    To anybody reading this looking for answers because you are going through it, it’s a scary thing! But one thing that has helped me overcome these “episodes” of feeling like I am suffocating is counting... yeah sounds dumb, but i count to 30 out loud. This tells me I am getting oxygen to talk and counting kind of takes my attention away from my breathing. Try it. If it helps, great, if not, I wish you luck and to plz lmk any other ways to deal with this. It’s seriously affecting my mental health to the point I contemplate well... contemplate you know what. Just know you are not alone, people are out there searching for solutions as well. Take care.

Not this little black duck, life is not that important you have to suffer so much. Usually not the Emphasema which actually kills you. All the other things you'll suffer with. I struggle with dyspnoea, it often feels like I can't take a full breath. I am not overweight and blood O2 is fine (98-99). I do not feel noticeable chest tightness when experiencing air hunger. I was prescribed an inhaler which does not seem to help. The sensation feels physical, I feel like I physically can't take a full breath. However, 1 out of 10 or 20 breaths, I am able to take a full breath. It almost feels like my diaphragm or chest or stomach muscles relax or move differently, and I can take a satisfying full breath. I can't figure it out despite this being an issue for months. What can I do to narrow down the possible causes?

      I only have anecdotes to go one. I wonder if this is related to posture. My symptoms sometimes seem to get worse when I spend a lot of the day hunched forward (working on a laptop). I also have forward neck/head posture and rounded shoulders from computer and phone use. Doing some stretching and trying to unround shoulders and reduce forward head posture anecdotally seem to help (not always though, so I'm not 100% sure). I also for sure have screen apnea: I hold my breath when using screens, which could be related.
      When I am able to take a full breath, I put one hand on my upper leg/hip, and push up, which seems to help me be able to expand my lung capacity(?) which could be posture related?
      I also work out, including bench press, and wonder if anything with muscle mass / tightness in upper chest has anything to do with it. I also wonder if tightness / inflexibility of muscles (like the psoas) around my diaphragm are related.
      The inhaler does sometimes also help a little, so maybe there's an asthma component as well.
      Sharing this context in case others have similar issues.

    • @CombatLeaks
      @CombatLeaks 6 місяців тому

      Thanks for sharing. I think I figured out my issue, also sharing in case others want to try as well. Apparently, mine is related to anxiety, even though my normal anxiety symptoms aren't showing, I usually get the sweaty palms, fast heartrate. I decided to take a full dropper of 1,000mg CBD oil 30ml bottle, and the symptoms are practically gone. I honestly think it's anxiety for me, but it's showing itself in a way it normally doesn't show. @@AndyThomasStaff

    Update on my previous reply.... It’s been 7 moths since I last posted a reply on this and things have slowly gotten better, even after being hospitalized with Covid Pnuemonia for 2 weeks in January. There is a few symptoms that still linger like brain fog, inability to take full breaths at times and the dull pain on the right side of my middle/lower back and fatigue. Not sure if Covid has contributed to any of the previous symptoms. Staying busy helps me through all of these annoying symptoms.

      Lmaoo I’ve been nocturnal playing war zone all night and I’ve been struggling with trying to breathe for a day now. I’ve had this happen to me before but it usually goes away in like an hour but for some reason this is the longest I’ve ever had it. I think keeping yourself busy distracts you from forcefully breathing because I start involuntarily breathing again when busy. The quarantine probably has us so bored and stressed that I’ve been doing boring things like focusing on my breathing which messes me up!

    First, thankyou for pointing out clearly the problem and areas that need to be explained.
    Your explanation of the problem was clear but my understanding required multiple run throughs because your blackboard work left a lot to be desired. Teaching requires a lesson plan, a blackboard summary to provide an aditional pathway into the brain and multiple questions throughout the lecture for the student to check (and further explain) the subject. Your explanation was a real contribution but one or two further steps in presentation would markedly enhance it A first step would be to generate your blackboard before you start and then build it up throughout the lecture.
    Again, thankyou for helping me undersand this topic.

    I’ve had this since Feb. 2020.... started with sleep problems and finally had a panic attack one day when I felt unable to take a full deep breath... really messed me up as I felt like I could not breath normally, could not focus and felt like something was really wrong. After a month or so things got better but never fully went away. Initially it was so bad that I lost 30lbs in one month☹️. Fast forward 5 months and this problem is back. I don’t know what is causing this and it’s really frustrating. Some of my symptoms are upper respiratory passage dryness, cold sweats, irritability, diarrhea, unable to focus, constant burping, tired feeling... it’s just kicking my ass. Dr put me on Zoloft but gave me bad insomnia so stopped taking that. I’ve been home and off of work since December 2019 and through this pandemic so not sure if that has anything to do with it. I really need help with this. It’s really affecting my quality of life.

Feels like I'm breathing through a straw and only getting 25% of actual oxygen. My nose feels stuffed all the time and gets worse at night. Forget about sleeping for me. Maybe get 5to10 minutes if I'm lucky, only because my body is so depleted it collapses only to woken up because I'm gasping for oxygen or super dry mouth because I'm breathing through my mouth. Major anxiety can be a cause for dyspnea as far as I know, I personally experience it alot during exam times or something like that. And when I finally had enough and went to get it checked out they just prescribed me some anti depressants, sleeping pills and some other pill I have no idea what it does.

    I have been doing a lot of research lately and started looking into how closely long term Covid-19 symptoms compare to the symptoms of dyspnea. I’ve found many people in Long term Covid Social Media Groups that have these same symptoms... A large number of people began to experience similar symptoms around the time Covid started. It’s worth a look if you are looking for support!

      I have long term breathing problems after being infected with Covid. My infection is gone now since 4 weeks ago but my breathing problems are persistant. You mentioned Long Terms Social Media Covid groups.
      Can you forward some names of these groups perhaps?
