Hearing this song again after so many years still amazes me. It’s so stark and austere, yet utterly enthralling. One the best Australian songs ever. Thanks for putting it up! :)
I heard this song for the first time in the Psychiatric Ward of the Monash Medical Centre in 1987. They had a record player with a small collection of records and the single to this song was part of the collection.
Singing with silence, when I wanted music. Lighting my cigarettes, with nothing to show. Speeding to Vanishing Point, into my mirror. I hear I hear her; her secret tears flow. No word from China, no sign from the keeper I tried to sleep; excuses, not mine[?]. [?] spaces, between the beginning. Swings and flaws[?], with no floors below[?] I tried to contact you in my designing; no word from China - she had to go. No word from China, no sign from the keeper I tried to sleep; excuses of mind[?]. No word from China, no sign from the keeper I tried to sleep; excuses of mind.
What a perfect fever dream of a song! I remember Judy McGee performing it - that was 40 years ago - she left an impression! I can't' find the lyrics, but they are something like the following; please correct them.
One of the many brilliant Oz indie-type singles of that great era. I'm chuffed that I still have the vinyl, and they still look cool!

Wish we had a better copy.
It is a better copy. It's the effects which stuff it up.
