I always come back to this scene! I loved Zhou Xun's acting. And this is such a power move on Ruyi's part. After this, I look for the part where Wallace cries cause I love it when men cry after realising what they lost. I hope more drama's do this. A more realistic ending because not all fairy tales have happy endings.
The difference meaning of cutting hair scene in this drama and in others like Yanxi Palace and Princess Huan Zhu is: in others it's about desperation, histerical but in this drama it's about determination, strength, decisive. She loved and bravely holding on that love through trials, now she bravely ended the love. Her heart is her own, and she always true to it
This scene was so powerful. They way this woman acts is Phenomenal. I felt it the moment she cut her hair. The relief was strong. He had many loyal women and he killed them all. He lived with it til the day he died.
He forgotten that Ruyi became an Empress just for him because he kind of beg her since no one understand him the most other than her. Also, because he needed her. But he continued to be suspicious of her, driving her away and making her feeling exhausted than anything else. This is still one of my favorite scene in this drama.
As a woman, this scene speaks so much volume. The empowering scene of a woman at her breaking point, letting go ..argh Ruyi was just amazing in this scene!
I feel like this is real feminism. A lot of today's media focuses too much on empowerment of women on being callous and masculine while demonizing traits like expressing emotions and being feminine.
I remember in the starting episodes, the foreign painter had told Ruyi about the marriage culture in the west. He introduced the concept of "one partner" and "divorce from both sides". She truly wondered if one day her own people will consider spending their whole lives with the one person they love rather than having multiple wives. She was also the person who always sought equality in her marriage. Though many years have passed, she has definitely kept this belief deep inside her until this happened.
In HS I watched the Guiding Light with my girl. Now I'm hooked again by this historical soap opera. Just because you're Emperor doesn't mean you're perfect. His suspicions destroyed the best love and the TRUST, which is difficult to come by, and a woman who cared for him since childhood. I was sad by this scene and the final outcome of her character in this section of the series. Yes I'm a man and yes I have shed a tear or two.
" Soulmate who understood me and considered me" translation: never disobey or have your own insight/ opinion, always listen. Love only me with all of yourself and at the same time i will do as i wish.
i wanna know what thoughts were going through princess hejing's mind when she realized that who she is trying to help in order to torment ruyi was an awful, calculating murderer. princess hejing doesnt know the crimes of her late mother and sees her as a pure woman and saw ruyi as someone who ruined her family's life, even though she didnt like ruyi, i didnt want her to be on wei yanwan's side
Actually I guess this is the moment she realised the difference between ruyi and her mother's character. Her mother once sold her out for heqin marriage to protect her empress position and the glory of fuca clan whereas ruyi practically kicked the position of empress for her principles.
I think jingse realized too that ruyi didn’t covet being empress like her mother claimed either if she was then she would have been begging and screaming to hold onto being empress not just boldly and proudly quitting like she did
Clap back to the real empress in history! Dear empress! Even if this so called egoistic, powerful, idiot emperor tried to perish your existence with bad edits, you are well remembered! Your deed has spreaded like wild flower. Thank you for showing that bish emperor his place❤️
I don’t know why but I felt like this is what really happened in history. If the king really hates the second empress, he would have killed or executed her on the spot. But he let her live. So it’s kinda believable that most of that in this story line really took place in history?
No can do. Executing the Empress is seen as a sign of a bad ruler and a bad omen by the people. The majority of people in the empire were not Manchu. And since this dynasty was not ruled by the Han royalty, it will cause political unrest among the Han nobility and Han officials. It might give them the excuse to have uprisings.
Ruyi. Una verdadera Emperatriz.
The emperor is sooo awful. Makes me hate him to the core, thats how you know he is a good actor. The fact that we relate and feel sad for Ruyi makes me know she's a great actor. They are both very good.
It's because Ling guifei was basically a mirror image of the Emperor. After all, he was the one who taught her how to become a real consort. Admitting that Ling guifei was wrong is akin to admitting that he was wrong. And we all know his ego won't allow that.
Ruyi just did a "Boy Bye!" in all ancient Chinese custom glory.

Yes, I love this part also. She is a true Queen. He did deserve her love or to be in the present of her.
I agree, not all fairy tales have a happy ending. Ruyi's ending is perfect! A realistic ending is better over a botched up happy ending.
Yes this is my favorite part as well. She played this role. When she said she was done she meant that!

I was never more proud of Her then in this moment.
Proud, absolutely! This was a very long time in coming.

Love it ,the part that she cut her hair, good enough is enough.

Nothing with more perfection.
Right? Everything is so one-sided..this narcissistic selfish man 🙄
Sad ,even after all this ,emperor still reluctantly admit his fault over how he treated Ruyi.....I admire her stand of truth🙂
Oh God i love her expressions. Never going overboard. She is too good
Ruyi was the only one who didn't deceive him......the music love it.

She was officially done with him.
Why emperor believe to the rumors of other consort.emperor must ask proof of the rumors.

Rui was the only one who dumped him
The empress look like Gigi hadid ❤️
The title is everything😘
I would like to start the series from the beginning. Does anyone know when the first one was?

That is why you don't marry a prostitute.. Oh sorry.. An emperor.. 😊
its the title for me
@@dacori5dqr65 story of yanxi palace
The story of yanxi palace was very unrealistic if you look in real life the person that consort ling was based on was secretly killed by the emperor
