfortable. On the split Liquid closing video DL talks about how his relationship with his teammates deteriorated after he made those comments about not caring especially with Core.
I feel like the "i dont care" is because he has tried so hard but keeps losing. He cares but since he has lost so much he has become numb to losing and just doesnt believe that its still possible to win a major title. If he didnt care he wouldnt play but when you try so hard and all you get is the same result, even if you dont say it you might give up internally already. He was just bold enough to say how he felt and since hes a jocular guy it comes across as a guy who doesnt want to try while it might be quite the opposite in reality.
So the only constant in double lifts failure. Is himself. He’s played on multiple teams. Loser. He’s won in NA. And internationally. Loser. He’s constantly quitting on his team. Yet still collects his check. He doesn’t get to drag his team down with his toxicity. He’s done this before. Where he just quits on his team. He is the only reason he’s a failure.

la Magnifique petit espirit he is the sole reason. When was the last time faker told his team he didn’t care about games? Or Rookie? Or Doinb? DL solely destroyed the morale of his team. The team was playing 4v5 most games. There is nothing any of them could have done to salvage that. When your “leader” just gives up the whole team collapses. And on top of that Jensen was a top 3 mid laner throughout the season. What he did was so selfish it’s unbelievable. He had 0 respect for his team mates

The guy is burnt out. None of the other NA teams have been to where they’ve been and to keep carrying that torch is draining. So even if he said he didn’t care, with all the professional and personal stuff he went through, this one is excused. Even Jordan took time off. It’s easy to say this and that behind a keyboard but it’s hard for all of us to have a grasp how it is to be in DL’s shoes. Even other NA players have not been in his shoes. It’s so easy to yap about things but it’s hard to extend some understanding. He is responsible for himself and he can sort it out so best we can do is stay off his face. He won you guys a trophy after his parent was killed. What else does everyone want?

What really made me made was when Tactical showed up and was performing great, and only then did Doublelift attempt to "get better" and "stay motivated". Honestly, have tactical as your starting roster, and TL might make it back into the spring split next year

7:23 the mistake is they guaranteed he'd get his spot back. They should've just said he was benched and force him to work his way up himself. He didnt have to work his way up, he was gonna get it anyway.
These benchings don't work unless you force the player to either regain their motivation and/or elevate to an even higher level
for real, the only real benching done right was with C9 two years ago when they benched literally everyone but licorice/sven and the players of the main roster had to play academy for like a month and truly earn their spot. And even after that sven and jensen were still splitting time with blaber and goldenglue
@@Lillith_sv abso-fuckin-lutely. Not only that, but they used the 7-player roster rule to their best advantage. Finding out their best bet was putting Sven with GG and Blaber with Jensen was their absolute best discovery. Even getting to use it in the RQ was huge.
@@tomboomeronacrv You're forgetting that C9 players were outperforming the regular roster and they say it in even in this video that they couldn't afford to keep DL benched because "Tactical is a rookie and maybe he couldn't handle the pressure".
Ideally, DL would be benched and think on his atittude but TL couldn't afford it. Maybe for players it seems like split is irrelevant but not for teams with their sponsors.

Because as far as anyone can tell the other TL players at least wanted to win, they just underperformed. DL said outright he didn't care about this season split and then underperformed hard. Misplays and mistakes from the rest of TL are one thing but what DL did is not far off from just throwing the season for his team. Should've just made way for someone that wanted to be there instead of waiting until his team loses 4 straight times and everyone rightfully gives him shit for his bad play to suddenly start caring and wanting to win. Then when he is benched "Ooooh i care even more now i want to play".....Too late for that bud.
DL teammates actually wanted to win ,besides none of them trash talked teammates meanwhile dl did.
Because the issue ISN'T that they're underperforming, it's Doublelift feeling that he can basically throw the split because HE doesn't want to try, and completely ignoring the fact that he's playing with 4 other players that want to win. He's not just ruining his own split but his team's as well. Plus, I'd be shocked if Doublelift's attitude didn't play a part in the rest of his team's performance; morale and overall team atmosphere is HUGELY important at this level, and if his team are going into every single game knowing that Doublelift doesn't care and isn't going to try, that's huge.
I'm not saying people wouldn't be flaming if TL had performed this badly regardless because ofc they would, but Doublelift behaving this way says a lot about why it's happening. It's no coincidence that the team has fell apart as soon as Doublelift decides he doesn't care. If I were the owner of that team he'd be gone ASAP, because it's quite likely that even if DL returned to form his team aren't gonna want to play with him and the team won't improve.

He's probably worn out, winning for 3-4 straight years in the LCS can take a toll for players mentally. When you're winning for so long you can lose track of what a person wants. Obviously to win worlds is the ultimate goal for every player/team but going thru a whole year of splits again and the expectation to stay at the top is super difficult when you have other teams that are hungrier to win than TL.

