    Other than playing a loop of Seraphim in the background, I think it would be cool to have a live view of seraphim going on in the background.

      Elite Dangerous does this on their livestreams, and its fantastic because it never takes people too long to find what station its being streamed from and start messing around in the background

    Add elasticity to the physics. Elasticity (putting vector angular change potential on a subtractive curve) and plasticity (putting normal acceleration change on a subtractive curve) in physics, with values determined by the surface material (whatever is reference by the audio system for impulse foley) would do wonders to not cause instant stops / smooth over edge cases

      Also damping. There's been so many times I've stacked bodies in the back of my Nomad, only for them to start vibrating so badly that that damage the hull and the ship explodes.

    For stealth it would be really nice if there was some kind of camo netting or ir shielding device we could setup on or next to out ships once they are landed and turned off to make them almost as stealthy as ground vehicles.
    Currently to avoid detection by players at places like Jumptown you've got to park like 80 km out, which makes for a long drive, and even then, even when you park in a steep valley with tall mountains on either side and your ship completely shut off, anyone casually flying within 30km will see your ship without even having to look for it. (I know this varies by ship, Terrapin and Pices very stealthy, but I still think it shouldn't be THAT easy to spot a Freelancer or Cutlass if the owner tried to hide it "in the weeds".

      IMO landed and unpowered ships should have a super small detection range. A fighter would be like 200 meters, a carrack at like 2km. At events like Jumptown you will really struggle to hide landed ships and they're super vulnerable to attack from above.
      Maybe have them show up on pings still, but there's a lot of noise to filter through with minables. Ship debris and cargo containers should also show up on pings!

    A lot of us care, Jared, never change. The segue from the Segway was beautifully punctuated by the body floating past the window. That said, it's rather concerning to hear them saying that if someone has a QT Dampener active, you'll be limited to SCM speed, even if you are in nav mode and flying full burn. So, the idea that you can either stand and fight or run away is gone. If there's a QT Dampener active, your only choice is to stand and die.

    Pets should wander the ship and lay on beds/chairs all the time, just like my dogs do. Cats should be up on counters or back of chairs, etc.

    speaking of vehicle gameplay
    i have an idea of leting players drive their hoverbike or car to reach the facilities in the city if they want instead of have to take the transit everytime

      Can you imagine the carnage though? They did allow you drive buggies before in the social module during the hangar days, ppl went around crashing into each other, it was fun, but now it would just be a hassle.

    First thank you for answering my question (Corsair engines falling off). Tanks should CRUSH rocks, same with trees and other items. And that question about drafting ships etc. Physics, real life physics. Talk to pilots. When you get in the slipstream, engine wash, vortex turbulence, depending on the aerodynamics of the ship caught in it, will determine what happens. Say you are in a Gladius or Sabre, it will rock you around but you should be able to maintain control and get yourself back in that 'sweet spot' like aircraft do for air to air refueling. Fall to out of that sweet spot and the turbulence pushes you past the boundary, the ship re-enters "clean" air and normal flight control is how it ends up. Now if it is extreme turbulence combined with weather, afterburner, etc... it can cause loss of control of an aircraft and it falls on the pilot to regain that control and level flight once they are out of that cause.

      It slightly depends on the type of tank, but I can tell you from experience that driving over trees in a tank or rocks isn't as easy as most people think. It works rather well with driving over cars because they're metal of metal designed to deform so the weight just crushes them. But never ever try to hit a tree or a rock in a tank at a high speed. Slowly cutting a tree down by putting pressure on it works, as long as the trees aren't in a mixed forest (deep and flat roots interconnected), but just ramming them like people see in older games isn't very realistic.
      You probably won't do all to much damage to the tank, but because it doesn't deform you will absolutely wreck your crew, as they are definitely the "loosest" part of the tank and will take massive amounts of the kinetic force.

