Thank you for watching, and happy practicing! =D

Katy goes snappy!
The Scotch snap, as suggested by its name, originates from Scotland (not really...read on) and thus is a unique rhythmic characteristic of Scottish music a very short accented note before a longer note
a Strathspay is a dance tune in 4/4..
just in case anyone is interested its a sixteenth-note on the beat
followed by a dotted eighth-note.the Scotch snap is actually a technique we took from Baroque music
1600 to 1750 so it was around long before we got our hands on it
:)
some styles, including the Cape Breton style, play strathspeys much quicker!
katy this is a brilliant video!
+dave dave Oh wow! Thank you for the information about the Scottish Snap! It really does sound very Baroque - I never really made that connection, but the more I listen to how others play the tune, the more Baroque-ish it sounds (but still sounds very Scottish! =) ). I really like the melody of the tune, and the snappy part is really fun! (= I think I want to listen to a Cape Breton version of a few strathspeys and compare them to Scottish versions. I like trying to figure out the differences between how people from different regions play the tunes. =) Thank you for your comment! ^_^
You are a great teacher. Thank you so much for all you do! Love this tune.
Thanks so much, Katy. Not only are you an amazing fiddle player, you are a great teacher, too! Singing the note you are playing is really helpful for me trying to follow along.
Thank you Robert! I'm glad that singing the notes helps. ^_^ It's kind of hard for me to say and play the notes at the same time, but I remember that it helped me a lot when teachers said the notes when I was first learning how to play tunes by ear. I hope you have fun practicing! Happy fiddling! =)
Another really great lesson, Katy. I sure like the way you have the links to various parts of your video laid out as an overlay, so I don't have to search or listen to stuff I already feel okay with. You just make the best tutorials for learning the notes. You strike the perfect balance between speed and repetition. Thanks so much.
Thank you Katy, for teaching us how to play all those lovely tunes, I watch your channel every single day!
Very beautiful video and melody, but more beautiful, her eyes and her voice. Thank you dear Katy!

+Luis Felipe Magalhaes Thank you, Luis! =) The Banks of Spey is a really cool tune. There's something about it that makes it so neat, but I'm not quite sure what! ^_^
***** Katy, Perhaps all this atmosphere and the whole mood and Scottish culture contribute to that music becomes so clean and pure. :)
