The reason people lie is simple. If you tell the truth on your resume most employers will ignore and toss out your resume. Yet, if you exaggerate and embellish your experience and capabilities you will be hired on the spot with higher pay. It's really not that surprising.
No, it's because they have no morals.
I've never lied on a resume. Probably a big reason I did not get jobs I know I was qualified for but lacked the work experience for.
He got the job didn't he? Sucks having an honest resume getting passed over for months while others are at least exaggerating or embellishing on their resume and getting the job over you.
I always had an honest resume and I hardly got any interviews eventhough I was well qualified. Some lady I know always got interviews and the job, but she got fired fast too. She did not have the skills to do the job, but excelled at embellishing her resume. She must know the interview game very well also.
Meanwhile, I could do the jobs she got at least 10 times faster with my eyes closed, but would never get an interview.
It's not doubt. Employers expect the impossible in job ads. They're expecting applicants to lie. Remember the 10 years experience in 10 programming languages, and a college degree at 25 years old?
These guys need to go read on indeed a bit to see the issue.
Job ad: MBA degree with 10 years experience, willing to work long days, weekends and holidays, no benefits, complete loyalty, minimum wage + $5 Starbucks card every Christmas.
“If you tell the truth, you don't have to remember anything.” ― Mark Twain: Motivational Notebook, Journal, Diary
And lose your ability to remember
Okay so you lied on your resume.....and you get hired......but how are you going to lie to keep the position ? 😆
Santos lied big. Very big. Not small. Big.
Yeah. There's different levels of lying.
*bigly
Yeah? So what?! He should step down after POCOHONTAS WARREN and king 🥔 joe step down for their gigantic whoppers.
Is this trumps secret UA-cam account?
I don’t know how to teach my children anymore. If you are honest, straight like an arrow, you will never succeed in any organization these days. You need to be a liar in order for your boss to like you
Doubt doesn't lead to deceit. Wickedness does.
They lie because unfortunately it works. Sad but true
What santos has done and seems to continue to do is way beyond just a lie on a resume. Are we even sure his name is George?
I've lied on my resume about my education. I have an associates degree and I changed my degree to a bachelor's. It got me the job I was looking for. I'm an artist applied for a graphic design job and it's hard to get a job as an artist without a bachelor's. My voice of doubt was that I know I have the skills and experience and im more well rounded than a person who just graduated college and I felt it was unfair I was looked over because I didn't stay in school to get my bachelor's. I got the job and it's funny because I was applying to this job for a while when my resume had the associates degree and when I changed it to a bachelor's they finally called me in for an interview. So I know lying was wrong and i felt really bad but I wanted this job so I did what I felt i had to do.
There's a vast difference between what you did and what George Santos did.
you should be ashamed of yourself. IT IS unfair to be looked over for not staying in school... The degree shows dedication, which you didn't have, and lying about it shows that you're a cheater. Be upfront about it.
@@user-hd8ej8yx9p "thou that have not sinned can cast the first stone" you telling me you NEVER lied before? 🤔
I’m pretty sure they did a background check
@@elchapojr6219 most background checks only show if a person's committed a crime or not. If a background check showed my education I wouldn't have gotten the job.
😂 I don’t even know if his name is George anymore
I'll pay to watch Ken attempt a dunk lol
Will you pay the resulting medical bills though?
Too much reliance on resumes and slick performance skills on job interviews and medical/professional school interviews and not enough follow up/verification of claims.
OK but DO I know Excel?? I always forget how to pivot table...
I tell some of my old coworkers when they quit to list me as the "Head server" (its my side job) because our dining coordinator will not pick up the phone or respond to an email at all. I know some of these kids better than he does anyways and could give a better reference.
It is becoming very difficult to get certain jobs nowadays because not only will employers have extremely high standards but you are also competing with candidates that lie on their resumes.
Politicians lie you don't say!
😂
Who'da thunkit!
Politicians and lies go together
Evil men understand not judgment: but they that seek the LORD understand all things.
Proverbs 28:5
Not saying lying is okay but don't sit here and act like an angel, we've all lied before and we all will probably lie again at some point, let's be real here. Don't act like you've never lied before it's hypocritical.
Thank you for sharing your experience. Keep up the good work.
People do all these things cause they get away with it. Can't tell you how many people go through orientation and than leave. The real shocker is most hiring managers don't care they figure this person won't be here long anyway.
If the orientation has free food, then I get a free meal.
Great financial show now getting political for what... Yikes.
I'd hate for you guys to see EPRs in the military....
I used to go on websites in the early 2000s that show you how to create your resume. Hey you cut your lawn for allowance. You owned a lawn service.
“Here’s the big take away, the reason we bring this up is you can do severe damage to your ability to earn money if you get caught lying like this…” I listened to this twice and didn’t hear an outright repudiation of the act here. Concern is IF you get caught?! How about we admonish the lying and encourage truthfulness and integrity. There are consequences for one’s actions and this should be no difference.
Tell employers that. They lie all the time.
i think the intent was to present the pragmatic consequence, not the morality.
