Older truckers, remember delivering the steel for “something called a theme park” ,and they just were super awed by it

My mom and I were born and raised here in Orange County mere minutes from Disneyland. My dad and paternal and maternal grandparents were born elsewhere. My mom and I are true SoCal girls through and through, but she prefers the beach. I don’t think I could ever move away. This place is the best.

That's how I feel about Northern California! Born and raised in the Bay Area, and I wouldn't trade it for the world! Sure, there are lots of serious problems in California, but Northern California will ALWAYS be home ❤.

I'm like you, born and raised here, made my career here (engineering) Retired and NO plans to move to Phoenix or Texas or any other of those places where people rant and rave how much house their money can buy. What people seldom talk about is there is REASON it's expensive here! Perfect weather for one and O.C, (fingers crossed) is fighting the L.A "creep" of crime and homelessness. We have a great D. A and strong support for our law enforcement. John Wayne is the BEST airport in the country. OCSD is the BEST sheriff dept in the state!

The beauty , elegance and history shared is amazing and definitely would have been lost to us now without restoration and historicl documentation as you have shared with us through this presentation . Thank you so very much for your effort and sharing with us who appreciate it.

I am a producer and the script supervisor on a documentary that recently aired on a well-known US television channel, among other documentaries I have worked on. If I could offer some constructive criticism, it is that the script is a bit too formal and leans toward the sensational instead of an unbiased approach. The emphasis of the script on-screen (so far, mostly noticed during the Getty portion) does not add anything. If you were presenting information that was important for the viewer to know that isn't otherwise referenced in the script, it would make sense. I understand the difficulties of writing a compelling and dynamic script when you are presenting facts that are "dry" on their own, but sometimes you have to pull back on the adjectives and adverbs and tell the facts more plainly. It also helps to show rather than tell. I also understand the expense involved with obtaining the rights to historical footage and images, and sometimes you have no choice but to use stock footage or something that doesn't precisely illustrate the narrator's voiceover. There is also nothing wrong with paring down a documentary to its key elements and leaving out filler. I hope someone may find this helpful.

My family owned a lot of property in Huntington Beach, Seal Beach and Signal hill. My great grandfather, grandfather had an oil company and they sold their property by the sq ft because of oil extraction. The last of our properties that were around in the early 2000’s the city of long beach tore my papa’s house a cute double craftsman was demolished and now there’s a Best Buy on top of the property. Sad.

It is sad that the Fairbanks home was raised to the ground and other old mansions of importance, In my country the UK, are protected ,old buildings/historical or buildings of cultural importance, are on list called the Heritage Register, this protects them they are graded, you have to get permission to make any changes large or small.
Grade I: buildings of exceptional interest.
Grade II*: particularly important buildings of more than special interest.
Grade II: buildings that are of special interest.
The buildings show in this video would have been protected.

I'm pretty sure that Walt Disney is rolling in his grave. His family has killed his baby. They are in a downward spiral that I'm not too sure they can recover from. It's sad.

Old Money is a term for people who inherit their fortune. New Money is for people that make their own fortune. Disney made the fortune in LA on movies and Disneyland. Getty made his in oil, and just like LA. Hearst inherited his dads mining fortune but invested it into papers making it grow far faster than his dads mines did. Reagan made his money in Hollywood.

The opening narration is verbose and the words used seemed unnecessarily extravagant. I almost stopped watching, thinking that over an hour of this type of talk would drive me insane. I’m glad I didn’t. The narrator quickly changed pace and the subject matter is fascinating. I hope you don’t take offence by my criticism. This is a well put together history of a fascinating part of the SOCAL story. Thank you!!

Me thinks you got your history of California from a non-native perspective. you may want to dig a little deeper into the Ranchos of California, the Treaty of Guadalupe Hidalgo, and Pio Pico. The real history will blow your socks off and maybe give you enough insight to hang your hat on and discover the Truth which will set you free and give you riches beyond the Disney and Getty mirage.

If you're referring to Hispanic background just know they basically sat on the state and did little to nothing with it for decades. It wasn't until the families mentioned got involved did the state start to blossom.

Unfortunately you are speaking about the new generation and the new money . My family have been in California Since 17 79 , and had a great deal of property , and my family were sent back to France or Spain to be educated and unfortunately ,The new Americans came after 1849, the gold rush we lost most of are lands . We consider ourselves upper class some us have money some us don’t but we are dead smart , and never talk about it ,
