I have the F170, it prints 8.5 and up to 47.24 long. I do buy the roll and cut it for the longer than standard paper. I don't know why Epson doesn't tell you how to print the longer paper, it just says you can print longer. I found a video on printing longer paper and they also sold the 8.5 roll paper. I ordered it and it prints very well. I just got the F570 after being satisfied with the F170 for over a year. You won't be disappointed in the F170. I wish I had the space to keep them both. good luck to all
Do you have a link to the 8.5 epson roll? I'm trying to find it. Thank you!
I’m looking to buy this printer
Thank you!
Incredible video @SilhouetteSchool ! So much information and money I could have SAVED had I heard this video before I bought my printer. I truly hope all newbies see this video. Thank you again for teaching us and caring Melissa. Jerri
thank you, this was a great video. helped me make an informed decision on purchasing my first sublimation printer.
This is by far the best video I have found so far on the subject of sublimation and white toner printers with pros and cons and pricing! Thank you so much! I recently got a sawgrass sg400 used for $180 and will be picking up my first white toner printer soon likely followed by the EPSON 570 for bigger sublimation jobs.
Glad it was helpful!
Thank you for this video, it really cleared up and answered alot of my basic questions and I appreciate the comments below they are just as informative!!!
EXCELLENT video...love it, but what i love the most NO FREAKING ANNOYING BACKGROUND MUSIC!!!!
Hah :)
OMG! I am so glad I found your UA-cam I need so much help because going into this business.
Amazing video, you are great! straight to the point and the information you provide is exactly what we need to know! thank you very much!
Priceless Information! Thank You!
Glad it was helpful!
I just got a used sawgrass sg1000 for 500 euros. Works like a charm
Very informative! Thank You.
You are welcome!
This is literally the best video on sublimation printers I have found. I've watched a ton of them. Thank you for this. I cannot imagine being able to spend $2600 on a printer, plus the heat press, mug/tumbler press and blanks. I bought an epson et 15000 and it didn't work at all straight out of the box. But I have tumbler blanks. If it can't print that then I'm out of options. I cannot afford $2600 for a printer. I feel so defeated.
This video was so informative.
Thank you!
thank u its usefull
Thank you for sharing❤❤❤
Thanks for watching!
Hi Melissa, I am wanting to start making cups (glass, tumblers, and plastic), napkins, hats, sweatshirts... I really want to do the plastic ones for weddings, party's, bachelorettes. What do I need to get started? I have watched tons of your videos. Thank you!
Love your videos! Do you have any recommendations for a true sub printer that will print 13x19? I need wider than 8.5" as larger shirts need bigger sizes but am having a hard time finding anything other than converting or spending thousands?? Am i out of luck??
If I buy and download the sublimation from etsy until I get a printer, will that still work?
Can a L3250 Epson printer be used for sublimation. That’s the one available in my country
Hi Melissa, would you tell me the difference between sublimation and DTF? Do you need both types of machines, so on and so forth. Thanks for your help!
Hey there! I have a comparison of the different kinds of printers here: www.silhouetteschoolblog.com/p/melissas-fleet-of-printers-for.html It really depends on what your goals are for which one is right for you.
I just bought my printer Epson - EcoTank ET-3850 All-in-One Supertank Inkjet and i was thinking of doing it sublimation ink but i wated to see if i can use regular paper or does it have to be sublimation paper?
20 oz skinny tumblers are about 8.2 x9.4 inches. 8.5x11 I believe will work. And there is a lot of 3rd party inks that offer color profiles. And when your talking about price I can get a good sublimation ink for $40 for 3 70oz bottles cmy and 1 136oz bottle of K with a color profile that works and works well and that's not $40 a bottle but $40 for 4 bottles. I have not seen any products made with Epson sublimation ink but some of those 3rd party inks really pop, but I remember the day with sawgrass married to Epson and the 4800 printer and what a mess that was. I'm talking head clog city. Those printers were high high dollar printers and who ever got one of those got ripped off bad. It's not that way now but if you price these printers and do the math you will see why most people go with the Epson's. This is just the other side of the story.
I have the sawgrass 1000
Hi Melissa, I just found your channel, and I found it very helpful, having said that, what printer would you recommend for t-shirts? Do you have a video for beginners? thx in advance!
