Interestingly, when it comes to giving Dandelion the Hierarch painting, if you store it in your stash you can still "give" it to him while keeping it for yourself
The salt line is in the same quest as you mentioned with the Earth Elemental and the ''Rivian Tramp'' Guy. It's right before Geralt goes down the stairs. There's a line of salt and he comments something like ''It's useless.''
How?! Like how can you still find something that I've missed?! I am now doing a 100% of every location and still couldn't see some of things you've shown us! You're a legend!
For the two men trying to tax travellers on the bridge (Gaffer! Gaffer!) His friend calls him Sobek. In Egyptian Mythology Sobek was the a crocodile god and was said to have created the Nile River or is associated with rivers hence him being on a bridge over a river.
when my first encounter with these guys ended, drowners came from the river and cilled them instantly. i was to surprised to do something. it was so weird 😅
Additionally, in Polish we often use "Sobek" to describe a person who is selfish and only thinks about themselves ;p not sure there's any link to that here, but still :D
The thing about the line of salt is actually in one of the quests you mentioned earlier in the video. The one with the golem in the cellar. Before you go into the cellar to kill the golem, you can see a line of salt on top of the cellar stairs and with the Witcher senses you can trigger a monologue from Geralt about it if i recall correctly. It's been a long time since i've last played that quest thoroughly.
Geralt has often been seen to ignore the “truth” for expedience. It’s his job to kill monsters not disavow everyone of their silly superstitions. So even if the salt does nothing it convinces the townspeople that the threat is real and not something they should mess around with this accomplishing Geralt’s goal of keeping them safe and out of his way.
17:26 Yes you are right. I commented it in one of your videos. Geralt does asks everyone to line their houses with salt... but he dismisses this theory in the quest of Therazane which you mentioned earlier in the video. The stairs that lead to the basement are warded with Salt to protect against wraiths.
@@windwaker105 I mean.. botchlings are specters aren't they? or are they necrophages, that summon specters? I mean... though they are present as "cursed ones" in the Journal, that's since they use the cursed oil.. But they pretty much are necrophages. And if salt used to work on necrophages, we wouldn't have seen all those water hags and drowners beside those big water bodies... they just can't all be big freshwater lakes, but they still have necrophages
If I recall correctly, there is also a line about salt being just a peasant superstition in Witcher 1, when you get the wraith-repelling talisman from the hermit at Murky Waters. And sure enough, it doesn't work on most wraiths, but it does work on noonwraiths, so the salt is probably one of the "might help, might not help, cannot harm" cases.
17:16 it was the same quest in 12:06 when you enter the assumed cursed house. i think salte lines are effective against certain type of wraiths and cursed creatures. since in a mission in blood and wine ( the one where roach talks ) if you did not pardon the knights wraith geralt will advise the old woman to use salt line if he ever came back.
I think salt is also used to draw the rune and a circle in Witcher 2 while lifting the curse from Henselt (where wraiths are involved as well), although I'm pretty sure it's not just salt, seeing as Henselt complains about the smell.
I've seen a thing. When you bring Triss to Caleb Menge's garrison to ask him about Dandelion, leave Triss to be tortured and scream only once, and then refuse to continue and kill everyone. There is a line available at Triss house after a while about her finger nails, when you choose "How do you feel?". I think before her sidequest. Interesting follow-ups!
Geralt also mentions the line of salt to be utterly useless in the quest where we go to find Iris,Olgried's wife in the mansion in the Hearts of Stones Expansion
I totaly missed the quest with yontek through my first playthrough. Don't know why. It isn't on any notice boards and my first game was very streamlined. In the Polish version, the character of Yontek sounds mentally insane. It feels very strange. Well done for killing the pigs, I wouldn't have heart to do it lol!
I got one for you. In the abandoned manor where you battle the earth elemental in the basement you can also find a portrait of the hierarch of the eternal flame. The manor is also the closest dwelling to the home of the dwarfs that give you an identical portrait once you clear the witch hunter out when freeing Dandelion. Might be something more to look into.
It is quite possible the "Line of salt" thing only works against specific creatures. Same way bringing Black Blood to anything but a vampire fight is pointless. It could even be to limit the movement of the Botchling - the creature might have tried to run away and hide in a house, by breaking through the doors. But might be deterred by a line of salt and windows height. Maybe Botchlings just _really_ hate the smell of salt? Or at least the young ones? But it being usefull to keep the people inside (and thus out of the combat zone) is also a good approach.
