one of my cousins reside in Igboora, she is not a native of Igboora and she gave birth to two set of twins within 4 years of living in this town. it is true ilasa (okro leaves) and yam are contributory factors for their fertility. these two are the major foods they are consuming in this town. the only vegetable they eat is Ilasa. in the absence of Ilasa they would eat another leaf called "Morogbo". Also, they are farming in this town the food they eat is organic coupled with genetic. these are the contributory factors for giving birth to twins
It ain't no damn leaves that give these people the fertility of life! If that was true the RICH westerns would be eating them to have ONE baby. Twins come from genetics! @@prettyanitah4846 it's so crazy that you say this...I made fufu and okra stew for the first time at Christmas last year and I am now 13 weeks pregnant with twins! Lol
Right!! That's the real kicker because the majority of twins in the world are fraternal, and that simply results from multi-ovulation (which many women have a genetic predisposition to doing). The fact that the twins in this city are identical makes the story all the more fascinating because it's long been thought by scientists and doctors that people aren't predisposed to having identical twins. Regarding identical twins, the egg splitting that occurs just after fertilization is thought to be a purely coincidental accident of Mother Nature and not a function of genetic or environmental factors. HOWEVER, this town's twin population aggressively challenges that theory. Though not yet discovered and confirmed, there MUST be something in nature that makes these people more likely to have identical twins. This can't be coincidental.
This igbora town is blessed for them to have twins in almost all families. Twin is in their lineage, it is not by the food or water. God made it to be so for them.
The reason this town is unique is not just because of the high number of twins but the fact that most of their twins seem to be identical. Identical twins are much rarer than fraternal twins and what causes a fertilized egg to split and grow into two genetically identical babies is still largely unknown, while the cause of fraternal twins is simple, just a woman releasing two eggs when she ovulates rather than just one, and both of them getting fertilized and implanted in the womb. They come from two separate eggs fertilized by two different sperm, so are no more alike genetically than any two full siblings, other than being the same age. Identical twins in contrast are still a mystery; scientists still don’t know how to replicate the process that causes identical twinning. And sometimes of course the process goes wrong and results in conjoined twins.

My (ex) husband and I have identical twin girls that were born in Germany. We lived in a very small village, on a circle behind the Rathaus (like a city hall here in America), and despite there not being very many houses back there on our street, there were three other German families who also had twins before we had ours. We used to joke that there was “something in the water”. 😂 As for diet and the likelihood i’m having twins, there have been studies that have shown that people who have diets that consist of a lot of tuber roots, such as yams, which are high in phytoestrogen, could possibly increase the likelihood of a woman releasing more than one egg. A lot of people don’t know that getting pregnant with identical twins doesn’t necessarily have a genetic component. It’s more or less random, but there are some factors that make it more likely such as race (Black people have twins most often), height, and age.

kind and guiless people get twins even without asking...these people are welcoming and seem to get along with one another is what I observe. God loves that.
And identical at that! Love this. It’s so interesting because in another African country (can’t recall which one), twins are seen as a curse and are abandoned. Whereas these people embrace their twins, beautiful!
Guilty as charged. In certain towns and amongst certain people groups in Nigeria, twins were deemed to be evil and abandoned to die immediately after birth. A white missionary called Mary Slessor eventually put a stop to it, and also the offering of human sacrifice. I think it occurred Mostly in the Cross-River State area of Nigeria. The Yoruba, however, have always revered twins. They are regarded as the king amongst children, so they don't have a history of killing twins.
I’ve been told, that my mother’s family is definitely from there! Her mother had 3 sets of twins, and 2 sets of triplets! I have twins! My aunts have twins and / or twin grandchildren! My grandmother’s sisters, didn’t have any twins, but their children and grandchildren had twins! Our family doesn’t always skip a generation with our twin births either! I think, if is a hereditary gift from GOD!
When I was in the medical school one of our Physiology lecturers mentioned this multiple twins issue in Igboora and said it has been attributed to diosgenin present in the yam they consume in that land which stimulates multiple ovulation. Thanks for the video
Oyo state is blessed with giving birth to twins, in oyo town where I came from we have a lot of twins in my paternal family. It is passed from generation to another.
This is to my shock also, I thought it was only in Brazil and india, besides this is across the whole world. Naija we no dey carry last. Thanks brother for the updates. Cheers 🥂
Great content! I suggest you do the HISTORY of the town next. Let us know the history of early settlers. If the twins case started that early, then we can propose genetics from early settlers as the REASON. The history will also give us huge insight into the migration habits of Igbo Ora people from early on. However, I think the reason is genetics as passed down the maternal lineage. The diet is also a big factor in this. Foods that we eat have chemical components that can affect our genes. Yes, food, in my view, plus genes (from early settlers), are the suspect. Great content in all! well done!
Greetings, my goodness, only in Africa these marvelous things can happen. Well , I believe that that there is something in what they eat that changes the genetics structure in them leading to the birth of Twins. Anytime something different is happening to humans is because something, somehow got into the body that is in the land where they live that changes. Nothing happens just like that, and because they are carry of the gene pool so automatically when having children with someone else especially from the same village , automatically can create twins . Thank you. This is an amazing story. Keep up your good work. Your sista from across the ocean . Costa Rica central America.

