Remember how in the first film, the Jaeger pilots were muscly disciplined cold adults who looked like they'd spent their whole lives in the military and took the job of fighting Kaiju seriously even when they were winning? Even Chuck Hansen, who was arrogant and egotistical, still took it seriously and didn't fuck about when piloting Striker. And whenever they fought, they did their best to avoid damaging the city they were defending, keeping the fighting to the coastline in the water whenever they could and only utilising vehicles and public property - like Gypsy using the shipping crates and tanker ship as weapons - when absolutely necessary. Then in this film, they just get a bunch of college students, models, underage teenagers and twinks in colourful suits fighting in colourful Jaegers, whooping and bantering as if they're on a rollercoaster, flipping Kaiju off and destroying buildings without a second thought, causing massive damage without a care for how long or how much it will take to rebuild as if they're playing a virtual reality game. It completely eliminates all sense of seriousness and urgency in war and thus, makes it feel like you're not watching a Pacific Rim film.
That could partially be logically explained by the fact the idiots of this film were trained solely using simulators with 0 consequences, still stupid, but you cod explain it that way, of course it seems they didn't and instead did it just because.
They should have left the series alone and just have the first movie as a standalone. They could have spent that time making a Jeager pilot simulator at Universal

The thing I hated the most about this movie was that unlike the original Pacific Rim, the robots don't have any weight to them. In the original movie every step, every motion, every punch, you got the feeling you basically had a walking building wreaking destruction. In the sequel it feels like they're all human sized robots hopping around a miniature set, without even having the decency to film it in slow mo like a Godzilla movie.
Man I hope Guillermo Del Toro returns to save this franchise. The first movie gave so much hope, then this sequel just turns it into Transformers garbo.
At least the first 3 transformer movies were good. This movie was like the last 2 transformer movies had a baby and that child had a baby with Pacific Rim and this expectation vs reality crappy movie waa born.