What an awesome video! Geralt does say that the salt line things doesn't work at the beginning of the Dysart quest when he's first investigating the house. Hope you're feeling better :)
Its crazy how one game can have so many concent (also secrets and hidden quests/dialogues), since i started to watch this channel until now it seems like it wont ever end.
Sorry to hear you were sick the past days, I too had a little sickness sore throat , runny nose . Never a good feeling, hope you recover fully soon so you can enjoy life to the fullest. Happy Witchering
It is 2076, xLetalis is lying on his deathbed, his family and grandchildren around him. He signals his youngest grandchild to come closer. "I need to tell you something my child". She put's her ear closer to his mouth and he whispers: "There are 3 final things that you have missed in the Witcher 3"
That was interesting. I've always successfully placated the Botchling and never thought about what might happen if you messed up. Seeing it becoming an enlarged monster took me by surprise.
Theres something i found out on a random video on tik tok, apparently during the feast at Vegelbud Palace on one of the tables there's a wine named after Dijkstra, which according to the witcher lore, had terrible taste and was served to redanian prisoners at Dijkstra's personal request. Either CD project red made quite a blunder or Vegelbuds are up to something.
Line of salt quote is from the Therazane quest. When you investigate the house, you’ll find a line of salt at the top of the stairs. If you examine it, Geralt says something along the lines of “huh. Useless superstition”
Welcome back brother, we missed you while you were gone for the past week, and thank you for your effort recording and editing this while you were still sick. You’re a real one :)
maybe the salt thing in the botchling quest is the reference to the Supernatural TV show. P.S. The quest with the support beams with the elemental, I think you need to count in the third support scaffolding at the entrance to the chamber. you can see it at 14:13 in your video on the right. in my play-through I broke the ones inside but quest giver is still alive and well.
20:45 As far as i know haggling is random-during the Wine-Wars Quest Series in B&W you can sometimes haggle both of the Questgivers there to pay you up to 900 (rare) or at least 850 (still somewhat rare). To confirm or deny, one would probably need to haggle with the Count for a 100xTimes or so choosing each of the 3 Answers (Wolf, Cat, Griffin) and see how often you can get the higher reward or how it changes. Choosing another Answer could have a slightly different chance but again, might be worth it to play around with that for a little bit! Other than that, great video as always-good job & thank you! 👍 ps: I'd say that Therazane is almost 100% from WoW, its not from somewhere else afaik ^-^
The detail about extra dialogue with the Earldoman in Downwarren can be unlocked even if you free the spirit. You just have to return there before finishing the Baron questline, and after seeing the crones, since the village won’t be destroyed yet.
I love that you keep finding these little details and keep the series going. You may at this point know more of the Witcher lore than even the game Devs. Second only to the original author.
I have a detail for you: if you go to the tavern where Bea (Ciri's friend) is working before meeting her in the ending, she will make appreciations on Geralt's look if you talk to her
You probably know this but, just in case... Another funny fact about paintings. Go to the brothel in Toussaint after the quest about your portrait and check the wall near the redhaired lady, the one that performs rol games with Witcher Cosplayers 😎
A theory: It's about Dead Man's Party quest from Hearts of stone. I believe the couple who is getting married made a deal with GOD just like the one Olgierd made to marry Iris. Like when Geralt( Vlodmir) is being introduced to the couple they mention how the groom is well off and the bride comes from a humble background, due to which she had to leave the university before completing her studies. The groom also mentions that it was difficult to convince his mother to their 'misalliance'. In that conversation, it is also implied that the bride is somewhat out of his league when Vlodmir being a straight shooter asks her why being a beauty she chose him lol. And lastly, GOD himself tells Geralt that they needn't end like the newlyweds as in they are "bound by a contract they cannot escape". What do you think?
Hmm, I did notice some of these parallels but ultimately didn't think they were literally in a contract with GoD. It does seem like both of them are getting something out of the relationship.
Molly, the general, and the lady have two different comments about her at the races. It is depending on how you do the horse race. If you win or lose the race the Lady calls her a frumpy girl and if you refuse the race the general calls her good looking or pretty. I found it odd that they differed on opinion over the horse race.