Hi there and welcome. I would start here: www.silhouetteschoolblog.com/p/melissas-fleet-of-printers-for.html
Great video! Which heat press do you reccommend?
I have several! It really depends on what you need. Check out my heat press review pages here: www.silhouetteschoolblog.com/search/label/Heat%20Press%20Reviews
we do not have the sublimation printers by epson in our country- the e570 is almost R60 000 - that is not cost effect for any small business starting. I think I would need to buy a cheaper one and convert
Has anybody else heard that the F570 warranty ends at once you print 10,000 prints?
new to your channel liked the videos , can you used the hiipoo sublimation ink in the epson f170 or do you have to used the epson ink that comes with it
I would use the sublimation ink that comes with it. Using other ink will void the warranty and it's unnecessary as it comes with sub link
@@SilhouetteSchool thanks so much , keep the videos coming
Hi, i am thinking to buy Epson ECOTANK ET-15000 and convert it into the the sublimation printer by myself. I am from Europe and in my country the choice of sublimation ink is VERY poor. However, the store does sell the EPSON sublimation ink for models Epson SureColor SC-F100, SC-F500 (which are sublimation printers). So my question is, can i use the original EPSON sublimation ink for the converted ET-15000? Thank you for the info, great video!
Hello there, unfortunately I really don't recommend conversions because the print heads for an ink jet are not made for sublimation ink and can cause damage.
Melissa…my question is…I want a sub printer but won’t use it daily and at times not even weekly so it will sit. Given that I will have spurts if time when I use it and then other periods of time that I won’t, which printer would be best?
The Epson F570 and the Sawgrass all perform their own maintenance. My experience has been that the F570 doesn't require near the head cleanings shrsl.com/3uleo
I have had my F170 sit for months, in the past 1 1/2 yrs. I do keep it off during that time but I've not ever had it clog or jam. I still have my first maintenance box in
hey I have a problem with my cameo 4 blade. I was wondering if you could help me fix this? Because I'm still trying to learn the silhouette studio
Hi @CreativePeacefulvibes, it would be easier to provide you the help you are requesting if you could please send an email with some additional information. Please provide as much info (including cut settings / exact material / screen grabs) as possible when emailing. My email can be found through the contact page on Silhouette School Blog www.silhouetteschoolblog.com/p/blog-page_9.html
Thank you, very instructive video. Just a simple question please, the sawgrass printer in itself is a very expensive one, why are their inks expensive too. It should be one or the other.
I mean you can’t even sublimate on cotton. Cotton is international. Where do people get half cotton half polyester shirts please?
Hi there! Check out this blog post with options! www.silhouetteschoolblog.com/2019/08/10-non-cricut-infusible-ink-blanks-you.html
Help. Im using the f100. And a reg mug press ( not a cricut style press). I have tried multiple temps and times, using med pressure and my black ink prints brown on ceramic coffee mugs. It prints fine on tumblers. Can you help!!! Thanks
Hi, If your blacks look brown it means you are burning it so either less time or lower temp or a combination of both
Can I use epson 170 for long socks sublimation? I’m just starting and Tight on budget. Thanks
Yes, but you will want to make sure you use sublimation paper that's long enough and adjust the size of the page to reflect that.
Melissa have you tried printing on the Easy Subli with the Epson 570? If so, did you have any issues?
EasySubli won't feed through the Epson F570 or F170..you would need to print on sublimation transfer paper then sublimate that onto the EasySubli. I have a tutorial here www.silhouetteschoolblog.com/2022/06/how-to-use-siser-easysubli-with-epson.html
@@SilhouetteSchool thank you for your reply. I've done what you're describing but was hoping you could print directly on it like you supposedly can with the Sawgrass printers. Ty
@@brendafogerty1685 Easi Subli is made for the Sawgrass. That being said I know some have been able to print on F170 and others not. the first time I printed, I got black streaks, I was able to still use design since it was for my sweats and you barely see it. Then the last time I changed my settings, instead of choosing textile for fabric, I let the settings at standard, not on high quality and I can't remember if I chose textile or rigid but it printed out great, no streaks. One lays different amounts of ink down. It pressed and did great. I'm going to try the F570 next. I love the videos from Silhouette and I watch them all so I'm not slamming them. I just know that I've seen some videos where it worked and others where it didn't.
@@judyromano5088 what software do you use for your 170?