    Guys fix the ASOP terminal issues for the 890J please!
    If you take the ship out and use it, you can’t store it ! It won’t claim for insurance either … the whole thing is a mess. No other ship has this issue from what I can tell.

    The idea of 'masking' by falsifying heat signature is a good idea. BUT you would need to know the emission profile of X or Y ship to be able to mimic it.

      As it should be I think. Knowledge of the world and the specific vehicles, their attributes, weapons, systems etc. should be the main determining factor of how well a person is able to pull off what they want to.
      I'm kind of curious how that masking would look to the player on the other end, right now our radar tells us the model of the ship when we target it, would it report a false model type, or just kind of be glitchy.

      They test the features after they are made, but if you read the SQ42 monthly report it shows they are working on a landing UI.

    I would not even be mad if this headlight rework was introduced in the form of giving us the freedom of buying custom headlights, instead of blanket-reworking every single ship with one samey design with equal lighting performance
    Keep the ships with their current headlights, but turn them into a component we can swap out with multiple choices at stores, be it high-performance headlights, cheap quality ones, etc

    Glad to hear it's still a consideration, I always assumed internal reloading was an intended feature down the road since the Valkyrie launched with labelled hatches for ballistic reloading.

    One thing that I think causes the perception of floaty vehicles that flip at every rock is that we don't feel speed. As far as I know all speed indicators are in m/s and I think the Nova can go at around 20 m/s which is about 70km/h. And the tank weighs in at chonky 135 tons! 135 tons going at 70km/h will do weird things when it hits an immovable object.
    In fact, ALL the ground vehicles in SC are weirdly heavy. The Cyclone is over 6t! Twice the mass of a family car. The PTV buggy is 2.5t
    It might be that they are artificially this heavy just to make them play as nice as they are in the game.

    I am very excited by the talk about Ground vehicles getting less than 100% acceleration in future (I drive with joystick atm)
    I COMPLETELY agree that internal reload of ballistics should be a thing, particularly for ships like the Hammerhead, "Turret 1 Winchester!" Engineer runs over and throws a new box into the feed "Turret 1 Ready!" pew pew pew.
    But ALSO! for reloading fighters, I would recommend having attach and detach allow ammo reload without pulling the whole gun off.
    like a small box you pull out of the gun (empty clip) and attach a new box

    I just spend few hours mining with the ROC: The new physics for ground vehicles makes the ROC really hard to use, especially in hilly and mountainous areas. Every now and than the ROC glide away even with engines OFF. It glides away even when mining, on the side or backward or forward. Going backwards or forward on small hills does not work (not enough traction or power?). As a player turns the engines on the ROC sounds like it's always in full power, the engine noise is kind off.
    Hope there is a fix soon.

    What does the QT drive have to do with your engines?!?!?! Why would being dampened and being unable to jump out have anything to do with you engines and speed??? That doesn't make sense to me at all...

    As CIG says all the time, just because you can develop games, doesn't mean you're good at them. E:D has decoupled rotations and it's just fine. In particular, it allows you to match rotation and orbit with only one thruster input.

    Hoverbikes. Okay...so at 35:00 they're talking about this. I know that technically you're going very fast on these bikes. But, it feels and looks slow. And then you blow up when the terrain sneezes in your direction so you're always driving like you're terrified of existing. It's not a fun experience.

    Regarding decoupled rotation, it would be great to perhaps have a half decoupled (movement only) and full decoupled (movement + rotation) mode for those that want it. Personally I think decoupled rotation will be hard to master but worth the time investment and I think it would be very beneficial for larger ships, especially. The addition of a secondary space brake for rotation only I think would also make sense. Just my pennies worth :D Great job guys!

    The headlights on the Fury are one of those things I don't bother turning on. There's so much reflection off the body of the ship it basically does nothing to help you see the environment.

    funny, i always bound mobiglas to TAB as one of the first things i did every time i took SC for another spin. thats just where that is supposed to be, i think standard was some F-key or something weird?
    EDIT: btw. easy fix for the physics collision spikes is to set a reasonable maximum for the impulse.