Another sin, this cash-grab sequel creates plot-holes in the first movie that weren't originally there! To explain, the first movie shown they only spawned from the pacific ocean, and travel across the world in different directions to level major cities; yet this movie throws that out the window, by saying they were all going straight to fuji to cause a global explosive event, instead of systematically ruining our infrastructure that was clearly portrayed from the first movie.
If they wanted a global explosive event from a Volcano then why aren’t they attacking Indonesia? Or hell If the kaiju wanted to attack Japan they could’ve attacked Sakurajima which has a literal super volcano underneath it!
Or Yellowstone seeing as it's a dormant super volcano. Or anywhere along the "Ring of Fire", part of which is in the ocean. (They literally could have opened a breach next to it and sent the world to hell within a few minutes.) Just dig into the unstable areas and plant a mega bomb, or something... I mean they had an EMP on one of the Kaiju in the first film, so why not a Bomb on another for this film. Uprising really made no sense at all... It's on par with that shitty independence day sequel. Same concept with the heroes too. Ragtag group of individuals that shouldn't be as good as the film makes them, yet they magically save the day anyway.
MtnD0 2.0 although Yellowstone is a massive supervolcano the problem with it is that it’s deep within the US whilst Krakatoa,Mount Tambora, Campi Flegrei, and the Volcano I mentioned are all close to the ocean or heck maybe lake Toba or Long Vally which are both more inland but not as far inland as Yellowstone
You missed one major sin: this movie claims that every kaiju that ever came through the Breach was trying to make it to Mount Fuji. Assuming that the Breach is located in the Pacific Ocean, hence “Pacific Rim”, then what was Knifehead doing in Anchorage, Alaska?
In movie one Newton explains that "First was just the hounds. Categories 1 through 4 was nothing. Their sole purpose was to aim for populated area and take out the vermin: Us! The second wave, the exterminators. And they will finish the job."
9:24 You need to add another two sins because a) Had they actually managed to grab the helicopter they would have simply crushed it and b) Why did they not use the gravity sling thing they showed literally a minute ago to catch the goddamn helicopter?
they would've lost her anyway 1. running wasnt fast enough 2. a crash landing that'll kill her anyway 3. the gravity sling would take too long to charge anyway she's dead unless she dosent board the chopper (or the jaegers kill he un-knowingly cuasing more property damage and killing a high value personal at the same time)
The jaegers neurological connection system gives them a connection between their nerve system and the jaegers damage system, thus they feel when they're damaged, hence when they git hit they yell out in pain, thus they can feel how much weight they're putting on objects. So they would be able to catch the helicopter without crushing it had they been able to move fast enough. Well that also depends on how much force they use on the copter.
Two things that annoyed me in the movie: *The little girl being more skilled in fighting than the trained soldier Russian chic because she learned it "iN tHe sTrEeT" *Mako being reduced to a Woman In The Fridge. What, can't have more than one Asian woman in a movie unless it's specifically about Asian people?
I seriously can say this... Pacific Rim: an excellent movie that is unique and without equal Pacific Rim 2: a movie that try’s to ride the coattails of the last movie The pacific Rim 2 we wanted: the movie explores the early years of the kiju pandemic and the rise of the jagers, and a wireframe layout from the actual books
@Captain Jack Sparrow Thanks. Years ago, as a fun hobby, I used to specifically look for flubs in films. I loved to watch for them and have a large Word document list archive of them for hundreds of films. But, it just too time consuming and movies these days are so full of them, it's just not fun anymore when you can easily spot them.
Jaegers? Too fake. Pilots? Buncha idiots. Kaiju? Looks like a cheeseburger. Plot? Not needed. Writers? 9 year olds. Hotel? Trivago Update : whatever you do do not click replies unless you do not value your sanity
I don't know why this film has a lot of hate because I'm one of the few people who likes it. I can understand that they didn't get all the old actors from the first film to reprise their roles like Raleigh but that's probably because the actor would want lots of money to come back. Like in the MCU the actors who played Rhodey and Bruce Banner in their debut were later replaced by different actors because the old actors wanted more money and yet nobody complains about them now. The other issue people have is the CGI saying it looks bad but the first movie was always in shown in the dark but if it was shown more during the day you wouldn't complain. The next issue people have is how the jaegers don't have weight to them and how you can't feel their hits like in the first film but you also have to remember that these are Mark 5 to 7 Jaegers and they're more advanced than the Mark 1 to 4 jaegers. They're not going to rebuild old jaegers to fight against newer kaiju that might have the advantage in battle. So they made newer models to keep up. And there's the issue that they look the same. I beg to differ, they look completely different to me. And people complain that kids are the ones piloting the jaegers. Are you serious I see nothing wrong with that, we've seen it done in hundreds of anime so why are you complaining now. The next issue is Stacker's son who was never mentioned in the first film. Maybe he was never mentioned was because his father probably disowned him after trying to pilot a jaeger by himself and failed. Next issue was killing off Mako and yes I will agree with that but remember what I said about actors needing money but it did serve as a good motivation for Jake to become a pilot and save the world. The next biggest issue was the kaiju were always heading for Mt. Fuji. Remember what Newton said in the first film the Precursors sent the Kaiju to attack cities to soften them up and then send the bigger threats. They were most likely trying to eliminate any threats that would interfere with their plans to take over the earth. The Kaiju's position of where they were at the time just happen to be towards the direction of Mt. Fuji.

