I've listened to a bunch and never had that issue... anyways, assuming the track is 16-channel and not 32-channel (in which case you need to get another MIDI interface to use Part A and Part B simultaneously), you can safely change the drums from B10 to A10 using SysEx. Two examples of this error can be found in the GS arrangement of Blue Dragon(SC0102.mid) from Sorcerian MIDI Collection and the SC-88Pro arrangement of Stay with me Forever(24YS207P.mid). In both MIDI files the channel 10's MIDI Rx channel is set to B10 which recieves no MIDI messages when the MIDI cable is plugged into Port IN 1. Until now I fixed the problem by using the IN 2 Port of the SC-8850 which sends MIDI data to the Part B of the SC-8850. This strangely causes the drums to be played twice. My question is does this record at 44 or 48hz and is that changable within the settings? And out of curiosity how do you record your SC's? Sorry for the long question. But fantastic content, I'm hooked. All the best, Jim.
You don't have to worry about sample rate with this since that's an analog output - it's basically irrelevant. I would recommend getting a USB audio interface of some kind like a Behringer UCA202/222 since the recording quality from a jack on your computer will be... not amazing? But again, no worries about sample rate there - sample rate is only relevant for digital output like an optical audio output. I record my SCs like all of my synths, using an audio interface~!
I used to use a Behringer UMC202HD but have since moved to a PreSonus Studio 1810.
@@SpeedySPCFan hey thanks so much for the reply. I do own a uad thunderbolt audio interface. Do you mean go from the rca to jack into the interface? Would that be the best way to record?
@@MrZerolix Yep, that would be the best! You'll want a cable with two RCA leads on one end and two 1/4 leads on the other, so you get stereo audio.
@@SpeedySPCFan ah brilliant! Thank you for clearing that up. I'm looking forward to your future content! Take care man.
Thank you very much for this very instructive video. I am considering to have one... I would be very grateful if you can explain to me, if you can change the instruments while playing a MIDI song 😊
Thanks bro, i bought a sd-90 for the touhou instruments, and i'm happy, i'm looking for my second sound module and looking for something similar. Does the sd-90 and sc8850 share almost the same instruments/patches library? or they are and sound different? Also i wonder if you have a sd90, as i see that you like touhou too :P Also i wonder if i can use the MIDI Movie Player tool in my sd90? i downloaded it and clicket the index, i selected my sd90 but noting happen, what are the steps to make this work? thanks!
There's similar patches but they are generally pretty different in terms of sounds and features. And I do indeed have an SD-90! Currently working on a video of it.
I think you can use it for the SD-90, but I haven't used the player in a long while so I can't give much advice, sorry... I'll write back if I ever figure out how to make it work.
nice triple upload
How to get sc8850 driver for windows 7
www.roland.com/global/support/archives/archive_downloads_n-s/
Scroll down until you find the SC-8850 - the driver you want to install is "Roland SC-8850 Driver Ver.1.0.0 for Windows Vista 64-bit Edition" - despite what the name claims, this driver works on Windows 7, 8, and 10 too.
@@SpeedySPCFan I have problems trying to install the driver on my Win 7 32 bit. It's not able to detect

Playing Marathon with a mouse I see.
You saying people play it with a keyboard? :P
@@SpeedySPCFan I'm most comfortable with using numeric keypad for movement. Which is a control scheme I use exclusively for Marathon series, Damage Incorporated and that one time when I tried ZPC, but couldn't get the cutscenes to play.
@@adenowirus Huh, interesting. I've never tried that control scheme with something like Marathon, though I had a similar one for Descent which is WASD to move and keypad to look, mostly cause the mouse look in that game always felt like crap to me.
@@SpeedySPCFan Don't the default controls use the keypad also? I think I only moved everything down one key, so I could use 8 and 0 for looking up and down.
Now I wonder how you play that Terminal Velocity.
@@adenowirus The default controls for Marathon might've been setup for that, I'm not sure since I always change them.
I was either too lazy to rebind controls in TV or the setup program was a pain to work with, so I just stuck with the defaults.
Nice video although you are allowed to leave a gap between sentences and talk at fewer words per minute lol.
