Oh man, I found mine not too long ago when helping my parents clean out some old boxes. I have the first 2 models (the original & color), the light, and the "Story of Star Wars" 3 disc set. I remember thinking the quality was garbage even back then! 😂
Actually they came out about the same time it was targeted at kids and was really just a gimmicky thing i had 1 it was worthless. Remknds me of those little tiny music players that had the tiny chips that played like half a song tottally worthless but all the cool kids had them!
“Zone out and shut the fuck up” Every episode I find something so great to quote from you. And that, even if you didn’t mean it to be funny, KILLED ME.
I vaguely remember one of my spoiled classmates having one and I thought they were kinda cool but kinda lame....how much did these things run for back then??
This videoNow was actually $50 and only came with 1 disc I got it at toysRus when they came out I regret looking back now I see them at goodwill going for $3 to $10 then we’re pretty interesting but way beyond asking price
I remember seeing commercials for these but of course I was way too old to want one of these when they came out. I love your fixing techniques, might have to try that on my broken Saturn....
VideoNow is not worst portable because That time, my computer and laptop had no video on internet in early 2000s. My family had one TV with movies only in early 2000s.
I know why is bad because Tiger made it. Also, I use to like it a lot as a kid, but now Portable DVD players and iPods and Smartphones have come a long my why.
I remember this all to well it was a fun nobility item I had the 1st one in grey it lasted 1 year before it broke down on me the videoNow color lasted a little longer I even took it to school with me a few times I had the XP although it wasn’t reliable at all and it took pressing the play button over 40 times just to turn the thing on I don’t miss that videoNow. Overall it was a fun run but I’m glad I have portable DVD players now instead
Did you come across a big VideoNow! yard sale lot, or are you a very sick man?? Btw, I like the way you fix things...just don't hurt the transparent blue one!
I didn't even know that this thing existed! It's definitely interesting! The quality of the video and audio seems really bad tough, especially on the first model 😅
Yall keep trashing these products but they were LIT back in that time because we had nothing better to compare it to. Yall have to understand that lol. Obviously you’re conditioned to 4K and HD everything these days
Back then it was LIT (I did not experience it sadly), but now the practicality of it is humorously bad, but I love the concept of it, too bad things outgrew it.
Fuuuck, the memories. Of just the commercial too. I never owned one, bc my parents had a portable DVD player for car rides. And just like any, it played CDs too. Literally no reason for this thing other than to rule 3rd grade or what? Also, yes to the GBA video cartridges. They aged poorly too, but still 100x cooler to watch 15fps Spongebob on a frickin' GameBoy than a knockoff dvd player. Idk why that logic made sense to me then, but it did.
@@TheNerdLair yeah that's a good idea. Nobody ever talks about the N64 Kirby. It's always Kirby's Adventure on the Nes or Superstar on the Snes. Hell you never even here about the Gameboy games or the spin offs like Dream Course or Avalanche either.
This video is way too obnoxious
Hahaha I agree, this UA-camr is cringe as fuck XD
It takes a man to admit he's shit 😂
I was 8 years old when these came out & my parents bought me one and I thought it was coolest thing ever !! 😊 loved using mine for long car rides
Today's generation will never know the struggle
The pre-smartphone age was a dark time, indeed.
Ngl this was “ahead of its time” because it predicted how kids now watch stuff on their phones
Oh man, I found mine not too long ago when helping my parents clean out some old boxes. I have the first 2 models (the original & color), the light, and the "Story of Star Wars" 3 disc set. I remember thinking the quality was garbage even back then! 😂
Remember these came out WAAAAAAYYYYYY before most portable video players, such as mp3 players or smart phones. Pretty damn good in its time.
Actually they came out about the same time it was targeted at kids and was really just a gimmicky thing i had 1 it was worthless. Remknds me of those little tiny music players that had the tiny chips that played like half a song tottally worthless but all the cool kids had them!
Correction the portable dvd came out in 1998 video now wasnt until 2003 rhats what i thought but had to check first.
That little camcorder actually looked like it could’ve been a cool thing to have back then lol
Yeah for a kid to have their own little digital camcorder would have been cool but the quality makes it not worth it.
Never even knew those existed. In 2003 I was playing vice city and True Crime streets of LA. Those look ass
“Zone out and shut the fuck up”
Every episode I find something so great to quote from you. And that, even if you didn’t mean it to be funny, KILLED ME.
Hahaha you know it's true though 😂😝
Oooh I had one of the pink ones! I remember it looking so much better back then 😅
Yeah never had one back then but through a kids eye without smartphones yet I'm sure it looked better.
These...all look like nightmares to try and watch. Novel idea but wow, that mid-tech stuff is often mind-boggling.
Yeah if you didn't have eye problems before watching one of these, you will after hahaha
But I loved VideoNow!
I vaguely remember one of my spoiled classmates having one and I thought they were kinda cool but kinda lame....how much did these things run for back then??
I'm not entirely sure, I looked up to see when I was making the video and I couldn't find any prices from back in 2003 :o
@@TheNerdLair Fair, i'm guessing they probably charge a pretty penny for them now with them being "old school" and such haha
This videoNow was actually $50 and only came with 1 disc I got it at toysRus when they came out I regret looking back now I see them at goodwill going for $3 to $10 then we’re pretty interesting but way beyond asking price
The hammering was damn hilarious lol.
It felt good hahaha
Thought I was so cool having this. Lol. Then j got a portable DVD player that changed my life lmao
hahaha its a cool novelty but that's all it is, a novelty.
man I forgot these existed and I didn't realize there were 5 models, i thought there were like, 2
Yeah man I didn't realize there were so many till I made the video, and they all suck haha
Actually there is 7 and 4 spin-offs
I remember seeing commercials for these but of course I was way too old to want one of these when they came out. I love your fixing techniques, might have to try that on my broken Saturn....
Seriously that little fix tip I showed in the video will repair any broken item :D
“ hold on let me see if i can fix this “ *hits it with hammer* 💀💀😂
It was the only thing that could be done XD
I think it was great for it's time since it had a better lineup than the GBA video, one problem: it didn't have ben 10
They were definitely fine for kids, I think if they were a little better quality then they would have lasted longer
@@TheNerdLair Yeah, at least some obscure nick shows are on it like my life as a teenage robot
Me and my siblings had these. Completely forgot about them.
I remember I went to a kid's house and they had one
Not the best piece of tech but interesting none the less
@@TheNerdLair it was interesting
I think I still have mine somewhere in the attic
I'll bring the hammer :D
My dad just found mine somewhere in a cabinet and I totally forgot it existed. It won't turn on. I'm now 30.
I don't need a video now since I'm happy with my portable blu ray player bro
I'm happy with my smart phone lol
i had one of these with a spongbob tape . Dammm time flys
can a video now disc work on a dvd player or bluray player???
Uo till 2007 damn you could get a whole PSP in 2005 and watch movies
PSP was much much more expensive than these, but you're right. There were better ways for sure
I loved my video now! Had music video discs like Jessie McCartney. But damn what a waste to the earth especially hearing about the accessories
You didn't mention the choppy 15fps and basically no skip protection, because it's a CD player w/ no CPU or cache
Bruh 1:58
Hahahaha yeah I was like uhhh I mentioned that XD
@@TheNerdLair you mentioned 15fps but not the skip protection
Instead of trashing beautiful hardware, I'll take yours for free!
It's in a landfill now, it's yours if you can find it haha
VideoNow is not worst portable because That time, my computer and laptop had no video on internet in early 2000s. My family had one TV with movies only in early 2000s.
Well laptops couldn't even play DVDs till around 2003-2004, so that wouldn't even count as a portable video player lol
I know why is bad because Tiger made it. Also, I use to like it a lot as a kid, but now Portable DVD players and iPods and Smartphones have come a long my why.
3:02 LOL I played this part over and over again because it made me laugh so hard!!!!
Hahahaha the damn thing wouldn't break XD I was sure it would shatter
@@TheNerdLair Yeah. Maybe if you bend if really hard or hit it with a hammer it would maybe break!!!!
i really like mine
Lol he hit that shit with a hammer
I fixed it :D
I used to love watching these
🤣🤣 fUck Shaun lmao ya fUckT that shit uuup maaan LMAO Love ya bratha!