It's not that they simply underperformed, that happens from time to time. It's the fact that DL literally went on camera to say he didn't care. As far as we know, his teammates at least cared and tried to win, it just didn't work out.
Doublelift has always been carried, just watch his 1v1 forever. He loses always unless he has 4 players giving him support

Its fucking retarded to expect an ADC player to have to be good at 1v1 compared to roles that are predominantly 1v1 but hes still great. Hes bored because there is no competition here and disheartened because he cant perform during the one tournament that he does want to. Obviously the spring split was a bust, but calling his attitude "trash" just seems so off putting to me, plus putting dom's commentary numerous times where he just talks about how bad he plays seems like this video is anything but journalism. I'm alright with the thescore guy talking inbetween, but this title and overall feel plus the narrative of this video just seems like this video was created to sound edgy to get clicks without giving a lot of information about doublelift. I believe anyone who knew the whole story of doublelift would never call his attitude trash, and btw I know they purposely chose the word because it's like doublelift's famous trash talking word, still before even starting the video having this kind of a title about such a legendary player, and honestly a character is just lame and it lacks quality in my opinion.

As a Cloud9 fan, it both hurt and was extremely enjoyable to watch the first game of the split (before we knew Liquid had fallen apart) and the final game where it finally looked competitive.
I personally wanted C9 to end TL in the finals, not the final game of the season.

I really admire Doublelift for staying at/near the top of LCS for so long. To play Pro for this long is difficult to do. He really is an icon of the NA scene.
Burnout for League pros is insane and he's obviously been feeling it on and off for a while, so who really knows how long he'll keep playing for...
But I'm looking forward to seeing how he (and the rest of TL) bounces back in Summer.
The motivation to prove people wrong + return to playoffs (with the ultimate goal of becoming champions again) should be there.

Im down for that, Doublelift should've been removed from the org for what he said, at least he will learn to give his all on the next team he is on... because when you are payed to compete and you are one of the best if not the best in your region, and stop caring about the league, you just lost all respect from your teammates and fans.
Doublelift lost his mother and it would eventually hit him what that means. I think he is mentally strong and all, but he needs some changes in his life. Being benched should be a positive thing in the long run.

Always winning like Doublelift really brings his motivation down so he needs to lose but sacrifices his team, he needs that motivation to continue to play, not everyone has that mindset to play for every single LCS and win then bombarding out of Worlds. Doublelift feels he is inside of a loop so he says he doesn't care to win but when he noticed that they are in a bad position then his motivation fired up again
? How was this split his fault when Impact feeds every game, they can't draft for shit as top mid constantly suffer from champion pool issues, and corejj just didnt play well plus Broxah visa issues? After Double got benched, its not like Tactical played better than he did plus they still lost with him, and every game after then he was the best performing player on his team while they completely collapsed and fell apart around the map.

When your player doesn't care about winning, it's gonna set your team in a problematic situation whereas Tactical wanted to play and prove himself

if Tactical had played all the matches and the team had lost (play-offs) DL would have thought that the team lost because of he was benched. But the team lost with DL so he is aware that he is the reason the has team lost (or at least a part).
Im glad TL is having issues maybe they can actually improve instead of just trying to ban aid fix everything with roster moves. There is probably a overarching problem for all of their players to suddenly go from best in the league to feeding. Im guessing they will come back and win summer.

I've played since season two it was fun up until season 4 the patches killed the fun part of the game for me. If something was broken it might take a week to figure out how to counter or it was so broken it went on for 2 weeks + which is what league has been at for since season 4. Its just not fun playing anymore when there are only a handful of champions you pick or else your trolling counter picks are becoming less and less meaningful because if a champion is broken they will out team fight you even if you stomp in lane. Its a 5v5 game, but now its pretty much you win as 5 and can't win by yourself turret buffs made the game a lot harder to carry alone that on top of not picking meta has pretty much kills your mentality if every lane is losing but yours pretty much kills your mentality
Classic NA mental, this is why the East usually comes out on top in Esports over a long enough timespan. Their fundamentals on mental toughness in their regional philosophies is a key part. NA is great for building a players brand and being entertaining but when the going gets tough in the trenches your retweets and youtube views don't mean shit.
I would argue it does matter, long term they would be making $$$ long after thier career ends.

Knight or Tian plays Qiyana, the right after the game there's an influx of Qiyana's. it's similair to what happens on basketball courts with kids larping as pros and shit.

Doublelift’s attitude is totally acceptable due to the poor state of NA soloq which leads to pros being unable to practice well, along with the low level of NA competition which always leads to him being unable to get his team to the level to get out of groups. Many analysts agree that if Double played in Korea he would be able to get out of groups, he is totally justified in feeling angry or despondent in response to the egregiously bad position he is constantly put in for worlds.
From watching at the start, i feel like this dude might benefit from therapy maybe or something for confidence. It sucks when a person becomes demotivated for whatever reason depression etc,
