2:33 DEFINITELY NOT TRUE. We NEED houses. It’s part of the lifestyle gameplay that TDU once was. Being able to change your flooring and walls and swapping out different furniture as well as adding poster photos to your walls. Just wouldn’t be the same without the penthouse suites and the mega mansions with the waterfalls running through the living room.
Couldn't agree more! 100%
Or else, it's just another copy of Forza Horizon innit?
Yes. This game needs anything that can differentiate it from the forza horizon series so that people new to the test drive series would actually consider getting it, because unless you're a long time fan of this series or don't want to cough up 70$ this is just another forza horizon
They already said, multiple times, the houses will arrive in a post launch update
its pretty bad...they shouldve had houses from the start of development....absolute joke...not a room/apartments....actaul HOUSES/Mansions...pretty slack.
I wish they had people walking around the environment so that the game really felt lived in.
Honestly don't understand why car games don't do this. Such a critical part that adds so much more immersion to the game. I love the city choice being HK but it just misses the extra vibrance with no npcs walking around.
I agree
You’re right, the game has so much potential if there were things going on and people waking around. It sucks that we don’t have that in almost any racing game 🫠
NFS Unbound, have people in street.
Like The Crew 2!
One thing that grinds my gears and that's that the cars float on top of the road. The tyres aren't in full contact with the road so they look like boats.
Thought I was the only one who noticed that until I read your comment. That's my only pet peeve so far. I need to see more game play before I make a decision, the cars look absolutely stunning though.
It reminds me a lot of NFS heat
A lot of racing games still have that issue idk why
While I agree to an extent, I suspect I'll be using wheel/pedals and interior view so it won't bug me at all (assuming wheel supported)!
First thing I noticed and instantly made me question getting this game
Needs way more traffic and shadows under the car. Not seeing shadows under the wheels makes it look like the cars are floating.
This video isn't new, it was recorder before the trailer came out.... and it looks so good but the more recent gameplay is from yianni, google it
If they just position the camera a little lower so that you can see the wheels I think that would fix the problem.
@@chewthegum Has nothing to do with it so it wouldn't. Look at the release date trailer.
@@DeejayJeanP
Release date trailer looks fine to me except for a few specific scenes where reflections make things look a little wonky. There are definitely shadows.
Not only is it the shadows, But the cars dont react to imperfections on the road. Theres like no natural frequency on the suspenion, It just glides smoothly with no effect in the camera pov or in movement of the vehicle. The crew motorfest did a better job with this, they made the cars feel more aggressive and the camera made it feel like you were flying on a road on the edge of grip.
Now imagine the 30 minute intro, fast cars, solar hotel, fame, and all of a sudden you wake up in a crappy caravan with your bucket of a car
I would love that progression
But i do understand the newer ones to the franchise may not be so thrilled about it
Or at the valet stand
@@tronn_carter where have I seen that before 🤔😂
@@Vnyatka hmm…. 😂😂😂
For me, it’s really the little things from the previous TDU titles that made TDU what it was that they’re missing from this title. One thing is the vehicle-specific gauges. Can’t remember if the first game had these but I know the second game had them and did a very good job at giving each vehicle its real-life tachometer and even speedometer if using bumper cam instead of just having a default tac for every car. Another thing is the fonts and sounds they use when scrolling through a menu and selecting an item. Usually I wouldn’t care about this type of thing in any other racing game but it’s just something about the way TDU2 did the fonts and sound effects that made the game THAT much more special. Also just the soundtrack as a whole. Menu music, driving music, lobby music, store music, house music…car wash music😉…and the way each property had its own soundtrack that would really amp the feel of where you were at. I don’t know what the soundtrack is like in Solar Crown but I’m praying that it’s good.
