Kinda odd that Myung is the least featured musician in this performance despite the insane Bass section in the entire song trumping every other section.
09:25 - James Labrie at his best!!! Just love this guy!
more at his top duck voice !
I don't see how that's great, and I'm a pretty big fan of their stuff usually :p
@@Amber57499if you don't think it's great you're not a fan 🙄
he was great here, nowadays he's terrible
James is on fire! They should release the entire concert.
They kinda did ;)
@@martinjelinek3676 Well he kinda posted the comment 10 years ago so maybe it was not released at the time.
Mangini is really good at playing this song. His style fits perfectly!
I've always loved that Petrucci solo. One of his best, IMO. This is one of those instrumental sections that keeps the tone of the song, rather than what they started doing a few years later where it sounds more like they insert a random instrumental section into a song.
this song is just divine
YOU'RE DEAD !!!!! BWAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAAHAHA
y u do dis
Because i'm afraid by you
My favorite song of the band! 😍
James is PERFECT here! Wow. Greatest band everrrrrrrrrrr ❤️
Nearly all of Dream Theater are practising Catholics, do you really think that they would be so inept as to put out a song supporting either direction? They are intelligent enough to do this lyric in such a finely tuned manner that they raise the question but dont judge the matter. Dream Theater has never been a political, allthough patriotic group. Great song!
It looks like James is regaining some of that Rasp in his voice that's been gone since the Six Degrees Tour
I actually just realized that that quote goes either way and that's awesome. Great lyric writing.
Which quote is that?
@@RyanxDunn probably the "Life to save life" quote.
Oh my ...starting from 12:05
that pitch scream from petrucci towards the end is just gnarly...that'll stuck in my head for the next couple of weeks. ...
Are You Justified ?
Are You Justified ?
Are You Justified ?
Love This Song
Dream Theater I feel ,They Is God of Band in the world.
This is one of their best songs - the musicianship is amazing! This is not an easy song to do live, but what an awesome job!
They actually released this live performance on the holidays free album they posted on their FB page :D
what a group of talented people!
Jeese this is fantastic! Everything was flawless! Props to all of them but being a vocalist myself, extra props to LaBrie... this song requires heaps of effort!
That's got to be the best live version of the great debate
Nothing beats the earlier ones with mp
JAMES KILLED IT!!! FUCKING AWESOME
13:59 = The look of complete satisfaction.
LIFE TO SAVE LIFE!
"turn to the light- don't get frightened by the shadow it creates. what a great line
One of the best compositions of all DT carrier
to all cameramen, you guys don't need to do anything to make it more artistic during JP solo
I love this performance ❤️
Brilliant performance of an incredible song - great stuff again DT!
Yeah, it's definitely their most underrated album in my opinion.
My favourite DT album
This is sublime! An excellent performance of my 3rd all time favorite song!!! Man I'm so excited and proud of DT
I don't wanna sound like a SDOIT fanboy but imo is the best album ever, ever created. My favorite 2 songs of all time would be The Glass Prison and Blind Faith
Gotta love those keyboards!!!! :D
8:51 to all the people saying mangini lacks energy on stage...
It's not Mangini. It's the mixer/engineer/producer of the albums.
Another crazy good performance
loving the intro Jordan, improvised solo, fast 16th notes, sideways keyboard, Hell ya
Awesome song, it´s a shame they don´t play SDOIT songs that much! Mangini is a genie!
Perfect! One of their best :)
10:47 - The shadow of master!
LaBrie is fucking gorgeous.
couldn't agree more. portnoy is my favouritedrummer however we gotta hand it to mangini for doing a great job carrying the torch
8:24 has always been my favourite part with this song. The oddly placed hi hat sitting out of time inside of perfect time to the rest of the rhythm parts is my fast forward to part.
Mangini did it perfectly as I knew he would.
james owns this version live! 9:25 section is so damn epic too
is it bad that i like mangini playing this over portnoy live?
Not at all. There are several songs that I feel Mangini improved on.
No
My favorite look of Petrucci
one of my favorite DT songs!
I've always wanted to see this live! :/
Great camera and great zoom in
Una de las primeras apariciones de Mangini con DT, aqui demuestra el gran nivel que tiene!!!
labrie está cantando como antes, sale muy bien!
Labrie is on fire here!
Ok, I realize they stay kinda neutral during most of the time, but at some points it seems that their inclination appears, such as those quotes I had mentioned, mainly in the chorus: Are you justified in taking life to save life? For me this sounds like "are you nuts forbidding stem cells research just for the sake of the sanctity of God's creation?", or am I misinterpreting it?
I'd say you're misinterpreting. They're bringing strong points from both sides of the field. They're not more inclined on either side and that's made clear by the fact that they have equal representation through most of the lyrics.
Okay first keyboardists were worried about power stances, JR provided, now if you want to go a level further and just plain steal the show, you get yourselves one of these tilting keyboard stands. ARE YOU KIDDING ME JR?!! Do you ever take a break from inventing?
LIFE TO SAVE LIFE ! (8)!! wooo amo esa parte!
BEST SONG OF DT ALL TIME
yeah man, I don't have the peace of mind to even rank them, because as soon as I do (in my mind), I keep changing my mind.....I LOVE IT ALL :D
however, SDOIT is AWESOME!
Extraordinario, gracias.