Pacific Rim is a well made, visually interesting, and well written with developed characters; main characters Raleigh and Mako and supporting Stacker, Herc, Chuck and Tendo. It shows how different races of people worked so hard to end the kaiju threat with their jaegers The sequel is a badly made, dull mess with young characters who can't get along when they meet. My only complaint with this is you saying Amara is to smart for a 15 year old is wrong. Age doesn’t really matter when it comes to how smart someone can be.
@@giantenemycrab1192 Jeager program is like a pilot for air force, and Amara is 15, and last i check child soldiers are banned by international treaties.
The thing I really hate about Amara is HOW THE FUCK DID SHE BUILT THAT. Like she just magically just knows how to build a small Jaeger, how to build a one person drift, how to pilot it and how to power it. At an age of 15 with lack of manpower, lack of tools that would bring cables around and the Jaeger technology for sure is complex enough that a civilian won’t know how to reverse engineer nor make a small scale model of it. Yet she still somehow does all of that and within a shorter timeframe as she lacked manpower and how the fuck can she haul metal and tools without being caught making it?
Something like it's part of the story, if it's non-canon it's a seperate story not partaking in the current one. Or a continuation/prequel not confirmed by the original author to be actually the story.
Romano Coombs i particularly liked 1's handling of the underwater Kaiju... splitting it with the sword as it passes? Hey, fun fact! They made a short comic on Amara's backstory and she piloted it before. It was during a underground Jaeger race and scrapper got scrapped. So that's why she had just fixed it when Pentecost arrived.
my biggest complaint was when the dog-sized kaiju just connected the other three instead of swarming the jaegers who were very unequipped for swarm tactics and tearing them to pieces.
This movie was tragic. They took their own science and tossed it out. They ignored the actions of over half the Kaiju in the first film. The addition of the young pilots killed most of the tone set by the previous film and prevented them from obtaining any seriousness for this one. It would have been fine if it wasn't for every single pilot seemingly acting as if it was there first day in training. The strangest part is this though: For every error and oddity, there is a awesome thing. We see Jaegers 1 and 2 Marks newer than Striker Eureka (a jaeger that was wrecking a cat 5 by itself) and then its ruined by the apparent inability to injure cat 4r Kaiju. We see a vastly upgraded version of Gypsy that goes toe to toe with (IMO) one of the best designed jaegers in the movies and then when fighting a cat 5 kaiju seemingly forgets all those weapons in favor of tipping bldg's over onto kaiju(who have been seen smashing through said bldg without harm). There were so many better plot hooks, and the one they went with they seemed determined to trash.
also, in the simulator when we're being introduced to the cadets, we see the Bracer Pheonix team fail to take down onibaba, a CATEGORY TWO that was taken down in minutes by Coyote Tango, a mark 1, in a jaeger that probably moves twice as fast as it and was made literal decades after it. at that point, they're not untrained, they're just fucking hopeless.
It's worse than just being a terrible sequel. Compare the movies: The main, cooler hero from the last movie dies before the movie began, because the actor looked at the script and said, "Naw." A secondary female character from the last movie dies to give the new protagonist some bullshit motivation beyond, "Save the world." There are two scientist characters from the last movie(s) that had very small roles given much grander significance in the sequel(s). The whole world thinks the problem is over until Bigger Alien comes in to wreck shit up. The new, untested force fails, then succeeds, though the problem is better developed in ID4:R, whereas here, it's summed up in 30 minutes. Oh, and the main climax of both films is set to appeal to Asia, and the entire reason there will be sequels to these cinematic trainwrecks is because Asia loves Western action movies, making this piece of shit viable for a sequel.

Jens Fleurackers ok? But what about the action? The weight and movement of the Jaegers fucking SUCKS in this movie. In the first they actually felt huge and heavy with a lot of momentum behind each swing. In this it's like two toys being thrown together. Garbage.
Something that really infuriated me about this movie is how Nate used the ejection pod. Couldn’t he just have detached himself from his rod? He clearly had the strength to survive it, climb all the way up those stairs to the top of the building and knock out the antagonist. He was already close to the ground and all the dramatic last moments of the main characters sequence could have been avoided.

Really no sin for the fact the mourning of Mako’s death, a huge emotional bombshell, is skimmed over in a single scene of Jake in front of a memorial of her and other deceased characters from the first film, or even one for the fact that we have literally no clue to what happened to Raleigh; we know he’s not dead since he wasn’t on the memorial, but no one even mentions him(with the exception of Jake’s rallying speech)despite him being one of the saviours of earth, presumably the husband of Mako, who is the head of the Pan Pacific Defence Corps, and one of the few available Jäger pilots left.
Don't forget her claim of "it's small enough to run on a single neural load" then proceeds to pilot her small jaeger without any kind of helmet or neural interface.
So you’re telling me that, in a facility specializing in training jeager pilots doesn’t have any other pilots other than some trainee kids for an important mission?