Just my $0.02. I’m excited nonetheless 😊
I agree with you. The sounds especially when you enter the dealership were godly. They said houses are gonna be added so maybe in the feature we will have a complete test drive… also dealerships look stunning so maybe it will actually be a pure trst drive experience
EXACTLY. All the little details you mentionned are what makes a game stay in our heart forever ..
The first tdu did indeed have unique gauges even for the bikes! And even for the special dlc cars that barely anyone knew existed in the game. I hope they bring unique gauges, houses and more to this game
YES!!! YES, YES!!!
The “real life” tachometer was so SPECIAL! One of the things that made me a TDU fan. Unique details. I’ll miss this very much if they use this generic rev counter. It was so nice to change the car and the speedometer and rev counter change too.
Let’s start a campaign for implement of the real gauges hahaahaha
YES EXACTLY! I loved the Brand specific gauges In TDU 2, it's just those little things that made that game so good, i didn't think anyone else cared about that ahaha
At last proper progression!! I missed that feeling of working hard to get a something you really want
That’s the only reason I don’t like Forza horizon, killed my joy when they gave me a Bugatti after 20 min in the game
did you see the cars they got to pick at the begninning and the house they put u in we have a garage with 6 slots in a luxury hotel i think we might as well get handed 10 million$ and all the cars in the begninning
idk man starting out with a Nissan gtr 2024 is quite a bit faster compared to starting out with something such as a Lotus elise in tdu 1
@@eanyon2 what you start out with a Nissan 370Z a mustang and a alpine
@@loafofbread1233 ah i thought the nissan gtr was a starter car for some reason sorry😅
The limited steering animation is worrying me. It's been a proper wish by many to have the cockpit steering wheel animation like Midnight Club LA and The Crew Motorfest. Hopefully it'll be there at release or even added on later. No Crossplay is really not acceptable in 2024 anymore. For the rest it looks good and what a TDU follow up should look like (hoping for the houses update to be coming soon).
Yeah, steering and shifting animation could be better, it looks way too stiff.
And the no crossplay is really annoying.
Crew for playstation will remain goated until they perfect this game. Forza is brilliant but i think crew motorfest in terms of aesthetics and mechanics is amazing
The steering animation is especially annoying when you're playing on a wheel with realistic rotation degree
Yeah, they made great detailed interiors of the cars but the steering wheel turning breaks the immersion and makes you to switch camera to the third person.
@@PavelStean there is still the dashboard view without the wheel, wich I might use since I'll likely use my own steering wheel to play the game.
I love that they let us choose other OEM rims, also the choice of starter cars is perfect in my opinion
I'm gonna go with the Alpine. It's not often that we get to choose a French car as a starter.
@@Soxynos same, even that I'm mot French, I love Alpine
Yep! I was concerned about that, but thankfully we can choose OEM wheels when buying the car. The interior is other nice touch that TDU had and is going to have again.
That things made me TDU fan as a kid. The only thing that bothers me, for now, is the generic rev counter. Let’s hope for a change, and they use the real life cluster for every car.
@@Soxynos I’m going 370z I love that car
@@loafofbread1233 that would have been my second choice
Sometimes the game looks so beautiful and sometimes it’s a mess. I hope it’s fixed when released
Probably it won't. It looked that way since first trailers from like year ago?
So nice to see game developers putting care and effort into racing games... The game looks beautiful.
Looks much better than forza and crew motorfest