You will want to showcase it to none native far and near. Many tourists destinations all over the world are sources of income generation to both the locals and the government. Tourist never intrude into anyone privacy. They come and go and spend money on foods, hotels and solveneers etc. Example are Dubai, many Caribbeans destinations, and many cities across USA and the whole world
They don’t need tourists they are happy. This is a very rich and deep video thank you
It is God that gives all good gifts be it twins or material possession. I believe God blessed the town and their genes with ability to birth twins.
kind and guiless people get twins even without asking...these people are welcoming and seem to get along with one another is what I observe. God loves that.
Wow... Nigeria is full of amazing people and stories ❤❤
This is quite unbelievable, I think it's just about the blessing of God it's not about the food.
And identical at that! Love this.
It’s so interesting because in another African country (can’t recall which one), twins are seen as a curse and are abandoned. Whereas these people embrace their twins, beautiful!
Actually some places in eastern Nigeria abandoned or killed twins till d practice was abolish via drive by Missionary Mary Slessor
This is fascinating!!!
Thank you for sharing this story.
You are doing a great job bro!
Incredible!! Great work bro
You are truly blessed from above 🪔
🙏🏼 Blessings to the most beautiful people and their country.‼️🕊
From Canada ♥️
Remember that its only in Yorubaland we have a deity for twins.
I love twins. I pray God give me one when I'm ready.
Good discovery. Good Journalistic work that needs an award
I love the joy that seems to eminate from these people. Truly blessed by God.
God is a God of wonders🙏🏼🙏🏼 His ways are mysterious🙏🏼 Awesome video🙏🏼🥰
The same story in Igangan, not too far from igboora..
Wonderful..
I was born here but adopted by Canadian missionaries. I went back to this town and saw someone that looked just like me.
Wow...😊
Amazing
This is grace of God
When I was in the medical school one of our Physiology lecturers mentioned this multiple twins issue in Igboora and said it has been attributed to diosgenin present in the yam they consume in that land which stimulates multiple ovulation.
Thanks for the video
Yes I've heard of yam giving high possibilities of birthing twins
Oestrogen
But most of the twins in this town appear to be identical. Multi-ovulation results in fraternal twins.
Multiple ovulation is not the case here as most ot the twins are identical, my mum is an indigene an she has twin siblings too
Yes I have read a study on consumption of Yam and Twin birth
Wow! God is indeed great😍😍 I would love to have twins 💖 thanks bro for sharing this content, God bless you 🙏
aww i hope to travel there one day. they all have beautiful personalities
Oyo state is blessed with giving birth to twins, in oyo town where I came from we have a lot of twins in my paternal family. It is passed from generation to another.
Amazing! Greetings and Well Wishes from The States! 🙌🙌
What a blessing the creator giving gifts.
I love how proud they are .God bless them ❤
This is to my shock also, I thought it was only in Brazil and india, besides this is across the whole world. Naija we no dey carry last. Thanks brother for the updates. Cheers 🥂
Igbo ora is already in the Guinness book of world record as the town with the highest number of multiple births.
Great content in all! well done!
The settlers are Igbo.
This is a great Documentary bro 💚
Thanks brother
Greetings, my goodness, only in Africa these marvelous things can happen. Well , I believe that that there is something in what they eat that changes the genetics structure in them leading to the birth of Twins. Anytime something different is happening to humans is because something, somehow got into the body that is in the land where they live that changes. Nothing happens just like that, and because they are carry of the gene pool so automatically when having children with someone else especially from the same village , automatically can create twins . Thank you. This is an amazing story. Keep up your good work. Your sista from across the ocean . Costa Rica central America.
Thank you so much 🙏🏾
God is great 👍, God please give me twins 👯♀️ I want to have an identical twins. Because I believe you are the one that gives babies not vegetable and water.
