If you elect people who don't believe in government and says government doesn't work, then you can't be surprised when government actually doesn't work for the people. If my doctor said he doesn't believe in germs, I'd look for another doctor.

What happened to All these patriots and Good Americans? Growing up in Korea, and having coming to the US in '71 as a doctoral candidate...then, instead of going back to my own country, I stayed in the US...I have never been such a distress like this election. Thank you for this interview as I wish to see the Congress will have to wake up. Gephart exemplifies many values we need to re-vivify. The hard question is are we still the land of opportunity that we were for Gephart? Lots and lots of evidence that we aren't text Jason scaramucci should be asking about that.

Spending you’re right in context but these are not normal times. Cut taxes for the rich and the socialization of corporate losses on our backs is just not right. Corporations should lose their citizenry, time for them to pay their fair share. Country over self and party…

The Democratic leadership needs to stop saying things like, "illegals will do the jobs Americans won't." I've been hearing this for about 35 years. My husband was a union carpenter, and he told me stories about how the union wanted illegals to come in to get their numbers up, sign them up! I watched many Americans picking lettuce in New Mexico, no there are many Americans who would do lettuce picking, even.

I heard that there was a bipartisan compromise on a border bill. What happened to that bill?
OK, a balanced budget could be a good thing. I didn't hear any discussion about the extreme income inequality today in the US. Richard was lucky and got the scholarship that jump started his success. Most people are not that lucky. Richard probably has a lot of ideas on a lot of issues based on his many years of experience. It would be good to have more interviews with him.

The same is true at home. You borrow in lean times but balance your budget in better times. Shore up your finances. That means you don't tap equity to cover living expenses or for vacations and cars because you think you are rich because you have equity. I was raised by WWII vet and my mom. We were trained in the fundamentals of responsibility at work, spending and in our personal lives. I'm also a liberal, not the enemy within or elite because I went to college - on scholarships and loans

Even 20 years ago, a liberal young college graduate like me could easily mix with everyone, when I joined the Army. but This new administration and wanting to use the armed forces to round up and arrest the illegal immigrants, just hell no. I wonder what this would do the recruiting for the branches of the military in the next 4 years...

    • @anneolsen4181

Entitlements programs, only social security and long paid into Medicare are entitlements, everything else is just what makes America great. And, if you could notice, it didn't really cost you, it pays for itself in many ways. Furthermore, defense spending is astronomically more than can be justified, by any means.