This extremely convenient robot army hadn't been mentioned in the plot at all before this point, but suddenly there they are. Hell, they don't even tell us what they are so at first I thought they were tiny kaiju. like, even if you assume that they are some random Shao tech that he used in this situation, they serve a super-specific purpose. I mean what are the chances that Shao just happened to make an army of man-sized robots that specialize in taking apart and putting together kaiju? and there's no way Newt had them specifically designed for his plan because you have to assume that even if he got the plans for these robots greenlit someone along the Sao industries production line would think "huh, why are we making this legion of robots that re-assembles kaiju?" and immediately inform the CEO lady.
You missed a nerdy sin. The volcano would have erupted anyway, as the exploding from the jauger would have ruptured the lava lake, this would have made the volcano unstable enough to erupt
One thing I'm confused about... doesn't Del Toro say that at the end of the first film, the Kaiju's world is destroyed? Or was that just the breach? He said the world of the Kaiju was on the brink of collapse, and so they needed to overtake another in order to survive. So... did their world not actually collapse or something? (Maybe the movie explains this, I haven't actually seen it fully.)
The worst part of the movie is that true only mentioned Raleigh (I think that is how it's spelled) once. Mako doesn't even mention him and were are supposed to believe they are still together. Yes Charlie Hunnam couldn't do it because of his schedule, but they should have at least mentioned him more.
Pacific Rim Uprising was a movie that should not have been made. The original Pacific Rim was great while the sequel showed that ... sequels usually suck. The story made no sense, the Jaegers felt weightless, suddenly everybody can drift with everybody (even a brain in a jar), kids in Jaegers cracking jokes, aliens turn into Transformers, and much more that just made this a crap movie. I love the original Pacific Rim but Uprising felt like a cash-grab. It was more like watching Power Rangers than watching a Pacific Rim movie.

Meanwhile in real life pilots and mechanics are not just friendly, they often dabble in each other's interests. Many mechanics have a private pilot's license. Many pilots know a lot about engines to avoid having to pay a mechanic for something that's just simple maintenance. In war time the pilot and their ground crew are thick as thieves because the ground crew literally determines if a pilot is going to be able to perform the mission and come back or if they die while out on a mission. I don't think you'd ever find a pilot talking shit about their ground crew unless they're ribbing each other in good fun. Besides, if we're going to bitch about anything it would be the fucking engineers who haven't put anything together with their hands since they were playing with legos ...
Some things I found with PR1 and PR2 Jaeger Piloting: The piloting would require strain to *BOTH* pilots. They would have a hard time to just try and lift the arms.

(They literally could have opened a breach next to it and sent the world to hell within a few minutes.)
Just dig into the unstable areas and plant a mega bomb, or something...
I mean they had an EMP on one of the Kaiju in the first film, so why not a Bomb on another for this film.
Uprising really made no sense at all...
It's on par with that shitty independence day sequel.
Same concept with the heroes too.

Josefie Krakowski yeah but still, it's not like they would expect it.

a) Had they actually managed to grab the helicopter they would have simply crushed it and
b) Why did they not use the gravity sling thing they showed literally a minute ago to catch the goddamn helicopter?

Brain stopped functioning
they would've lost her anyway
1. running wasnt fast enough
2. a crash landing that'll kill her anyway
3. the gravity sling would take too long to charge anyway
she's dead unless she dosent board the chopper
(or the jaegers kill he un-knowingly cuasing more property damage and killing a high value personal at the same time)
The jaegers neurological connection system gives them a connection between their nerve system and the jaegers damage system, thus they feel when they're damaged, hence when they git hit they yell out in pain, thus they can feel how much weight they're putting on objects. So they would be able to catch the helicopter without crushing it had they been able to move fast enough. Well that also depends on how much force they use on the copter.

Update : whatever you do do not click replies unless you do not value your sanity
Fuji.

