      "What is my perfect crime? I break into Festool's store at midnight. Do I go for the domino joiner? No, I go for the HEPA Dust Extractor. It's priceless. As I'm taking it down, a woman catches me. She tells me to stop. It's her father's business. She's Tiffany. I say no. We make love all night. In the morning, the cops come and I escape in one of their uniforms. I tell her to meet me in Mexico, but I go to Canada. I don't trust her. Besides, I like the cold. Thirty years later, I get a postcard. I have a son and he's the chief of police. This is where the story gets interesting. I tell Tiffany to meet me in Paris by the Trocadero. She's been waiting for me all these years. She's never taken another lover. I don't care. I don't show up. I go to Berlin. That's where I stashed the Festool CT 48 E HEPA Dust Extractor."

    "Up for a game of chance, anyone?" -
    Sure, as long as I can bring my own dice.
    It'd be a game of who has the better loaded die.
    I think that would be a fun exercise. - Future video idea?

    Have you heard of the loaded dice that have three channels inside, each containing a drop of mercury? The channels are drilled in such a way that they're all at right angles to each other and parallel with lines connecting opposing corners of each die. You use them by holding the dice with the desired result uppermost and giving them a sharp tap, as one might do when making some incantation to good fortune before throwing them.

  • @azuritet3
    @azuritet3 6 років тому +114

    in the olden days they used to weigh loaded dice with coconut oil so you could squeeze it in your hand and melt the oil. blowing on the dice would cool it off and set the oil making it more likely to land with that side up.

    Weighting one face is worse way of going about it. If you weighted the 1, it would have a vary low chance of rolling that face but all other sides would still have a high probability due to being on that pivot. But if your were to break the D + 1 rule (IE opposing sides always equal the total number of total sides plus one) and re-arrange the pips you could place the weigh in a corner and reduce it down from 5 to 3.

    • @matthiaswandel
      @matthiaswandel  3 роки тому

      I did in fact place the weight towards a corner. Please do watch the video.

    If you have a pair of plastic dice, you can put them in the oven on 300 degrees for about 5 minutes and they will get heavy towards the bottom as the plastic starts to become more malleable gravity pulls the plastic down.. you don't even notice the slight deformation in the dice. Just face down whatever number you want the dice to land on.

    Why not split a much bigger piece of wood, make your mods, and then glue it back together with great pressure to make the joint size as thin as possible, and finalize the size with cuts/polish so that it hides it the best?

    I don't understand why you wouldn't just drill it to begin wth then cover the drill mark with paint. Drill into the number holes on the side you want to weigh down, put lead in there, paint the hole over black. Seems less likely to be noticed than those split marks

    You should try steaming they spot where the knife or chisel compressed the wood to restore it. Or moisten the cut and then apply a hot iron, not too hot to burn it but just turn the water to steam.

    You could also get plastic dice and bake them slightly. Just enough to loosen the plastic so it flows down internally, but not enough to deform the dice. Won't get you as extreme of results, but then that also means you're less likely to get caught cheating.

      I've tried that before. The challenge with that is you can't get enough weight added through them to offset the center of gravity. Also when adding the lead, the surface tension doesn't go into the holes very well.

      @Maxx B, instead they make subtle differences to the Dice itself. For example, it being one Millimetre thicker on the lower end of the dice compared to the higher end. Very hard to notice yet can yield more result toward the lower portion. Yet not Obvious. Or they use a paint that might be slightly Heavier compared to the other paint, yet same colour under the Light of the play tables. One can make many subtle differences to cheat Gamblers without them noticing.

Sand all the faces perfectly smooth, drill the pip marks, then *paint* the die (say, black) and fill in the pips with a contrasting color (say, white). Then the only way anyone would ever know it was loaded was by the uneven weight of it in their hand.

    Or just drill out the "one," put some lead in the hole, and paint over it. If that isn't weighted enough, you can do the same for the lower "pips" on the adjacent sides. No splitting and hollowing bullshit.

    Step 1: Go to psychologist.
    Step 2: Mention hot hand fallacy and regression to the mean, ask them to show you by example.
    Step 3: "LOOK WHAT'S THAT!" Swap dice.
    Step 4: Wait and try not to smile.

    Make a big dice with a mechanism in it that you can activate or deactivate (somehow) to load and unload the dice. Then miniaturize. Profit! XD

    strange that you used regular glue and not wood glue filler which would have filled the crack to hide the cut.

    Usually you make loaded dies by drilling out one of the pips and adding the weight there opposite the face you want to come up. No need to split.