Better than crew motorfest which is an AAA game

I’m from Hong Kong and to me
I’m excited to see a racing game use Hong Kong as their map
But this map is 60 - 70 % accurate to real Hong Kong Island
Some of the details they can do better
Like the blue turn signs, stores signs, and mountain roads that are too wide
Also, I don’t see it from the gameplay from now, but one of the iconic features from HK island they should recreate
Are the steep roads that looks like you are in San Francisco
I understand that there must be some tweaks for the game to be playable
But I think these little details could make people who have never been to Hong Kong gain a better understanding to this place
True. The hills around Central would be great to drive around. The graphics I think look to sterile and clean. It lacks the real grittyness of real life, something like an upgraded Sleeping Dogs would seem more real.
They fucked up the whole Causeway bay area
Please don't too harsh on the accuracy , for me 60-70% is acceptable as they didn't say this is "real map" (you can say "base on" real map...), but I agree the street is too "clean" and... you know... traffic in HK island is fuxking overcrowded. Also it's so weird that no pedestrian in Wanchai / CWB.
all these racing game companies make these streets too wide like are we going to drive f**** tanks on these roads?
@@scottlo3621 They literally said it is 1:1 Hong Kong map

I hope not, traffic in these type of games are cool in the first 10minutes, but during the races or fazt runs are frustrating

Driving on the left, with left hand drive cars, details like this really annoy me most the cars should be right hand drive
imagine having the steering wheel on the right side 💀💀💀
I don't mind progression as long as it doesn't devolve into grind for the sake of making the experience longer.
Visually it looks decent, nothing ground breaking but that's okay. It's on par with other racers.
Also, it nice to see the chase cam isn't stuck to the bumper.
I noticed that chase camera is very similar in location and movement to the closely related chase camera tdu2, but is located a little higher, and that’s cool
@@sanchygames7286 Yes, it is similar to that (from memory) which makes sense. I'm just happy they didn't follow the GT way with a fixed camera as I find that horrible to use.
I do hope that there is car shops like tdu2 and not all in the hotel
so weird seeing a game map based on where i live, never thought HK would be in a racing game, dope. some of the areas and nature dont really look like hong kong but its still cool to see a map set here, plus i still get the hk vibe.
I've mostly been playing "Crew Motorfest 2 and "Gran Turismo 7. I can't wait to give this a try and hopefully to have fun with it.
Thanks, Scott for this! This was really insightful. September cant come soon enough.

How does it look nice?
@@zeincexxx1285 Considering the small team that's behind the game this looks amazing. This is their first open world racing game so they did an amazing job. Previously they were only making WRC games.
@@akiplay312 Cool, then they should've made their own game instead of draging Test Drive into this. It looks fairly unfinished and since there isn't really much time till release, I highly doubt they will improve this significantly...
@@zeincexxx1285 well they have some ex tdu devs from what I've heard so yeah that's why they dragged tdu. It's just that they don't have a budget like they did with Atari. @@akiplay312 I don't see any improvement since the closed beta to be honest.
Handling wasn't really good, physics aren't good, graphics are average at best, empty world...
They should've focused on the core game instead of all this glamour bs that already was in TDU2.
I'll be very Happy If they prove me wrong.
They had the blueprint and chose to reinvent the wheel.

My excitement has definitely gone up since playing it
@@GameRiot Do you have any more gameplay of you cruising around the map?
The Chase cam needs more sway to it hopefully it can be adjusted
It definitely needs more because it looks stiff atm, but not too much. I don't want it to feel like Need for Speed.

@@raphaelmorais3483 it needs more sway
Cars dont react to the roads like at all, The steering makes it feel like you're barely turning your car and the suspension animation and feeling is almost next to nothing. Cars are supposed to feel rough and bumpy when you're driving fast. Camera should be shaking from all the bumps on the road😊

The house, and the ability to freely walk around that, as well as to freely walk around my owned cars in my own garage is what made the original TDU my favourite driving game - even though the driving mechanics weren't that good in comparison to others - it was more of a driving lifestyle game, but being able to walk between my cars in the garage - or the ability to walk into a showroom and again walk around them freely - not snap to car or a raised platform that auto switches cars out - can not be overstated on how important it is to TDU... (IMO)
That chase cam looks weird and my god the 812 sounds so good
I think this footage is definitely older. It has no particle effects when offroading, which is featured in the release date trailer.
yes it is older footage
The well deserved treatment to a guy like yourself. I'm glad you got go to "Paris and have a good time and enjoy game. The driving seems smooth so far.
I love the bass in the sound effects when making selections in the Workshops.
11:15 I'm so glad that they're offering factory options including wheels and interiors. I loved that about TDU1 and 2. I just miss the individual dealerships they had. It was so unique.
Looks great for early WIP gameplay, can't wait to test it out.
What if I told you this wasn't early gameplay
@@GodTierComments WIP footage so not final
@@FH3YT Not early though, the game is out in 100 days... It goes gold in maybe two months
@GodTierComments it is early. There are no dust particles. This is the version they let people play. This doesn't mean that this is where they are now in terms of development so 100days is irrelevant.
All it needs now is way more traffic and pedestrians.
Absolutely phenomenal vehicle audios, they knocked it ourcif the park with the sounds
TDU Devs.. properties are what made the older TDU games so great. Driving to a realtor office to purchase property. That feeling of accomplishment by saving up and owning multiple homes and having your friends come over. Having one home be all Ferraris, one all Lamborghini etc. Please think about bringing this down the road. Otherwise it does not feel like an original TDU game. Feels like just another Horizon game. Please.
Still excited and will buy, but want those more rewarding experiences in the game
They already stated that houses are coming post launch you will also get more appartments and garages at the solar hotel as you progress through the game