Pacific Rim is a well made, visually interesting, and well written with developed characters; main characters Raleigh and Mako and supporting Stacker, Herc, Chuck and Tendo. my biggest complaint was when the dog-sized kaiju just connected the other three instead of swarming the jaegers who were very unequipped for swarm tactics and tearing them to pieces.
"That robot from the first Thor movie is kicking Finns ass."
Ryokkeno actually the jaegers were either Mk5 and Mk6, so the same Mark or only one up from Striker Eureka. But yeah still a good point...
also, in the simulator when we're being introduced to the cadets, we see the Bracer Pheonix team fail to take down onibaba, a CATEGORY TWO that was taken down in minutes by Coyote Tango, a mark 1, in a jaeger that probably moves twice as fast as it and was made literal decades after it. at that point, they're not untrained, they're just fucking hopeless.
Uprising was the Independence Day Resuregence of Pacific Rim
Kal-El fan 49 omg I was just thinking that
Not really, as this movie shares almost no similarities with those shitty ID4 movies, you're just comparing 2 random movies that look nothing alike
JurassicAvenger/Goji14 it was an unnecessary, shitty sequel, like Independence Day Resurgence
Only difference is: Roland Emmerich directed both ID4 films, and Guillermo del Toro only directed the first Pacific Rim.

Gerardo Reyes argee, this one is more like selling toy and target more to Asian audience
Jens Fleurackers ok? But what about the action? The weight and movement of the Jaegers fucking SUCKS in this movie. In the first they actually felt huge and heavy with a lot of momentum behind each swing. In this it's like two toys being thrown together. Garbage.
Yup, and even then, the first one wasn't anything great either. Dunno why this one got so much hype before release.
Kevin Accetta I like it though, seems interesting, not this one, haven't seen it
You didn't point out that Mako's heli could've been saved by the Gravity Sling. I feel like that would earn the movie at least 10 sins.
Dr. DJ Savato I hadn't thought of that until re-watching the scene again in this video but yeah I thought about that very solution.
I guess she just needed to die for no reason and so logic was ignored.
director killed one and only good character in his fucked up film
Shit, she could have been saved if gypsy took ONE more step before reaching out to catch the helicopter.
He dun goofed. Also, I'm pretty sure that tht gravity sling is a fancy name for a tractor beam.
For the few of us that kinda liked Pacific Rim, this was most definitely not the Sequel we wanted. Is it what we deserved?
some of us like it. Why you guys hate it is problaby that it doesnt looks like the first movie which i get but they are new marks ( mark 5-7 ) which of course need some type of upgrade and the plot needs to be different so it doesnt look like it just copys the first movie.
gb
Daffa but BETTER copy’s of the first movie would not be bad in anyway. If it’s not broke don’t fix
@@justaguy4532 This movie lost the vibe and it looks like the plot was written by a 5 year old
@@justaguy4532 do you understand of "losing the vibes" things? Its like watching Sherlock Holmes which "mystery solving movie" to Superman "straight superpower all of sudden".
Same goes to this piece of shit compare to the piece of art. From Pacific Rim "realism, impactful, mecha robot fighting monster" to "go go power rangers".
This truly is an unworthy successor to Del Toro's movie.
Del Toro made a love letter to all Kaiju and Giant Robot fans everywhere, Steven Deknight made a shlockfest aimed at the lowest common denominator, thinking that because he's a fanboy of the movie that he can make a good sequel.
Disagree with alot of things actually. I think the director for uprising the best he could given the material and I think the direction they took it in was a decent one
You're free to have your opinion on that as long as you respect mine.
I do XD

Except Guillermo himself actually chose Steven to direct Uprising.
And he chose poorly... evident by the result of his trust in him.

Delping Chen Raleigh died of radiation poisoning from the first film it’s in the book
@@kimberleymorris8052 wow.....what a great way to end the hero from the first film.
@Kimberley Morris damn...that's fucking sad yo :(

Don't forget her claim of "it's small enough to run on a single neural load" then proceeds to pilot her small jaeger without any kind of helmet or neural interface.
Kenazzle I didn’t even notice that, wow huge plot hole missed
So you’re telling me that, in a facility specializing in training jeager pilots doesn’t have any other pilots other than some trainee kids for an important mission?
When I heard “we were born into war” I thought I accidentally walked into a new Terminator movie ?!?!