Haha yeah the lack of Anti-Skip would have been so frustrating, like the slightest tap would make this thing skip. Cool idea but bad execution. :)
@@TheNerdLair I agree
afv on videonow?
that's quite absurd.
Right? The footage ok that show is all from mid 90s consumer VHS camcorder a XD can't image how bad it looks on this thing
I had and still have the exact same one as 2:24 it was great back then tbh. It wasn't as bad
What if on startup this thing played a ultra compressed sample of the song right here right now by fatboy slim i know this comment makes no sense.
No no my friend, it makes perfect sense ;)
Yes the fx one was the best I think
Did you come across a big VideoNow! yard sale lot, or are you a very sick man?? Btw, I like the way you fix things...just don't hurt the transparent blue one!
I've a very sick man hahaha and the blue one is safe 💙
Wth was there no back light.
Not on the first model haha
I think I had the video now xf I think, when I was a kid
I didn't even know that this thing existed! It's definitely interesting! The quality of the video and audio seems really bad tough, especially on the first model 😅
Yeah it's like worse than an original game boy screen haha there is a contrast wheel but it it doesn't help much.
@@TheNerdLair at least the original game boy had sharper image quality. 😅
Definitely, this one looks like straight up pixel blocks haha hurts my eyes
@@TheNerdLair Same but I guess that in person the eye strain is even worse 😅
Yeah and my eyes are already not the best so it was painful XD
*first portable video player
I had one. I liked it. It was still bad, but I was able to watch something when out. It was in 2005. I’d never buy one now. 😂 VideoPast!

I loved mine
From the guy who talks smack about buying Skyward Sword HD comes VideoNow! 😜😜😜😜😜
The things I do for 200 views lol
On a side note though, I absolutely dig that Kirby shirt! 🙃
Ive been meaning to find a new kirby shirt for a review I wanna do on the N64 Kirby game. I've had this one for years 😅

Hi.
👋
@@TheNerdLair So, I gotta ask:
Do you know about Tiny TV Classics?
Just looked them up, never heard about them till now :o
@@TheNerdLair Sweet. If you get a chance to, you should make a video on them.
I will definitely look into it 😊
lol I love this video
Thank you for the kind words
it's the best video player
First
Also, no, never owned a VideoNow.
Yeah same, these things sucked even back then hahaha
