Here's a video of the best woods to use at Home Depot ua-cam.com/video/O1KBUrRmm1U/v-deo.html
"It's like trying to use a Highpoint instead of a Glock"... lol. Awesome description!
😂😂 It's the best I could come up with
I strongly disagree. I have 2 Glocks and 2 Highpoint carbines. Both get the job done.
You’re not wrong. Although I moved to an H&K years ago. 😬
That is so cool you use highpoint and a glock. Hearing guns comparison in a wood video is music to my ears.
😂😂 The only thing I use a highpoint for is a paperweight
Great info! Thanks!
Thanks, buddy!
Good points to know! Thanks for another fun field trip!!!
Our pleasure, Lori!
This is a great video!!
Thanks buddy!
Well received information and personal suggestions !!! Thanks again guys !
Thanks Gary!
Another great video, guys!
Thanks, Frank!
Great video and I agree with all.
Thanks Don!
Two woods I like are cedar, of course, and red woood. I'll stand there for an hour picking through the boards looking for the best one!
Same here, buddy!
Thanks for the tips.
You go it, Len!
Excellent video. I learned my lesson on the fir. Works well in the fireplace.
😂😂😂Yes it does!
The orange and blue box are great places to start, just to get different sizes of wood but I would encourage all new carvers to quickly investigate local lumber yards or mills. All of my suppliers are 1-2 hours away but so worth the trip. Once you try cedar, basswood, etc, you’ll never go back to just regular pine. Its such a better and more enjoyable carve.
I agree! Especially where you guys are at you have some beautiful stuff to choose from.
Great info, I’m only been caving for just over a month. I’ve have used common pine scraps for practice and picked up 2 treated fence pickets to see how they would carve. Think I will follow your lead. Thanks for all the tips!
Our pleasure, Tom!
Nice job EZ E...🤘🤘🤘
Thanks, DanO!
Hello my friend...thos is good
Thanks, buddy!!
Thank you guys! Great info…So what woods do you prefer to make signs? Also what wood do y’all prefer to use for outdoor signs? Thanks
No problem, Juan! Here's a video on what we do use from Home Depot ua-cam.com/video/O1KBUrRmm1U/v-deo.html
Thank you!
Really appreciate the video! I am new to this, and trying to figure out which wood 4x8 sheets would be best to buy to cut wood rounds out of for circular signs from a large store like home Depot or Lowe's. I am planning to use 4 by 8 sheets and want to know which would be the best wood for cutting with a router, wood rounds with about an 18in diameter. These will be outside, stained and varnished. Hoping you can help me. Thank you in advance
Well, it just kind of depends.
1, if you're going to carve a sign and do any sanding at all, you have to make sure the top veneer of the wood is thick enough. About 1/8"
2, you want to have as little gaps in each ply as possible
3, you want to pick a piece with the nicest looking top veneer
I;d go with something at least 3/4" thick, unless you're putting a backer on it.
Hope this helps
@@oldave100 yes, it does, thank you!
Do a list of best sign carving woods from HD.
Way ahead of you buddy! ua-cam.com/video/O1KBUrRmm1U/v-deo.html
Very helpful thank you
What about butcherblock wood or even cuttingboards?
Thanks
Thanks, Benjamin! Butcher bloc and cutting boards look great carved. However, they can be really difficult because there's multiple types of wood with different grains and densities. So keeping a straight line is a challenge.
@@oldave100 thank you for the information 👍
I'm about to start my own channel under a business name, I will subscribe with that account too. Your camera quality seems to have improved over the last month or so. I had to get a few 10' 1x6 and 1x8 while at HD last week. I had to go through the entire selection just for two boards from each. That stuff is awful I agree. Good video guys! Lets Gooo 50k!
Thanks, Jeffrey! We really appreciate all the support, man👍👍
OK so you've told us the ones to stay away from if you had your choice what is your top wood to use?????
Here you go Charlie. ua-cam.com/video/O1KBUrRmm1U/v-deo.html
: All ofum
😂😂 They have some really good stuff for carving.
What's good stuff for carving, the hardwood section? You basically said avoid all the main stuff they sell lol.
I went to a local lumber yard for the first time recently, it was about 35% cheaper than HD prices so im trying to spread the good word 😂 That was hardwood prices anyway, didnt look at construction lumber
Home Depot doesn't have a large hardwood selection, but we really like Walnut, Maple, Mohagony, and a bunch of others. Here's a video we did of the woods we really like at Home Depot ua-cam.com/video/O1KBUrRmm1U/v-deo.html
@@oldave100 They sure dont. Seems like the selections been getting smaller too. All I see now is poplar, oak and maple.
Yes sir, it's definitely getting smaller
How dare you compare high points to a warped, knotty piece of wood....a 2x4 is a much more reliable form of self defense then a high point.
😂😂😂 I'd have to agree with that!!!
When all gell breaks loose, my Highpoint firearms are locked and loaded.
To each their own, buddy. Gun guys are just like car guys. They all have their favorite and talk crap about the rest😂😂
Using a Glock is not a great idea, either.
😂😂 you must be a Sig guy...
@@oldave100 😂
Thanks to Biden/Kamala's inflation I can't afford to shop at any of the big box stores.
😂😂😂