This is coming from a fan of the first Pacific Rim, this sequel SUCKED!
Harry Thomas Pictures agree! i really liked pacific rim but this felt so out of place
Pacific rim is easily one of my favourite films of all time, but this was shite
Harry Thomas Pictures Yes it sucked for you
Destroyer of worlds I mean just as the rating both critics and fans, no this movie was shit get over it
What a tool, thinking less of your fellow human beings just because they don't like a movie you liked.
This is what happens when money is the goal and not the passion and love del toro had for the first.
Are we not going to talk about how Newt just suddenly pulled a whole army of kaiju re-assembling drone things out of his ass?
In my head the first pacific rim is the only pacific rim not damaged by sequelitis
Jose GalVan i loved the sequel... i dont get why everyone else thinks it was horrible
"I don't get why people hate it." That's a common phrase people use when defending bad movies.
Blazin_ItMLG emm... we hate it because is a bad secuel, a very bad one... this should be called "SpyKids get big toys"
Julius Glavinskas that’s okay if you enjoy it, but you still got to admit it’s shit

Asa Thompson Oh YOu MeAn THe fOrTNiTe EmoTE???
You missed a nerdy sin. The volcano would have erupted anyway, as the exploding from the jauger would have ruptured the lava lake, this would have made the volcano unstable enough to erupt
One thing I'm confused about... doesn't Del Toro say that at the end of the first film, the Kaiju's world is destroyed? Or was that just the breach? He said the world of the Kaiju was on the brink of collapse, and so they needed to overtake another in order to survive. So... did their world not actually collapse or something? (Maybe the movie explains this, I haven't actually seen it fully.)
8:48 when they pull out their sword and the typical looking bad Guy Yeager Pulled out 2 swords, tron.
Tron Legacy was wayyyy better than this shitty movie for MONEY

Dude that black jaeger is actually a Dark samus ripoff

Need to add another sin.
Couldn't they have used said technobabble gravitysling thingamajig to catch that helicopter?
I think it would have sent everyone inside spinning around like a bayblade and turned their bodies to liquid.
The Gravity sling is shown to crush a ton of cars into a ball, imagine that force being applied to a singular helicopter.
DianA Grell: yeah I'd say about the Same thing for the gravity sling but I'd think it would be very dangerous
The worst part of the movie is that true only mentioned Raleigh (I think that is how it's spelled) once. Mako doesn't even mention him and were are supposed to believe they are still together. Yes Charlie Hunnam couldn't do it because of his schedule, but they should have at least mentioned him more.

Haha a very original "More like Everything's/Everything is Wrong with (Movie) comment. Never seen one of those on every single video.
I watched Pacific Rim 2 on bootleg dvd and was bored to tears. How can a movie about giant robots fighting monsters be so damn boring?
ask michael snyder
Because youve seen the same plot 50 times.
Because it had no stakes, strong conflict, or likeable characters?
cause nobody gives a shit about giant robots and giant monsters. They have become overly used and clichéd. 1970s and 80s Japanese Godzilla series of movies are 60 times better than this sheit
The Plot is Rubish,but wait.
You watch that on bootleg DVD,
*FBI OPEN UP!*
that Neon Genesis music playing over this movie sounds like an unnecessary insult to Neon Genesis.
but again appropriate for the giant shots of the mechs although too bad its in Pacific Rim 2
coulda been the hype, if they sold pacrim2 with just that 3 second shot from this vid :p
deep and meaningful :p
or its just ironie
Or it's just indicative of how overrated Eva is.

Absolutely no one:
Cinemasins: this logo is more than three seconds I’m gonna give ten sins for that!
I don't get this 'meme'
Doesn't no one and absolutely no one mean the same thing?
Some things I found with PR1 and PR2
Jaeger Piloting:
The piloting would require strain to *BOTH* pilots. They would have a hard time to just try and lift the arms. In PR2 however, its just like a toy.
Jaegers:
PR1 just shows how massive and blocky the mechs are, showing the machinery required to just move the thing. PR2 is just like the power rangers in mechs
+1 Sin:
They, instead of using the gravity sling, decide to *run after Mako's helicopter and attempt to grab it with their hand.*
The gravity sling would have taken to long to charge up
I just hope they learn from their mistakes and make the third movie the best it can be