"Ethical behavior is doing the right thing when no one is looking." That being said, we're all human, we all do things we know we shouldn't do. But try harder.
@@alanhodgson7857 Heck, Ken Coleman probably lied his way to get into Ramsey Solutions. He is at a best a motivational speaker, similar to a used car salesman. He probably had to sweet talk Dave just to get Dave to hire him on.
Are you trying to tell me that someone without a college degree was able to make it into a big company like Ramsey Solutions? This has to be unless Dave does not vet for qualified candidates and it is a major turnover business.
I wouldn't blatantly lie on my resume but it never hurts to stretch the truth if it helps give you a better job and a better life. Got to play the corporate game to win
They're trying to be a Christian backed influence, so you're getting no agreement from them or me whatsoever on that. It's still shameful.
Can you give me an example of stretching the truth that is not a blatant lie? I am having difficulty figuring out what you mean. An example of two would help.
@@mathematician1234 not today, FBI
@@mathematician1234 I can. When they ask you "do you like working in a team?" they expect the answer to be yes. If you don't like it you will not find a job. So you at least need to say "I got experience working in a team and I was able to do a great job" (that's usually true even if you don't like working in a team). Another more specific to my field example... In the software development field HR usually are the first one to look for you and they don't know programming so they use a bunch of keywords to know if you are what they want... Maybe you know a framework that works like the one they want... Usually if you need a tecnology you will lean it anyway on the field and if you used something similar you can be sure you can learn it in a day, in any case the idea is to just give a look on Google and stackoverflow and if it's something similar to something you already know if they ask you "Do you know x?" you can say "I will be able to handle x fine".
Both are not lies but they are not answering the real question. That's what I can stretching the truth.
A politician that doesn't lie should be news 😂
This was an attempt to minimize this politician’s actions.
Totally agree. Pathetic video.
Say someone makes 15 but wants a 25 an hour job. There is zero chance they are getting 25 from 15. But if they made 20 then maybe. So they say they make more than they do to get the money they want.
I say good for them !!
The purpose of a resume is to get an interview for a job you believe you are qualified for. If you accomplish that, your resume is good. If you are 100% honest and don't get an interview, time and resources are wasted on all sides. Now, if you apply for jobs you aren't qualified for... that's another thing altogether.
I'm sure he will produce his birth certificate in a few years and nobody will call him a liar or fraud
That is all fine and good. What we really want are is TAX RETURNS!
The other 45% were outing about lying on their resume. Most of it is creative lies they were true but not really. Also with all the entry level jobs asking for 2-5 years of experience you better be creative or you’ll be an inter with 5 years of experience
This guy is Brazilian... he's wanted for crimes in Brazil as well.
Just look at how much worse Robert Zimmerman would have been. George Santos may not be the best fit, but he’s better than Robert
George Santos might not be his real name. Anthony Devolder could be his real name
Since George Kamel lumped himself in with Foreman, Lopez, Costanza, and Washington, when will he have a summer of George?
And a George divided against himself cannot stand! George is gettin' upset!!!
I wouldn’t believe you if you told me you’re lying.
I don't need $10, I'll be your reference for free....I don't feel sorry for all these jobs claiming to have competitive pay, flexible schedules and family work environment. 😒
I meant Americans autocorrect changes verbiage sorry.
Did he lie about that he ate for lunch?
0:27 Do you know Curious George?
On the other hand we have many politicians who lied about their campaign finance and back deals behind our backs as well.
Honestly there not much to do to get a job right now 😂 go to any job and you will land a job
Me personally I think 80 percent of people lie on their resume about something.
Employers rarely check, so yes, fudge a little if itll help.

👹 High five 🙏
How can you get a job in heavy machinery?
Santos sounds like Ken's hero, lead snake oil salesman.
I don't think Ken understands what "imposter syndrome" means.
The examples he gave are exactly what it means...
I really don't see a politician lying as an issue. Aren't lying and deception the main skills required to be a politician?
Background checks yo
Fake it till you make it😂
Never thought I'd see Ramsey team hold water for lying republican congressman by saying "well, everyone else lies too"
Did you watch the video to the end? You jumped the gun on this one.
@@TheRealDeal130 I watched until the end, but I still did not get it. What was I supposed to get from it?
What a waste of 8.5 minutes.
Slow day at Ramsey Solutions.
In your opinion. I found this to be very interesting and accurate.
I dont get why this is such a big deal. Politicians lie all the time. Why are we picking on Santos??
Because the left wants NY democrat governor to name his democrat replacement.
you have to fudge your resume a bit for sure if you are just getting started early on
It's not a lie if you believe it.
True that! I believe his truth! 😂
As george Costanza has said lol.
81 million votes?
Honesty will only get you so far!
Try being honest in the court of law. It will just get you behind bars faster. lol
Whereas, if you lie, they actually have to do work to uncover the crimes you committed.
Whatever it takes
I’ve lied on several resumes, applications and even in interviews. It doesn’t have anything at all to do with feeling inadequate. It’s about getting the job over the next guy.
Way to show us proof of your lifelong privilege…
