New Expressway Linking AP and Karnataka Capitals
Expressways are super important in modern transportation. They connect different places and make it quicker to travel between them. This helps businesses grow and makes it easier to move stuff around. National Highways Authority of India has undertaken a lot of road projects under the Bharatmala Pariyojana. One of the newest project is the Bangalore- Kadapa- Vijayawada Expressway.
Usually, the present two alternative roads between Bangalore and Vijayawada are definitely the busiest highways. While the first road connects Madanapalle- Tirupati & Nellore to Bangalore, the second route passes through Anantapur & Kurnool. Even having two possible ways to reach Vijayawada from Bangalore, both the roads are having traffic congestion.
Earlier, whenever the people of south Karnataka wanted to travel to north eastern stations, they used to reach either Hyderabad or Chennai and from there connect to the related highways. But now, with this upcoming expressway, they can directly connect to the Chennai- Kolkata Highway at the Kadikonda Checkpost.
This new highway stretches for 518 kilometres, is a combination of both Greenfield and Brownfield. It will be 64% Greenfield, which means new roads will be laid, and 36% Brownfield indicating the expansion of the existing roads. With this, distance and the travel time between the capital cities of both states gets reduced to half.
Out of the 518 km, MEIL is executing around 150 km, including the stretches - Nallacheruvu Palli to Yerragudipadu, Yerragudipadu to Adireddi Palli, Mallepalle to Kavulakunta, Narayanampet to Chandrashekharapurama, Chandrasekharapuram to Polavaram, Polavaram to Marripudi and Somavarappadu to Muppavaram.
Once this expressway is ready, the travel time between Bangalore and Vijayawada will reduce by half. This expressway is set to give Andhra Pradesh and Karnataka a socio-economic boost.
Megha Engineering & Infrastructures Limited (MEIL) is a major infrastructure company headquartered in Hyderabad, India. The company was established in 1989 as a small fabrication unit. In due course of time, the unit made a name for itself. We are fired by the zeal to equip the country with an engineering and infrastructure foundation that can hold up its pillars for generations to come.
