    "The Solitary Rambler" is my series of amateur films of my journeys in the countryside accompanied by my own musical scores, which I compose and perform on my Yamaha keyboard.
    Please note that, as with all the films I make, this is not actually intended to be an extensive guide to the area. This is a mini-movie of my personal journey along the walk, in which I often share some of my own personal stories.

    I have to congratulate you for such a brilliant series of walking films.
    I am currently looking after my Mother who is unable to walk as well as she could. Via your films, I am able to transport her to the beauty of our countryside again.
    Until the age of ten, she lived at Holywell Malvern Wells; the little house to the right of the bottling plant you visited in the Malvern walks. Their water came from the water spout behind the main building. That was 1935, little has changed.
    Thank you and glad to see you enjoyed her childhood home the way I did when I visited in 2012.

    What a superb walk that was Patrick so thank you very much for taking us on it. For me personally there is something magical about lakes and reservoirs and these were no exception being very pretty indeed. Old Brampton looks a lovely spot and will be on my list this next summer when I intend to find a campsite near Ashover to use as a base. Can't wait. Thanks again for your excellent work, hugely appreciated.

      Many thanks as always Jeff. I've only ever walked to these reservoirs once before which is quite surprising when I think about it, so deciding to make a film here was great. Old Brampton is a very pretty, if somewhat linear village, but definitely worth a visit whilst you're in Ashover. Thank you again too and all the best 👍

    You have some great walks in your neck of the woods. When i used to go for walks in Derbyshire, i would often hear the sound of gunshots. I always thought i would get shot. Those reservoirs look perfect for a stroll around so I'm not surprised that it was busy. The foilage has that winter look now. Thank you for all your time and effort. Cheers.

      The shots sounded so close, this is the second time I've recently come across that. Yeah a lot of people who live in Chesterfield enjoy walking around Linacre Reservoirs as it's a nice spot just outside the town. Thanks Kelly as always for watching and commenting 👍

    An early start for walk before 9am, but lovely weather for filming. Some beautiful scenic views on your reservoir route, with church bells in distance. What a display of books packed into that telephone box. One way of passing time inside a telephone box!! Those guns went on for quite some time on your walk. Nice gentle piano arrangement Patrick.

    • @solitaryrambler
      @solitaryrambler  2 роки тому +1

      Hi Shanita, I always try to make an early start in my walks as I never know how long the day's filming will go, as well as ensuring I get a parking space before it gets busy! 😆 That phonebox with the books was something wasn't it! I've actually come across a couple more of those in other places since filming this. Those guns certainly dominated the background didn't they. Pleased you enjoyed my piano theme too. I enjoyed performing that as it took some practice. Thanks as always for your kind comments and for watching. Have a great week 👍

      @@solitaryrambler I was waiting for a story at the pub Patrick. A rare omission. Lovely walk though. Them lanes will have seen a few country folk and laborers in their time. I think it's always nice to see a place through a different lens like going back out of work. Strange to think you zoom through the village normally. I can hear you say, 'one day I'll be back to walk it.' Well, you did it some credit. Thanks Patrick. Have a cool weekend.

    • @solitaryrambler
      @solitaryrambler  2 роки тому +1

      Ah not been in the Royal Oak near Wigley Mark, so no story for me to tell there 😂 I just love all those old lanes, will certainly have some great history. Yeah as I work all over Derbyshire, there is much of it I don't explore in my own time. There are a lot of parts which are not so nice of course, so most of my walking is in the Peak District normally, but there are some other parts like here for instance which still provide some lovely walks, so getting the camera out was a good reason for me to do this one. I'll have to say the line "one day I'll be back" in a future one! 😂 As always Mark thanks for watching and have a great weekend too 👍

    A great walk there Patrick. Pleased that you survived the firing range too 😆. Linacre reservoir is like a mini Ladybower isn’t it? Just as busy and as beautiful too. I did enjoy seeing the old phone box that had been converted into a book swap. I’ve seen a few of those quaint villages in Lincolnshire. Sign of a posh village haha. Have a great week ahead 👍

      I edited out all the scenes where I was ducking from the gunshots Anthony! 😆 I found Linacre very pleasant, I'm surprised I've only done a walk around there once before, but yeah it is rather like a mini Ladybower in many ways. That phonebox was great wasn't it. Funnily enough since filming this, I've come across a couple more villages in the Peak District which also have books in the phonebox. Very posh indeed 😊 Have a great week too 👍