I tried easy subli on my F170 and wasted 5 sheets before watching another blogger state that easy subli is specific for sawgrass printers. My prints were distorted and even 2 days later wet. It boggles my brain because it's a sublimation printer with sublimation ink. But anyway that's my experience. 30.00 lost.
I'm confused should I get the Epson 2800 or 4850 I've watched so many videos I'm confused im waiting to try and start making sublimation tumblers
Hey there! Check out this blog post: www.silhouetteschoolblog.com/2022/02/epson-sublimation-printers-comparison.html
Can you please confirm what size paper the F170 prints? You mention in the comparison (about 3:55 ish in) that the F170 only prints 8.5 x 11, but the Epson F170 FAQ says it prints A4, Letter, and Legal. Really hoping the F170 also prints the larger size paper since mine is already on its way. Thanks for all you do ... always so helpful!
Hi I have the f170 it takes 8.5x11 and 8.5x14 I am actually going to buy the f570 because I need bigger prints. But I love love love the f170 perfect for smaller projects
You would have to buy it on the roll and cut it but you can go as long as 47.24 and only 8.5 wide. Which is listed on Epsons website. They don't show how but I found a video how for most all printers and they sell the roll for a little over 20. Fast service. Honestly spinking is the video
If you have the money get a epson surecolor F570 best investment
are there other white toner printers that are less expensive?
I don't know of any that would do all the same things at a lower price. There are, however, other white toner printers on the market but they are either more expensive or they are less expensive with fewer features (like the inability to do both over and under print)
So are you saying none of your printers will print onto black cotton tshirts? Have you tried siser easysubli ink in the Epson printers? I hear that ink works on dark cottons.
You can not sublimate onto dark or cotton shirts. EasySubli is basically HTV that you can use sublimation ink on but it needs to be print and cut, it's not true sublimation directly onto the garment.
How do you go around printing designs with white?
A sublimation printer cannot print the white so it will leave that space blank. You can use a white shirt to be able to see white where it is on the design.
Thank you for taking the time to reply
Good Morning. I am interested in selling Tee shirts and cups and anything I can with pictures I take of Northern Nevada as well as the many animals I have on my farm. After watching your video I am leaning in the direction of the Epson F570 pro. Will the smaller one do all the things I want to do or would you recommend the larger one?
Hey there! The F570 definitely has it's conveniences! I think if you will need a higher production level and bigger prints, then the larger printer is worth it. Check out the sublimation corner on the blog to see what fits your needs! www.silhouetteschoolblog.com/p/everything-to-know-about-sublimation_9.html
Good afternoon, please tell me what is the result of a pale drawing
I'm sorry I do not understand the question
The graphic on the T-shirt is very pale@@SilhouetteSchool
I use my Cricut to make my projects can I print to the Eason 170 with this?
If you can print to a printer directly from Cricut Design Space then yes
@@SilhouetteSchool can this be set up to Cricut?
What is a good printer for 3d tumblers sublimation only purpose please help
3d tumblers would work on all sublimation printers. I have a starter list here: www.silhouetteschoolblog.com/p/sublimation-supplies-for-beginners.html
@@SilhouetteSchool something affordable and only for that purpose if there’s option
Hi, should I buy a sublimation printer if I want to print with edible ink and on edible paper? Please give me a recomandation
No, I would not recommend a sublimation printer for what you are trying to do
@@SilhouetteSchool could you recommend a printer for edible printing for cakes? I have been looking on the Epson ecotank
I'm sorry I'm not very well versed in that area and could not make a recommendation.
If I have already put regular ink in printer is it still possible to convert to eco tank sublimation printer? Anyone? Thanks.
No you can not
Can the Epson F170 take third party ink?
There's no need to put 3P ink in the F170 - the Epson sublimation ink is not only inexpensive, it's very good (and it won't void your warranty)
Yes it can
The Epson570 is discontinued.
so... no go with black or dark shirts with sublimation printing? Bummer
That is correct. You can not sublimate directly onto darks or cotton
@@SilhouetteSchool Bummer - so besides silk screening, the only option are heat transfers for dark/cotton material? Thanks
A lot of wonderful information which I thank you a lot! But please, do not shout so much, it is hard to listen :)

I have an sc 170 for craft and et2803 for home office. Please tell me what stand you have your printers on. I need it. 😊thanks