The cars sound great! Especially the Corvette, Alpine and 4C
Will they activate the navigation screen inside the cars like the old ones? Kinda don’t want the mini map on my HUD

@Boston2Boca it's called personal opinion, and my opinion is that at this stage it doesn't look good
Only thing I’m disliking right now is the steering animation, it looks half assed and the fact we can’t buy properties
This has massive potential to be the best modern racing game. They've came long way from the early alpha shots and TDUConnect footage. Glad they havent rushed with this game. My only grope is the steering wheel rotation in cockpit. It reminds too much of The Crew 2. Hope theyll still improve this aspect.
Modern? But doesn't have cross play. This game won't last at all. Look at the crew motorfest it didn't have cross play and is why sales were Soo low when it first came out and also player count is decreasing ridiculously. I won the game and it's Soo dead now.
This is honestly what I expected. Although not released yet I told my wife that I fear that this would be a cross between NFS, The Crew, and Forza. From the looks of this gameplay I see a reskinned The Crew 2 with additional features. Hopefully it improves from this video becasue obviouslly they can design a game better than I can but it doesnt look its best.
No - people did not like the garage more than properties....a dyslexic parrot could've told them that!!
@GameRiot
Could you upload the raw gameplay just to hear the engine sounds :D
Yeah for real i want to hear the sounds in the game
I'll ask but at the moment I can't
The Ford Raptor gameplay at 6:59 looks so dang good, Off-roading might be a lot of my game time 😭 the night time atmosphere looks great too!! So hyped for a new racing game, especially with more progression?!
That game graphic is nice. You can view the interior of the car you're in how cool? What system are you playing that on?
The game is not consistent in terms of framerate, for a game that is delayed like a few times and its online only is disappointing imo, and to add fuel to the fire, they are missing a lot of features that should be there in the beginning, they should fix the framerate and some issues before releasing this game.
This looks amazing, very impresive for a AA studio and AA budget. Test drive is back!
The speedo dials don't change to reflect the dials of the vehicles like they did previously.
Will there be an option to slightly unattach the chase camera? Seems a bit stiff when you turn amd drift.
Did they mention anything about bikes?
That's the typical starter cars of almost every racing game. Mustang/Camaro 350/370z and some car no one ever picks.
Really excited for this game and after seeing gameplay i probably will pre-order it (hopefully we dont get a repeat of FH5 at launch where the servers dont work on day one but hopefully Nacon can deliver)
But a couple of things:
1. I was a little worried about the starter car choice but after thinking about it, other than the Alpine, a Mustang or a 370z is probably a lot of peoples starter cars to get into street racing
2. Nacon is wrong about the houses, houses were an INTEGRAL part of everyone's love for TDU 2. Making the paintings on the wall your in game photos, changing the wallpapers and couches and the closet where you could change clothes were essential in the game and made people want to keep playing to buy more expensive cars and houses. I know they said they were eventually thinking about adding properties in the map but that honestly should have been a higher priority than just making a 6 car garage.
3. The gameplay looks great and im glad they kept a lot of the lifestyle features like blinkers and convertible rooftops and personalizing your car in the dealership to a specific spec of your liking rather than just choosing 1 paint color.
Hopefully this game is great and becomes so popular that it becomes real competition for AAA racing games. I love NFS Unbound, i love FH5, i like GT7, i like TCM, im ok with Forza Motorsport, but its very apparent that those franchises (except maybe NFS) have gotten comfortable and dont take risks or they copy other game formulas due to their popularity because they dont really have that competition and i hope this game gives them all a run for their money so they're forced to evolve
My goodness, I can’t wait
Looks great, but I'm really disappointed in the amount of traffic. Looks like there's barely any other cars just like every other racing game.
Also the city looks empty without the people in it
You say that but if you ever played crew two there's loads of traffic on the roads as well as npcs walking up and down the path
Couldn't agree with you more it really makes 0 f*cking sense to have a Bugatti right from rhe get go i wanna have a vw Golf or whatever starting car i am really exited but of course also a little little bit sceptical but who knows maybe its going to be a absolute banger (:
It makes sense when you watch the trailer. Your character is NOT new to this, and the solar crown is not an entry level event. This is years and years of working their way to this event.

