I really enjoy how Tyler took a song that I always assumed was about an ex-boyfriend, and changed it into being about his father. Which is much more meaningful to me.
TheMusicMOA I think the prevailing theory is that it's actually a message to his best friend's father. He had a friend in high school that died in a car accident and it almost lead him to deviate away from making music.
I believe that the original version of the song was written to family rather than an ex.

I was listening to this on my couch, mourning the loss of my mother. I do not believe in spirits or ghosts; but UA-cam froze right before the chorus. I stopped crying for a moment to see if my internet was out. I even said "of all the times for that to happen." Right when I said that, it unfroze to the chorus; "hello from the other side." It was a special moment to feel (if even false) that connection to my mother. I cannot hear Tyler sing without crying anymore. It's definitely odd.

I know this would make me sound like an asshole and all but I hope that Tyler's career as a solo artist would not reach great heights. If it would, then that could be the end of ISSUES and history would then repeat itself. Tyler is a very talented person, and finding his replacement would be very hard.