I literally seen every video and I wish I could forget everything you've posted so I could rewatch it all and be amazed at how many hours you've dedicated to little hints
Great video, I am always so amazed how you can still find so many new details. The theory of Yontek being relsted to A poisoned source makes a lot of sense and was something I never saw before. It os always so nice to see how well the book content is implanted in the games. Never saw that seen of Dandilion before. But he is such a great character that an addition to his scenes is always welcome;)
17:44 love that me messing up on my first playthrough gets a spot on this video XD Great video! loved the shade at Netflix and my favourite type of magic
@@xLetalis I think you’ve got the wrong comment, but I read the one and I do recall that dialogue option with Triss after pressing Menge for the most information. Though I always assumed that the dialogue appeared after the torture, at the house outside the city, where you can ask Triss to kill the man or wipe his mind.
17:20 You are right! That was part of the golem quest "Therazane" you mentioned earlier in the video. Geralt said that a line of salt will not work BUT maybe it worked for the other monster? Who knows?
The salt line. Yes, I believe he just said it to keep people calm. Cause before he said it was useless. Unless it is because they are different types of magic or curse.
With the bandits, I think I've almost always run into them because that's one of the only bridges that doesn't require a pass to get across the pontar into Novigrad and I hated having to wait around for one. I must've just used that bridge again later because I still didn't have a bridge pass for the guards.
That bridge dosnt cross the Pontar. There is only 2 bidges that cross it, the one at Oxenford and the one south of Novigrad. This bridgr is south-west of Oxenford and there are 2 other bridges on the same river. Also you always need a pass to cross the Pontar, but if you get a pass and go past one bridge you dont get asked for a pass in the other bridge.
Fantastic video xLetalis! I do have a fun little detail that I discovered a bit ago that I believe you haven't covered yet: during the contract in Skellige where where the monsters try to crush you with a rock (and where you get the nekker boots). When talking to the Doppler in the village about your reward - you can ask for as much coin as possible and he won't get annoyed, I imagine this is because they're trying to kill you and will promise any amount of coin to get you to take the contract. Thanks for all the amazing content over the years :D
I remember a rare dialog line you may want to use. If you start the cave of dreams quest by going to the boat and negotiating a reward but instead of going on the boat you start the Stranger In A Strange Land quest. Then after imprisonment you are forced by Lugos to do the quest. (As usual). After the cave you will get your reward, but they are disappointed that you haggled a reward despite being forced to do the quest. I don't really remember it because it was a long time ago.
Thanks for another Witcher video! Didn't know that those pigs (in Yondek's quest) could actually be killed. Yennefer VA voicing as Iron Maiden saying "What is she to ya, this sorceress Yennefer" does make me chuckle a bit, heh.
Don’t know if you’ve found it or not, but I recently noticed something rather interesting in a quest called Spook Mare (which you can take by talking to a peasant east of Oxenfurt). So by the end of that quest, Geralt will be met with two choices: kill all the elves and take the horse back to its owner, or leave the horse there for those elves. If the player chooses the latter option, Geralt and the elves will be at peace, but if you just go in and try to ride one of the 4 horses available, the elves will attack Geralt. Also, before talking to the Scoia’tael elves for the first time, if Geralts just jumps directly into riding one of the horses, these elves will also become hostile
If you ever do the Witcher 2 save import video, a crazy detail I found was during "Of Swords and Dumplings" when you have to get into the warehouse to mark the crates. If you chose Iorveth in Witcher 2 and helped in Vergen, the dwarf guarding the warehouse will just let you in if you pick the "Gotta get inside." option and he'll compliment Geralt on his work in Vergen.
One thing I actually prefer about playing the witcher game in Polish sometimes is because there are certain translations that dont go over as well. For example, the "Wild Ones" are actually called the 'Dziki" Which would yes translate to Wild/savages HOWEVER, they said their name represents their crest which in fact does because Dzik (or plural Dziki) is Boar in Polish. I still speak English better but Polish was extremely enjoyable as well.
Hope you feel better! I just finished modding my copy of the witcher with over 200 mods and LOVE watching your videos while I was doing it. Also thanks for always supporting and creating for this awesome community!
I didn’t even realise this I just played the iron maiden one again and I got the sword quest but seeing this I’m sure I got the fight quest the first time. Legend as always mate haha
17:20 The whole way of handling it was more folklore to him. The pellar suggested to do what they do there. So Geralt does not only believe that the salt doesn't work, but that the whole ritual might fail.