      I prefer the F keys. F1 is mobiglas, F2 is starmap and F11 is chat/contacts. I would add in F3, F4, F5 etc for each tab on the Mobiglas, if it was my choice.

      @@Toutvids It's always bothered me they didn't just line up the function keys with the tabs in mobiglass so the order is the same. It's much more intuitive that way imo. Tab is inventory in many games across all genres so it makes sense in that context but most games have a lot less going on too. At least you can change everything and export controls to share/backup for people like me that change pretty much every mapping. I remove most things from the keyboard so I can have ground vehicle controls exclusive to gamepad and flight on HOTAS which leaves a lot more room on kb/m for on-foot controls.

      Yes it’s a stupid imo that’s it’s not TAB by default, especially for people who don’t have F keys on their compact keyboards (or even numpads like me).

      @@RonJeremy514 I have a compact Logitech wireless keyboard and it has all the F keys on it. Most gamers use full size keyboards.

      @@Toutvids Most yes, not all (especially typists and people going to e-sport events bringing their own gear) and full size keyboards take a lot of space. I have a wide desk with wide mousepad, my previous mouse on 1000 dpi setting was still hitting the keyboard (a Logitech G502 X Plus wireless, previously was on the legacy model G502 Proteus Core, such a good mouse this one). Also there are 60% keyboards and those don't have F keys. Mine is a TKL 75% and not a bad one at that, it's a Keychron Q1 Pro. I have real estate to move my mouse around, it's a massive difference in comfort.
      Numpads are in practice useless because it's redundant, you already a row of numbers above the main characters and TKLs cover all existing keys except a few ones but it's customizable nonetheless through softwares and macros.

    Some ships have super bright Interior lights that make it terrible to fly around in at night. Example the Valkyrie, its Terrible with those pillar lights.

      So what’s the reason for being slowed down from NAV speeds and switched to SCM speeds if snared? Does the snare magically take over my thrusters and hit the magic space brakes?

      ​@@SaraH-ph4qmit makes sense from a gameplay perspective. You can only fight/attack/engage in SCM speed... if you snare someone and they are at the edge of the Snare Bubble they will be 20km away. So if the snared guy would automatically entet NAV, while you are in SCM it's basically impossible to catch up to him. That would make the whole QED gameplay useless.
      So from a gameplay perspective it makes sense to put the snaed person in SCM mode. But i guess they have to find a "plausible" in-lore explanantion how a QED would disable NAV mode.
      Maybe the Quantum snare overloads the systems and the engines doesn't find enough power to work on full speed, because the power is focussed on more crucial things such as life support, gravity generators, shields etc.

    when are we going to get "cruise control" for ground vehicles? if they are looking for parity of controls and systems with ships, hopefully this will be a thing. set a speed and then just use steering to control the vehicle, and tapping the brake turns it off.

    I still can't get used to Tab not being inventory, because I'm so used to that from various survival games. To this day I still hit it to open the inventory or try to close it and get irritated that I have to reach across the keyboard instead. I don't know why I simply haven't remapped it yet.

      Even better, let us configure our own custom coupled modes! I don’t understand why a game as detailed as this, they think that the primary game play situation (flying a ship) needs to be restricted to just two modes! I can vary my walk speed infinitely but when it comes to flying my ship, sorry it’s either slow and stupid or fast and dumb.

    Just make ALL buttons/maps user settable and the problem is solved. I use tab as my target lock in FPS games, for example.

    putting ping to HOLD V was terrible, and the worst is you cant switch it back to tap like a normal person would want

    Your current thought process for Master Modes does nothing but make your haulers sitting ducks.
    Leaving a player with absolutely no counterplay is not fun.

    Gladiator can't even swap out its torpedos.
    It's atmospheric flight is godawful.
    The turret is awful.
    There is a reddit post where it shows what the Gladiator should be, YOU KNOW THE ONE!
