Thank you guys a bunch for the input and for watching! Loved getting to look through these and reply to y'all. the winner is announced in the community section of the channel. the next f9 b9 videos are other chances to win the final two disc! the grackle, teebird, and instinct are still on the table!
Great work on this video! Thanks for giving a thorough overview of the situations each disc might be good in. I've never heard of the Grackle but that disc looked awesome!
Thought I recognized you then I saw the las cruces course! That was one of the courses I played the first few months playing as I was passing through NM! so cool! Hope you're well
It was literally a month after I'd gotten started playing and at the sporting goods store over there is when I bought my first premium plastic disc!! haha
That is 100% what I tend to do with my more beat in firebird, and now that you’re saying it about the glory I’m starting to think I should have kept and bagged it lol.
@@deserttrekmedia I bag a 2020 Tour Series Hailey King Stalker, but also have an ESP. I love ESP plastic. Cheating Lefty on UA-cam has great reviews of Discraft discs!
I absolutely LOVE my Instincts. I use the neo Instinct as my straight do everything fairway, and the forge if it's winder or I need a little more flex.
@Desert Trek Media I started with the innova made fd2's. I chose the Instinct over them because of the added glide. I think the fd1 with be a bit dumper like the Glory, but who knows.
I have a NEO and forge Instinct. I love them. Forge is a hair more stable, stronger finish. If I could only okay with two discs, it would be an Instinct and a putter.
Really good showcase of each discs strengths. I switched from the teebird to the instinct about a year ago and haven't looked back. Where would you put the discmania FD? I've been loving the new c line since the neo plastic beats in a bit quicker. A c line instinct would be perfect for me.
I felt really similar about the NEO plastic. Mine would beat in pretty quick too so I kept a Meta instinct that stayed a bit more stable than a beat in NEO plastic. I really liked the stability of the C-line, but for some reason both C-line FDs I had were super stiff which I didn't particularly like. I will try to snag a less stiff one and try it out!
@@deserttrekmedia I just got a metal flake c line FD, and it's way softer. Same as the mind bender plastic. It feels so much better imo. I also love the meta, I have a year old zen essence in meta and it's just beat in to what a neo starts at.
@@mindlander dude yes. I wonder why the metal flake is softer. I bet the DD3 and FD would feel so good in metal flake c line. they are good at holding out long enough to make me want it more lol
@@LindburgDrone that makes sense. I was just telling someone that I liked the way they fly, I just felt like they were too stiff for me. The c line metal flake plastic feels way softer. I bet the FD would be good in that plastic.
I like these videos of yours! Perhaps take the time to redo throws you failed with so that we can se a fair comparison for each throw? And also, I think the Explorer is a great forehand disc, perhaps not for max power/distance throws, but for long approach forehands etc. its gold (no pun intendent 😉)
I am a big fan of teebird sincei t's been one of my first starting disc when I started about 2 summers ago :) Never heard of explore or instinct before and love the information about these disc! Might have to check them out for christmas
Great video. I recommend the Leopard3, drift, FD, hatchet, and crave. These will be a bit more straight and finish straighter. Easier to throw I’d believe as well.
Low Ceiling - Explorer or Instinct Swing Hyzer - Teebird or Explorer Turnover Hold - Explorer Long Low Ceiling Tunnel - instinct Forehand - Teebird or Glory Torque - Teebird or Glory Teebird it appears would fit most for me.
I had a river when I wasn't very good at angle control so I could never have it hold the line I wanted, but I'd bet it's a sweet disc. how does it fly for you?
@Desert Trek Media My family and I have only recently started playing, so we're still learning and trying discs. I can get the River to flip and keep its full shape, but only get it 230-280ft. Previous shoulder injury holds back from pushing anything much further.
@@PaulDavisTantarian oh dang, what happened on the shoulder? I had some problems from baseball in the front, but I don't feel it too much with disc golf.
I have been looking to fill this exact slot myself so this video was huge for me so thank you!! I really like the instinct that's what I would pick if I was you but I do like the teebird as well. I have a discmania mystery box coming and maybe I'll get a c line fd or an instinct in there. If I find that perfect disc I'll let everyone know!!! For the woods I love the clash disc soda it's a 7, 5, -2, 1. It's not as understable as you may think but man it's a great disc for the woods!!!
Love the forged instinct cause instinct is my go to disc plus i have the pink and green so thats the last one i need in my collection. But both the grackle and the teebird look great. And the teebird has the same flight numbers as a instinct and I know numbers can be different from company to company but figured it would be almost the same since Inova made discmania disks at one point.
I'm a year late to the party, but I'll chime in with my input. An Opto-X Explorer would fit better for forehand since it is more stable. With the Teebird, I would say a Star, G-Star, or DX would fill the other roles. Honestly, with the different plastic options between the Explorer and Teebird, I would go with either of those. Both should be easy to find at most retailers, either new or used. As far as cost goes when buying new, Teebird seems to be cheaper than the Explorer.
@@alexanderwang5991 Yeah, I am sending one to a guy in Denmark this week from the Tucson video. lol but I couldn't do like 3 or 4 in a row so as long as you're not back to back with another European winner then it should be fine!

The Glory is excellent in that slot. The latest run of Emerson Keith Opto-X Explorers are also a good option. I have a flat top EK Explorer that is stiffer and has a slightly higher parting line that fills this slot for me
Yeah, before I threw discmania the explorer was the go to and still would be if I didn't like throwing mainly one brand (it's a me problem lol). But throwing that Gold Explorer reminded me how awesome they are!
Gold explorer I have an explorer and instinct I like them both. I really don’t like over stable disc. Mostly because everything is a bit over stable for me so those last 3 would be very over stable . For real. The overstable ones were hard to learn with (then I learned they are bad to learn with lol). And yeah those two were hard to beat in my mind. I heard Felon's were sweet!
I have a teebird, love-hate so far. To be honest, wouldn’t forehand a fairway driver, but other than that, the explorer and the glory would be my picks.
I bag 2 diffefent Explorers (recycled and opto ice) which is less and more stable than gold aswell as a glory for low shots around corners and straight forehands