I think mr @xletalis that the line that you reffer in the video about the salt was someting diferent in BaW that Damien said to Geralt about how to defeat the vampire attack , in my mind it is the only moment that i can remember about geralt take time to explain to some folk about traditions being a myth, as always superb videos, keep the good work and hope you feel well soon
Yeah the line of salt where he dismisses it is actually on the quest where you can collapse the building on that one guy the one that was in this video
stumbled on the heirarch painting detail looking for a way to get rid of the painting and accidentally got stuck in dialogue with Dandelion after getting it from the storage chest, nice detail they included. didn't know that xLetalis didn't know about it
about the iron maiden quest if you deat olaf the bear ,champion of skellige isles you can go to her and she agrees to fight you right away without having to fight the guy who she otherwise ask you to fight with
God I'm so late to seeing this one! Glad to hear you're getting better and thank you for another amazing witcher 3 details video! Can never get enough of them
I'm not sure, but I think I found a hidden quest that wasn't mentioned yet. On an island in Skellige between the abbandond village of Redgill and Lofoten, there is a ship wreck and a note, which upon reading starts a quest. It leads you back to the village Ursten, where you find a foreigner trying to convince you to find a women. After you found the second wreck you follow some steps and chase a women to the Widows' Grotto, where the men from Ursten will appear.
I think the Foot Casting bit from the books is also a card in Gwent called Casting Contest. Has an animated bit of a guy casting a spell with his foot and another with boy casting a spell with his (for a lack of better words) wand.

The salt line is in the same quest as you mentioned with the Earth Elemental and the ''Rivian Tramp'' Guy. It's right before Geralt goes down the stairs. There's a line of salt and he comments something like ''It's useless.''
Your Geralt impression is spot on.
Hope you get better soon.
How?!
Like how can you still find something that I've missed?!
I am now doing a 100% of every location and still couldn't see some of things you've shown us!
You're a legend!
dude ive got 750 hours in.. thats small potatoes compared to some but im still only about 91% complete lol
Just when I was feeling sad, brother xletalis popped up with another video to cheer me up. Thank you brother. Get well soon.
For the two men trying to tax travellers on the bridge (Gaffer! Gaffer!) His friend calls him Sobek. In Egyptian Mythology Sobek was the a crocodile god and was said to have created the Nile River or is associated with rivers hence him being on a bridge over a river.
indeed!
when my first encounter with these guys ended, drowners came from the river and cilled them instantly. i was to surprised to do something. it was so weird 😅
It's been a long time since i've last played that quest thoroughly.
that s right, Geralt the hypocrate xD
@@LessbetterJoe Maybe it doesn't work on elementals, but does on spirits?
@@jonbaxter2254 Geralt said that line in this house according tu the wraiths that were considered to haunt this mansion
Any day that you release a video is an amazing one xLetalis, keep up your beautiful work
Because of the things that we missed in Witcher 3, xletalis has rewarded us consistently with the findings.
17:26 Yes you are right. I commented it in one of your videos. Geralt does asks everyone to line their houses with salt... but he dismisses this theory in the quest of Therazane which you mentioned earlier in the video. The stairs that lead to the basement are warded with Salt to protect against wraiths.
Salt won’t work on wraiths, but maybe on Botchlings
And sure enough, it doesn't work on most wraiths, but it does work on noonwraiths, so the salt is probably one of the "might help, might not help, cannot harm" cases.
that moment when the letalis "boring outro" is a cutscene you've never seen in your life
I just love that toussaint music you overlay in parts of this vid
You probably missed it as it was a free dlc quest and came out a month after release.
makes sense (about Yontek's mentality)
i always love the thronebreaker soundtrack in the background, it's so good
I got one for you.
I remember seeing the first time Yontek was randomly doing the hockus pockus and it felt so random and hilarious
its been 7 years
i swear if CDPR don't make you a mysterious all knowing npc in the next game, we riot
who knows :) but thank you
The fact you are able to continue making videos from a game that is what 7 years old now and still find something I missed is amazing.
I think the amount of detail in witcher 3 are endless
I can't imagine what will the come out with in witcher4
Sorry to hear you were sick the past days, I too had a little sickness sore throat , runny nose . Never a good feeling, hope you recover fully soon so you can enjoy life to the fullest. Happy Witchering
I find it impressive how you are always finding things in these games even after finishing them.
Get better soon!
:) thank you, already feeling better
It is 2076, xLetalis is lying on his deathbed, his family and grandchildren around him. He signals his youngest grandchild to come closer. "I need to tell you something my child". She put's her ear closer to his mouth and he whispers: "There are 3 final things that you have missed in the Witcher 3"
Yontek might very well be born with magical attunement, but he never got any formal training because Velen. That could explain it very simply.
