You can’t beat the power/weight ratio of the 500i, but I just like the smoothness of the Husqvarna, better air filtration, caps don’t leak, and it just feels built a little better
I have a 572, and it is a heavy old saw, but also very well built and extremely easy to start, cold or warm. Used to have a Stihl 462, which IMO is the natural competitor to the 572, and that was somewhat lighter and had a snappier torque curve. Have a preference for Husqvarna
Been debating between the 572xp, 500i and ms462c for firewood. Currently have a 272xp but want to switch to stihl for dealer support. Husqvarna dealers are disappearing all around me. Is 500i worth the premium?
@@mark5821 in a way it depends on how big your firewood is.. but in another way, imagine something with the power of a 390xp or dolmar 7900 that weighs the same as a 560xp!
Yeah I'm very interested to see what he can do with it. I picked up my 365 special last night and after running all these stock saws it was like a firework in my hands!! 🔥
Very interesting. I think for me its still the 500 for me more cc's and less weight are just dominating factors. I didnt think it would be that close though! Excellent content sir.
@@patrickvennard838 That's a very valid reason to guide your choice. I'm not sure husqy will try to compete with it to be honest. I think they are focusing on the battery powered saws market. Who knows though!

Both very good pointS! Thanks for taking the time to comment

Thanks for taking the time to comment. I really want to try a 462!!
Pretty much a half second slower every time for the 572xp. I'd take that for the better build quality.
Yeah amazing how repeatable it is isn't it!
Have both of those saws can't compare them, 2 great saws
You're a lucky man! Both great saws.
Keep the great videos coming friend from Scotland 😊 Stihl all ways champ
Thanks for continuing to watch and comment Iain, I really appreciate it. Hope you're well.

7900 n 500i ar near identical weight fully dressed.
Great love a race video as you say there are so many variables to think of in a race. I think a ported saw from Artur would be great for the channel.

Yeah I'm surprised how close it is. Glad you enjoyed it 🙌
I chose an MS 462 over a 572 because of the weight, I am a big Husky fan. I wonder if they will ever try and compete with the 500i?

Yeah hard to go wrong with either of those saws. Who you getting the 572 ported by??
There's not many UK porters, but I think I've found a good one. A guy called Artur Rodak.
They"re both great saws, possibly over a day of cutting, the 572 will use a bit less juice by not richening itself up to save itself 🤔
572 is auto tune don't forget mate... But yeah it's definitely better on fuel. 500i is a drinker!

Yer bars gona make small difference. Like em both. Thanks

The 500i has 10% more displacement
It's actually more, 12.8% I make it! But not 12.8% faster cut speed. Thanks for watching and taking the time to comment, I really appreciate it.
500s seem pretty reliable an like that.
Yeah they seem so so far
Incredible
it ash and use the same bar on both saw to make it fair
Thanks for watching and taking the time to comment, yes it's ash.. I'm bad a tree ID..
Stihl is lighter, faster, and stronger. Really in a class all its own.
Isn't the 572XP about 500-700 dollars less (American) money?
I don't know, here in the UK they retail for similar money (around £1200 each)
The 500i is right around $400 more than the 572xp
Put a Steadfast Forestry muffler on the 572! 10% horsepower gain. Easy upgrade!!
