Well done Bob. It is troubling to see the remnants of Minister of Fisheries acting without understanding the whole picture. Thank you for the context. I love the careful treatment of a difficult subject, delivered in a thoughtful, soothing style of our own Jacques Cousteau.
Noel Murphy Thank you Bob for a wonderful presentation of a difficult subject. This fishery is disgustingly wasteful and in severe contrast to common sense.Sadly another example of human greed.
My dog Zora and I were right there camping on the Denman sand spit during our bike tour in 2019. It's perhaps the most memorable place I've ever been and it breaks my heart seeing that happen there. It's so good to know that there are people like you looking out for these places, now off to sign the petition.
A wonderful and moving doc... sad, though, watching those silver fish being dragged out of the ocean in numbers that are beyond belief for those of us not involved in industrial fishing. It seems we haven't really learned all that much about caring for the systems that sustain us all. Those gulls sitting on the beach, seemingly watching the wall of gillnetters just offshore, seemed to completely understand what was really going on.
Wonderfully done, with sensitivity and grace, but was still so difficult to watch. I can't believe these fisheries still exist. How can this happen during spawning season? I will sign and pass on the petition to all I can.
I wish I were as optomistic. It is predicted that there will be no viable fisheries on the planet by 2050 and our little Herring fishery is the canary in the coal mine. We are watching the collapse of an eco system.
get a court injunction and stop this. the industrial fishery is killing all the eco system from the fraser to alaska, D.F.O, out to lunch, awesome video

I wish I had the same faith that common sense will win out in the end. History suggests not. Thank you for a thought provoking film.
What a sad destruction of our natural rhythms in nature.
Wow! so glad I found this channel, I never knew there was so much wildlife in our local waters. Bob is like BC's David Attenborough! amazing stuff!!
i live in the area. the 2021 herring run looked amazing from the shore. i learned a lot from your video. thanks
