Not 5 fps, shadowplay eats 1 or 2 fps at max, it is negligible and it's what you'd expect from different 660 variants. I always take that into account and whenever there's a fps hit greater than 3% I use a capture card instead. (It varies with FPS of course, if I'm getting 200 fps, I'd get 3-5 more without recording / if I'm getting 30 fps, I'd get 0-1 fps mor without recording)
If you want to upgrade, take a look at amd rx 570 or 580. In my country, GTX 1030 costs nearly the same as those two. Just got 580 for 100 USD (Used, but still. Im not complaining)

I remember how amazing the 1030 was from a budget build standpoint when I came out in 2017. People buying any old Sandy Bridge pc with 8-16gb of ram, and popping one of these in there instantly gave you a usable gaming pc without breaking the bank. Not long after AMD caught up by making low-end dedicated cards mostly obsolete by releasing the 2200/2400g. Then the rest is history.

I've upgraded a DELL 3020 (i3 4160, 8 gb ram, Intel hd4600) To a i7 4790k, 16 gb, SSD instead of slow HDD and a GT1030 for a really cheap price. And I really like it. Its a perfect multimedia pc. Still a decent/great GPU for some older titels. (and the CPU is still nice today's)

I'm using this card with my 3900XT whilst waiting for my 3080. Surprisingly, I was actually able to run GTA V 1080 at 90fps (medium settings). I also tried hooking the card up to my 4k monitor but it flat out rejected it
I've got the Gigabyte 1030 2G OC for my 180w PSU + A10 9700, i've had it for about 2 months and i have been blown away by how good it is OC +1050mhz on High/Low custom settings at 1080p 60hz it runs the games i want to play RE2, PC1, BF4, Dirt Rally

In fact, it ran, but unfortunately, it broke crashed down whole darn system and I was kind of lost. So I disassembled this little piece of crap and changed the paste. It still oberheated, and then I realised, i forgot to tighten the screws... That was a little dumb of me. I tightened them screws and first thing I did was looking for your test video. And you helped me so much in term of "stress-testing" this little disaster. I learnt so much from your videos. Thank you for your work. Edit: I also disabled the shaders like you did it. This only shows how much people can learn from these videos.
I got one, and after years of running Skyrim on a fucking shoe I can wholehartedly recommend you get one (if your budget stretches to one). Skyrim runs 1080p, so does GTA 5 and also Elite Dangerous. It's not the dog's bollocks, but if you're a budget gamer (or a tight bastard, like me) it will more than do.
Gt1030 is overall a good gpu for normal gamers, but for those people who spent the whole day on gaming then, the rtx 3090 is even not enough for them, Gt 1030 is a best choice gpu because it is cheap and durable, and congratulations that you got 1million views☺

Krispyzzal ... I need some GT 1030 investigation. Overwatch recently came out with a patch within the last few months or so that Drops the FPS for a GT 1030 GDDR5 significantly compared to what it was. I swear they do these things on purpose. This is the only game I play and on 1080p 100% res scale Low Settings. I could hit 80+ fps or more. Now it drops to 44- and hovers around 61-63fps. What in dee hell Blizzard... I'm a cheap bastard and love my GT 1030.
Hey, when you get an Optiplex 7010-7050, GT 1030's all you're gonna get unless you upgrade the PSU and sacrifice anything that's using the 4x PCIe slot because GTX cards will NOT be single slot, rare variants that are single slot are still full height cards. You'll never fit a 1650 inside that thing without a different motherboard. See how GT 1030's so important here. I actually hope there's an ampere GT 3030 or something that can replace the GT 1030, not to mention be more feature filled, the GT 1030 had to wait 2 years to get G-Sync for out loud.

You can game on any specs, just depends on what games you like and if you care about quality. You can have a lot of fun with 90s, early 00s games.
It's impressive with so many script running in the background (typical rockstar games), rdr still can get that high framerate with this card.

Gt1030 is overall a good gpu for normal gamers, but for those people who spent the whole day on gaming then, the rtx 3090 is even not enough for them, Gt 1030 is a best choice gpu because it is cheap and durable, and congratulations that you got 1million views☺
I just got this GPU for a stream dedicated build for 80$usd. I was looking for a video that would reference the card and came across this. Thank you. You did an amazing job brother. It helped me guage the "power" of the card and now I'm confident I can use it for that build. Well I only got it cause ryzen 2700 does not have integrated graphics lol but im glad now I know im good

Krispyzzal ... I need some GT 1030 investigation. Overwatch recently came out with a patch within the last few months or so that Drops the FPS for a GT 1030 GDDR5 significantly compared to what it was. I swear they do these things on purpose. This is the only game I play and on 1080p 100% res scale Low Settings. I could hit 80+ fps or more. Now it drops to 44- and hovers around 61-63fps. What in dee hell Blizzard... I'm a cheap bastard and love my GT 1030.
Hey, when you get an Optiplex 7010-7050, GT 1030's all you're gonna get unless you upgrade the PSU and sacrifice anything that's using the 4x PCIe slot because GTX cards will NOT be single slot, rare variants that are single slot are still full height cards. You'll never fit a 1650 inside that thing without a different motherboard. See how GT 1030's so important here. I actually hope there's an ampere GT 3030 or something that can replace the GT 1030, not to mention be more feature filled, the GT 1030 had to wait 2 years to get G-Sync for out loud.

And back then 750 ti is the king of budget cards and held the throne for a loooong time.

I use the same gpu with 8gb of ram and ryzen 5 1400 and I get 200fps in creative fortnite and 150fps in public game on low settings and epic View distance

@@archgirl the reason why gpu prices got rediculous is that cryptocurrency (bitcoin and stuff) miners buy like 14 of them to get bitcoin. They made gpus out of stock and made their value INSANE! I’m mad at nvidia abd amd fir allowing this cuz its slowly killing the pc market.

Global silicon shortage, followed right up by a pandemic which shut down the factories and slowed production to a crawl upon reopening, coupled with scalpers discovering the profitability of cards and other components in the PC space sent the prices up. But the biggest reason for the insane prices currently aren’t the miners, the pandemic, or the scalpers even; it’s gamers _paying_ the jacked up scalper prices and keeping them in business. Supply and demand is a two-way street; we can’t attack scalpers for hoarding and profiting on supply if we’re not also condemning those who perpetuate the unprecedented demand. If people were more patient and let the scalpers sit on that stock, the prices would come down in order to shift it and see _any_ return on investment. Anything over MSRP keeps a scalper happy, they just want it way over. The longer stock sits in their spare bedrooms and garages, the more they’ll drop the price and the more we’ll start to see more reasonable price stabilization in the secondary market, along with, _hopefully,_ lower demand on the primary market, giving gamers a foot in the door for MSRP pricing.
Thankfully, I managed to find a GTX 960 for a damn cheap price and I’ve been rocking that for about a week now. Got lucky. Now it’s a waiting game for a better card down the line.