@Roleren MP wanted to go on hiatus (which I personally feel was a good idea), and after the otehr guys refused to, he decided to leave. We only know what a few websites have told us, and the members' statements to thepublic, but theres always more than meets the eye, God knows what happened behind closed doors. Obviously MP wouldn't want to leave DT, I mean 25 years is no joke, but no matter how stale the albums were getting, one of the core members leaving wasn't the best solution
@portnoyere Its been a year since MP left yet it still feels recent (maybe thats because of the constant interviews regarding the issue even now), but the worst part is MP didn't want to leave, if it had been amicable then maybe the wound would take less time to heal. Well they're both apparently happy going their separate ways, but there might be a return in a few years time, I mean you can't just dump 25 years under the carpet without noticing the massive bump. MMs a great drummer none the les
I haven't even been to a Dream Theater concert yet. :/
I want to try to go to their next concert in Kansas City, but gas is expensive. -_-
all of them
petruccis solo is stunning
@b111n If you went to the concert after the new album was released (after Sept 13th) They changed the setlist. I think it was Outcry instead of The great debate.
awesome dude!!!!
@Kimhojung43200115 I think they wanted to shoot it with that quality .. and indeed it was a good decision..
John "The Perfect Korean" Myung
:OOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO
I think your shot is much better than Chaos In Motion DVD.
@portnoyere You are right. They are better in many ways now.
wATAMUSIC man
@147pablox I have no idea of the concept or purpose but to me it wasn't a right decision. Actually I like the audio thing (crowd sound wasn't good though) but video.
I wish people would stop arguing about Portnoy v Mangini. They're both great drummers and Dream Theater wouldn't have picked him if they didn't feel he could get the job done. Granted, his style is going to be different to Portnoy's (don't get me wrong, I love both of them) and they have different strengths and weaknesses, but he's as good an addition to Dream Theater as any.
@Kimhojung43200115 That's what I mean.. In the Presence of Enemies and The Great Debate, great songs by the way..
but ok Mike Mangini is kicking serious ass!!!!!
With lyrics like "Miracle potential; sanctity of life" and "should we push the boundries, or should we condemn? Moral guilt and science have collided" should tell you enough about what stance (or lack thereof) they're taking in this song. stop being silly.
The Upper drums set needs to lower to the rest of the drums.
@Roleren Anyway I have no personal stake in DT so I should just listen to the music :P. Mps said a lot of other stuff, check those comments out, leaving the band was definitely his last option.
@88omair Explain me how MP did not want to leave, I quote him "Mp: Guys I think we should take a break JP: Don't do this."
Petrucci really looks like a greek God during the solo at 10:25
If you paid attention to me you'd see I was talking about a 'him', not a 'them'.
Yeah I have to agree. This song sounds more neutral. It sounds more as a question, rather than a outcry or protest (:
loveeeee this song but it seems like quite an odd song to play at a festival
If you pay attention to lyrics, you'll notice that most of them were written from the opposing point of view. Man, I really love Petrucci's lyrics and all. I like how he looks deep into the subject he intends to write about, especially mental disorders, but "Are you justified in taking life to save life?" really? A blastocyst means a hundred cells or so, who are barely able to biochemically recognize each other. Every time JP scratches his balls, he kills many many more than that. Ooh, genocide.
@cpuser37 Yep, +1, and so is the 'Genie'! \m/
I wish they played this song in Clear Water
Sueño con que salga este show en Bluray o algo oficial
@MrStolich omg you are so lucky :P
I like picking harmonics around 12:12 ;-)
If you make it to 9:57 you win
@147pablox I mean crowd sound was too slient (especially the Heil! from the In the presence of enemies) lol. And you're not trying to convince me and Me neither. We're just having a conversation. You don't have to agree with me cuz I'm just saying my opinion.
@Kimhojung43200115 I don't know where you from, but I'm from Argentina, and here we like the crowd sound.. But, it doesn't matter, i'm not tryng to convince you..
hnnnnnng. That bassline.
why the fuck do i not remember them playing this at high voltage?
@09:24 LABRIE ON FIREEE!
@147pablox Well... This is unofficial fan footage.
@Kimhojung43200115 Well, we are in 2011 now..
Labrie sounds very good again XDD
@MlKEPORNTOY Did you know there are more chickens on earth than humans?
Alright I checked your link, it seems legit. And I agree with you that there's nothing wrong with being catholic. It's just that.. the type of person I described in my message.. we see that a lot on the net and I find it ridiculous... A way for some religious people to give weight to their beliefs in a very weird way, like if it made it more true that John Petrucci or whatever celebrity believe in this or that. I understand you weren't trying to do that and I apologize if I offended you.
the lyrics clearly support stem cell research, these are all kind of ironic arguments against people who reject it: "do we look to our unearthly guide or the white coat heroes searching for a cure?"; "are you justified in taking life to save life?"; "the right to life is strong, can't you see it's wrong?"
is john petrucci back to 6 strings?
He alternates.
Plz give us one, just one link that talks about John Pettruci being a practicing catholic... You know, just so it doesn't look like another catholic fantasizing that all of his/her heros are practicing catholics.
If I'm being silly, you tell me to stop being it won't change anything, as long as you are nobody to me. Just like if I told you to be respectful, it wouldn't make any difference.