That was interesting. I've always successfully placated the Botchling and never thought about what might happen if you messed up. Seeing it becoming an enlarged monster took me by surprise.
16:26 To me, the most notable difference is Letho being dead or alive
Thanks for another awesome video btw :)
oh well, other than that I suppose :)
Line of salt thing is dismissed in a quest mentioned previously, the one with earth elemental and Kurt
ps: I'd say that Therazane is almost 100% from WoW, its not from somewhere else afaik ^-^
The detail about extra dialogue with the Earldoman in Downwarren can be unlocked even if you free the spirit. You just have to return there before finishing the Baron questline, and after seeing the crones, since the village won’t be destroyed yet.
You are clearly a wizard to be able to find these.
I love that you keep finding these little details and keep the series going. You may at this point know more of the Witcher lore than even the game Devs. Second only to the original author.
Love watching your videos. Thanks for the upload! With Every new upload it puts me in the mood to go through your super long playlist 😄
I have a detail for you: if you go to the tavern where Bea (Ciri's friend) is working before meeting her in the ending, she will make appreciations on Geralt's look if you talk to her
You probably know this but, just in case...
Another funny fact about paintings. Go to the brothel in Toussaint after the quest about your portrait and check the wall near the redhaired lady, the one that performs rol games with Witcher Cosplayers 😎
bro how can a man still create good and interesting content from a 7 year old game. both game and letalis are unbelievable fr
It baffles me every time you do these videos. No idea how your able to find all these but it must’ve taken a heap of time. Cheers mate
On Therazane, Therazane is, in fact, an earth elemental in WoW, too.
17:44 love that me messing up on my first playthrough gets a spot on this video XD
Great video! loved the shade at Netflix and my favourite type of magic
I wish I had xLetalis's determination.
Man still grinding details after 7 years.❤❤
That second one is interesting as I’ve played the game maybe 7 times, and this mission 5 or 6 times, and have never got asked to retrieve the sword.
Doesn't this happen when you let them rip all fingernails as well? I've definitely heard it but you might be right about the circumstances
I love the Fool's Gold mission. What about you guys ???
Yes the line of salto is in the Therazine - Doors slaming Shut quest
17:13 yes there was... it was in a quest that you mentioned in this video "the Doors Slamming Shut" quest
You know you can just swim, right?
@17:23 He did! In the golem quest Kurt Dysart gives out.
exactly!
17:20 It is in the quest you already mentioned, the one where the vuy calls you a Rivian tramp
Thank you and speedy recovery to you! Take good care!
Nah dude, how do you keep finding these? Ur insane, love it
thank you :) with love mostly, and help from my viewers
Ahhhhh everybody's favorite game with infinite hidden details. Gotta love Witcher 3
I didn’t even realise this I just played the iron maiden one again and I got the sword quest but seeing this I’m sure I got the fight quest the first time. Legend as always mate haha
17:20
The whole way of handling it was more folklore to him.
About the line of salt Thing: I think IT was during the therazane quest you mentioned in the video
xLetalis in 2115 : 100 years later, new details found in the witcher 3
stumbled on the heirarch painting detail looking for a way to get rid of the painting and accidentally got stuck in dialogue with Dandelion after getting it from the storage chest, nice detail they included. didn't know that xLetalis didn't know about it
In the contract "Doors Slamming Shut" (The one with the Golem in this video :)), he mentions the line of salt
Therazane absolutely is a WoW Reference. Therazane in WoW is the elemental lord of the earth. And in Witcher Therazane is an earth elemental
about the iron maiden quest if you deat olaf the bear ,champion of skellige isles you can go to her and she agrees to fight you right away without having to fight the guy who she otherwise ask you to fight with
God I'm so late to seeing this one! Glad to hear you're getting better and thank you for another amazing witcher 3 details video! Can never get enough of them
If I had a crown for every time you used the lesbomancy scene, I'd buy an estate in Nazair. Relax till the 'White Cold' take us all. 😅
I also think so. It’s sad that you have only the two options and nothing else happens afterwards
I think the Foot Casting bit from the books is also a card in Gwent called Casting Contest. Has an animated bit of a guy casting a spell with his foot and another with boy casting a spell with his (for a lack of better words) wand.
That there was a reference to Berengar by the scholar, interesting.
Considering Therazane in WoW isn't just some random elemental, I don't doubt it is a reference to her