This seems to become more than just a game/driving simulator. It's possibly becoming something very special 👍
why did they remove properties this was the first ever td i would have ever bought and the whole reason is because its not just a car game where you buy cars and drive them but also being able to own properties was also a big selling point of this game for me!

Test drive is back. And If Test drive fans support this game , then, forza horizon and the crewmotorfest has a real problem on their hands because my childhood has returned with vengeance.
You know what? I support the game if it's worth it. For me, however, the warning signals are unfortunately getting louder and louder with every new piece of information. I'm certainly not going to buy the game just because it says Test Drive Unlimited on the box. For me, it has to have Test Drive Unlimited in it. And I have my doubts about that...

Only complaint I have is definitely the UI it was much cooler to have every single Car with is own original one like in TDU or Project Gotham 4. I'm kind of sad they didn't implement.
As a HongKonger, if there are more double-decker bus, and other public transport, it gives more realistic atmosphere of HK. building a very unique game up from Forza Horizon & Need for Speed.

I won’t lie, when you dont have things like pedestrians walking around and the most up to date versions of cars (I.e. 2009 GTR instead of 2017+, F150 Raptor Eco Boost instead of the new Raptor R V8 Supercharged) I can let it slide bc I know you put crazy effort into the cars n features you did include in the game.
First thing I looked for was a more fuller operational gauge cluster. It’s still early so maybe that’s in the works, but I would’ve expected the Boost gauges to work in cars. I can’t imagine you added the gauge then said “let’s pretend it works.” Some cars have G-Force meters, power meters (hp and tq) and what not. Some have navigation in the gauge cluster. Will we have operational “TDU” style navigation screens in the cars?? Bc I LOVED that about TDU2.

The map feels empty
this is an older build of the game
Looks like a very good start of an open world driving game/simulator. Hope it sells well so they continue to make it grow with more features. In a few years it could be the no. one open world driving game? But it will eventually need VR. That is the wave that all driving games must get on board with now.
Back in the day, it was midnight club franchise for me but, Test drive was always a cool alternative. I hope this game do well.
No exterior customization is a damn shame
Test drive has never had it, and doesn't need it, same for assetto, and i even find myself leaving stock parts on most cars in the crew and forza nowadays. It's classy game, I'll be happy to see no cringe forza aero on everything tbh 😂
@@sckxxter TDU1 used to let you chose the colour and finishes of your interior depending on what the manufacturer would have on offer. I believe it was the same with TDU2, but don't quote me on this one.
@@impointr this too! Manufacturers OEM interior design, wheel selection and exterior color choices is the test drive standard since 2005!
@@sckxxter Oh wait ignore my comment I completely misread everything lol I thought you lots were talking about interior customisation.
Damn shame there's no exterior customisation still. There's some good stuff out there and for a game that absolutely wants you to have a certain relation with your car... This isn't the right move imo.
After all, visual customisation has always been optional in modern racing games.
@@sckxxterIt needs it! It's boring to drive stock cars!
I’m hyped
Why TDU:SC doesn't have dust/particles while offroad? No proper optimizations for that?
little do you know, that some of these cars are from TDU2 as DLC's , but in TDUSC you can actually purchase them lol
Yeah, and you actually can purchase some of these dlc cars in tdu1😂
@@sanchygames7286 I didn't know that lol
@@CJLX805 There are not so many coincidences here) As far as I remember, of all the dlc2 tdu2 cars in tdu1 there were only f40 and 250 gto
@@sanchygames7286 but the Bugatti Veyron Super Sport is one of the DLC cars from TDU2, I remember lol
