I picked a DJ move Gigbar plus ILS a few weeks ago along with the ILS command control. I'm really happy so far. I'm a novice in the lighting department, but I'm really happy with the ease of use and the look. I KJ at local bars and it makes any place look like a club. Glad I stumbled on to your channel. It's been really educational
Thanks for the update! Also nice to see someone ( well known ) using dance lights. I understand the need for just Uplights at some events, but there are events that I like the effects that are more active. When it’s time and place for a party like event, this system delivers a more dynamic show than just up lights, in my opinion. Lots of easy control with the new “Command “ as well
I love the convenience of the device. But I think they missed an opportunity in terms of compatibility with other ILS devices. Unless I am mistaken, I do not see the proprietary data/power input on the standalone ILS devices. If that existed, it would enable the ability to swap out some of the Gigbar devices to customize the look. I had some derby lights in the 90s, but didn't think we would see them again in this iteration. It would be so convenient to either download addon device settings to the Gigbar via USB or wirelessly via the D-Fi dongle to easily sync with the rest of the unit.
Thanks for the insight Terry! Just getting started with doing my own lighting up here in Canada and man DMX is a complicated pit to delve into. Currently running two Chauvet Wash FX Hexs with my Denon prime go and sound switch. Simplified solutions like this are very tempting.
100% agree with you CT! I've owned all the GigBar series lights and the ILS so far is hands down the best and most convenient to use. I bought the JMAZ Versa Flex Bar Ultra about 5 months before I bought the Gigbar ILS and now I rarely, if ever use the JMAZ and planning to sell it and get another Gigbar Move ILS.
It would be awesome if you could post an in-depth video of how you use the bar with the command unit. I know the basics, but would be nice to see how you use macros, etc
Do you know if you can replace some of those lights? For example remove the two top ones you don’t care for that you point to the ceiling and add 2 more moving heads?
You could add moving heads but would need to split power cables and it would be super heavy and unstable. And it would not be a permanent addition (you'd have to screw them onand off for every gig). However You can replace the silly Derbys with additional Par's (they are $75 each), and make it a permanent "gigbar move extra" because the two extra pars fit in the case just fine as is.
Two very important fixtures missing in the ILS universe: moving head wash lights and Wash FX Hex. Also all of these need to be able to be controlled by RF Remote. IR remote is a toy.
@@ClevelandTerry ILS Command exists since 9 months now. I got tired of waiting and ended up dishing out over 2k on some other brand / system. I agree with you, the remote is not the way to go, yet it wouldn't hurt to have one in case of emergency. IR remotes in 2024 are just absurd. First mobile phone with IR function was released in 1998. In 2024 I would expect every light fixture to have integrated w-dmx or at least a possibility to connect a receiver via USB slot ...
The Gigbar Move + ILS will not update and it has a startup bug that causes the menu screen to blackout when plugged in and it constantly asks for a USB drive to update the firmware. When i insert the 16GB USB drive properly formatted in FAT32 with only the update file on it directly from the Chauvet website following the instructions . When i hold menu and insert the USB drive a bunch of text shows up and it just freezes for hours until you unplug it. When you unplug it, it goes back to the FKN black screen and no lights. Please HELP I BOUGHT 4 OF THESE AND THEY'RE ALL DOING THE SAME THING! They will randomly work whenever they feel like it if i keep plugging in and unplugging the units sometimes ill get lucky and the Chauvet screen will pop up saying V 1.15 resetting. I did a wedding with two of these and they refused to power on no matter what i did! the wedding was a FKN disaster! DON'T BUY THESE GIGBAR MOVE + ILS UNITS THEY ARE TRASH! I will change this comment if Chauvet helps if not im posting this on every ILS video!
I do. I have (had) both and now sold my VersaFlex. It's too fussy, the remote is too frustrating, the DMX too complicated, the unit is too heavy, and the washes aren't bright enough.
I just wish they made a version with four pars on the bottom and two beam movers on top, and blinders/strobe in the face. No derbys or lazers, built-in mifi to top it off and i think it would be about perfect. I know you can remove the derbys and replace with pars.. but thats not really my point. Youre paying for the derbys and lazer.. and i don't really want them. Remove them and just replace with two pars, relocate the movers to the top and id think youd be in for about the same money.

Hated dance lights for years. YEARS. lol. But thanks to technology (and creativity) my stance on 'em has really softened.
Gigbar + 2 160s. The ILS Command really opens this set up. Quick setup quick breakdown. I love it.
I got 2 of the Gig bar move ILS OMG game-changer!!!! I plan to upgrade more lights with the ILS product! All thanks to you Terry!!
Same here. Soon all my lights will be rocking in the ILS ecosystem.
Thanks for the insight Terry!

What (specifically) made you change your mind? What would you improve?

Very informative thank you.
Looks kool - I don't buy any DJ Gear until I get CT or MoJaxx review.
@pv4425 I am with you on that. I will be taking another look at this piece
You know what they say honesty is the best policy
I’m using this unit with Soundswitch because the onboard sound sync is not that great.
Have you try using the onboard sound board sync hard wired? (3.5mm input)

ils it compatible with 360 spot moving heads
Only if it says ILS compatible.

They’re coming and I don’t use the remote. 😀

you think there be a white version soon?
Curious- why do you prefer this over the JMaz VersaFlex? Do you typically use derby lights etc?
I do. I have (had) both and now sold my VersaFlex. It's too fussy, the remote is too frustrating, the DMX too complicated, the unit is too heavy, and the washes aren't bright enough.
Bro I haven't gotten them because of your previous review, lol...

The lasers and derby lights are still not a good look tho. I prefer the Jmaz versa flex but the ILS feature is pretty clutch
you can replace the derbys with additional pars. They are $75 each. I sold my Versa Flex and bought a gigbar, then replaced the two silly derbys with two additional pars. Awesome.
They're ok. Not that bright for big venues. Gigbars are for backyard boogies in my opinion
Chauvet needs to get rid of the derby's on teh gig bar.
you can easily replace the two silly derbys with two additional pars (they are $75 each)
they need to add more wash lights to the gig bars
