    MOST FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS:
Q: How do you have internet at your cabins? A: I have cell service at both cabins but it is spotty due to foliage and cloud cover. I can access the internet from my cabins but have to drive to a local wifi location to upload videos.
Q: How old is Frankie? A: Frankie will be 10 in April of 2018
Q: What video editing software do I use? A: Presently, all I use is Windows Live Movie maker but I’m considering trying imovie, Adobe Elements or SONY VEGAS PRO.
Q: How do you get your water? Did you dig a well? A: Presently, I haul water to the NY cabin but at the NH cabin, I drop a kettle into an old well that was dug by hand by the settlers in the 1700’s.
Q:What is your favorite brand of cast iron cookware? A: I prefer using vintage cast iron. My favorites are BSR and Griswold. If I had to buy new I would buy a Lodge Brand. I plan to purchase this dutch oven in the future:
Q: What do you use for refrigeration? A: We have a small gas refrigerator that we salvaged from an old Shasta camper and a custom icebox that I built into the cabin wall. We make ice on site with a propane freezer.
    Video of icebox:
    Video of Gas Refrigerator:
    Propane Freezer:
Q: What do you use for cooking and heating? A: We use a Kitchen Queen 380 for cooking and heating during the winter months but we also have an antique gas stove in the cabin for when we don't need the heat from the KQ.

Ive been re-watching some old JC videos and thought this one would be a good....So I guess I would say from the last couple years that he made the right decision(s)! 😁 You two have worked very hard and accomplished beautiful things! My prayers to Boss on his surgery and recovery. And to you for your continued strength. Let him know we are all rooting for you two! Peace.

This video hit home. I grew up in the city. My mother was the city girl but my dad was a country boy at heart. Every Sunday, very early in the morning, he, hus brother, my cousin and some friends would go hiking in the woods and just hang out, making a campfire, cooking some goid food and enjoying nature. In the afternoon, he would take all 6 of us kids and find a magical spot to explore. A small creek with a fallen tree, where we would swim, a clearing with beautiful, filtered sunrays where we played catch or hide and seek, beautiful, rolling hills, ehere ee would roll on the grass in the summer, and sled in the winter. Out if the six of us, I am the only one who kept this deep love for nature in my heart. When I left my native country and moved to America, I eventually joined the military and was moved from city to city. My final assignment was in California, and I absolutely hated it. I cane to visit Washington State and immediately fell in love. It felt like home and we bought a place in s rural area. We are not quite in the woods but because our neighbors and us all have some acreage, it feels like we are. My dad came to visit a year before he passed and loved the place. This was the stamp of approval for me. We have a small herd of deer visiting every day, rabbits and birds fluttering about a beautiful butterflies enjoying the flowers we planted everywhere. I would not ever live in the city or, God forbid, in an apartment. My soul is at peace here. I don't know how people find satisfaction in the rat race.

I grew up in the woods and even now the smell of the woods- different with each few yards you walk- is really important tome and affects my mood (positively). And I too played with newts and salamanders as a child. Never kept them. Just picked them up and looked at them and then put them back. Some were orange and some were brown and spotted. We just called them all "salamanders". "Lightning bugs" were also fun! (Northern NJ in the 1950s and 1960s).

I really enjoy your videos. Was lucky enough to have a friend whose grand dad and some friends bought a half a lake up in Canada back in the 1940's. They build a log cabin and a few out blogs, which was neglected until my buddy took it on as a project. Lack of money led to creativity and he would invite groups of talented guys up, who helped him fix the place up. Eventually he bought out the other owners. Cabin had a lot of your elements...A border collie who loved to chase a frisbee, a wood cook stove (think it was a Crawford), lots of old tools, no electricity, no running water, no telephone, a group of good friends, cold beer, adventurous fishing trips down old winding logging roads. My health isn't good enough to go up anymore, but your videos make me very happy.

Haven't seen one of those orange newts since about 1950s-60s. We used to play in the creek and also saw the big black with yellow spot newts. Also tiny ring neck snakes. Hognose snakes turned over and played "dead" to try and fool us. Lots of fun in the woods. Too many poisons being used now on lawns run down to the creeks and rivers. Love your recollections!

I use to live up in your neck of the woods years ago. Had a home in upstate NY near the PA Border. Am from the SW corner of PA & WV. The area looks so much like my uncles old farm stead. The 1st homes was from the late 1800 & the newer one from the early 1900. The farm is long gone. The old folks have pasted on & there is little left of the homestead but the outhouse & the old decaying barn.
They had this huge old Walnut tree that two man couldn't put their arms around. To get out to the house you had to cut over the ridge for several miles on a single lane dirt road. SO many memories.
    Thanks for the memory jog.

the high altitude I can live with, with the quietness. my land was bare when I moved here, so I planted pine trees all around the property. my favorite are the long pines because of the music they play when the wind blows. Frankie looked funny 😊

I can see why you love the NH Cabin more than anyplace else - it is what I think of when I think of a cabin in the woods. I'm soooooo glad you decided to keep it and now to make it your only home. This is a super exciting chapter of your life's journey. Cheers to you and charting a really cool course for the next few years. I sure hope you can do some videos on how you condense three places into one - that will help all of us learn by your example. I love these NH videos.

I'll be buying a place somewhere close to the NH cabin so that I'll have a safe place to park my vehicles in winter as well as my quads and stuff when I travel. I don't dare leave them that far in the woods unattended and the closest I can park or drive to the cabin in winter is 1 1/2 miles. I'm using this as a business opportunity as well which you will see in a future video. Selling land, buying land, moving out and moving in. Going to be an interesting year.

You may be interested in a wonderful insect spray, cedar oil. You can spray it directly on your skin, cloths etc. It keeps away the no- see- ems, black flys etc. and if you have a little extra time you can polish your furniture, plus it always smells great. Sometimes I use it when I'm in the apiary if the honeybees are a little pissed. Tom

linebergster I use cedar oil combined with eucalyptus and it works pretty well as a bug repellent.

This is similar to a place my grandfather built in Whitefield in the 60's. It's not as secluded as it used to be but still wonderful to visit. Lovely video:)

JC, the way you started this video with the shot of your feet with a view from under the truck, if not a sign of professionalism at least that you care about the quality of your work. What also struck me about seeing the old family vacation home was the fact that after all that time of being left alone, there was no vandalism. That tells me that the people in that area are pretty decent honest people. God Bless - Chris

Hi Chris. Thank you once again for your compliments as they are very much appreciated. Last year the front windows were broken and the camp suffered a little vandalism, but that was the first time in many years that I had issues with it. There seems to be a lot more respect in NH than I have experienced in other areas but there are bad apples everywhere unfortunately. I will be restoring the place and then bouncing back and forth between my 2 cabins after I sell off the homestead. Some interesting times ahead. Thanks again for all your views and comments.

Even the mug took you back.. I have a old tea set of my mother's and the cups are tiny.. back in the day when all things were in moderation.. I can see my mother and friends siting around sipping on them! I love this place just because of the memories... something about the past that can consume the soul quite rapidly. :That Frankie with the salamander on his nose.. he even has a reverence for the forest critters. If it were me it would be hard to sale the place or even leave it! Blessings to you and Frankie!

They'll be some camp restoration vids coming in the future. A new chapter emerges. Thank you for all your views and comments.
