DIMASH! 😍 Gah! I'm smitten by this young man's voice. Thank you for watching and commenting. I love hearing from you from all over the world. Dimash is so blessed to have such kind, thoughtful and intelligent fans as his "Dears". 💖
The glottal singing after the soprano part is a traditional singing style from the region he is from being Kazakhstan. Dimash likes to mix local traditional sounds - not just singing - into his music.
When it comes to suggestions, I'm really partial to "Autumn Strong" from the Singer 2017 competition. For Dimash's standard it is quite demure with only little vocal gymnastics, but it is amazing in his capacity to project emotions.
On the other end of the scale is Diva Dance which shoots up and down his vocal range.
I couldn't have said it any better.
I will say it here Dimash has the potential to take music, in a good way, to a whole new level like the music greats of the last two hundred plus years! I studied voice with one of the greatest voice teachers of the 20th century.
As a musician (guitar/piano), I'm in awe of his many talents: songwriter, composer, arranger, rapper, multi instrumentalist (10), poet, (as a teen would compose music to great Kazakh poets & writers), self-driven/serious about music since 5, (would cry if they took his little cassette player/tapes away-he HAD to hear music to go to sleep), very self-driven w/perfect pitch (& gets all the little nuances of songs), children's advocate, Kazakh Youth Embassador & Cultural Embassador to China, his originals are amazing, etc!😊

Russia ignores him Dimash got Grand Prize In 2015 Slavic Bazar and he perform on the same stage with Russian singers and he never was invited perform in Russia because most of them lips singing.Thanks to Maestro Igor Krutoy who invited him to Sochi. Dimash loved by millions around the world. I think everyone deserves to listen him once in the life.He is outstanding singer and artist The best in the world

Thank you. Dimash refers to his style of singing a «neo-classicism». which combines several genres of music into his songs. Dimash talked about injecting the folk and classics styles into modern music, (2 interviews, September and January 2018). He referred to it as being, perhaps innovative and maybe the audience wants this type of songs. He is a marvelous and talented young man. DKIFC/Canada.

There's good and great singer's and then there's exceptional and extraordinary. No man sings and does what he does. He has a mastery of air movement and vocal chord control. Think of floating on a cloud when he does those breathy soft almost crying parts. When he goes into soprano I feel like were suddenly transported to camel's roaming through the Gobi desert and it finishes with his voice flutter which is the discovery of the journey he just took us on. Again this reaction was a joy to watch.

This is the festival "New Wave" in Sochi (Russia). There was a competition of young performers and concerts of Russian artists. Dimash acted as a guest at the jubilee concert of the Kazakh group "A-studio".
Baigali Serkebaev - the author of the song - plays the piano here.
It was a phenomenal performance! Superb low notes at the beginning, unreal high notes at the end. And again the oriental tones in the song!

Dimash used kazakh singing technique. Saha people ( Russia) uses this technique too.

Did you notice 22 second belted run near the end? While most people focus on Dimash's incredible range and his complete comfort level in each range, I think there are three often overlooked aspects of what sets him apart. First, the can seamlessly transition between each of his ranges, up or down it doesn't matter. Second, in each of his ranges he has the ability to change the texture or flavor of a sound at both loud and soft volumes. And lastly, Dimash puts so much emotion or "acting" into each of his songs. Even if the video has no subtitles, the viewer still can understand the basic emotions within each song. It is this emotional experience which draws in the audience and makes a Dimash someone that is truly shared between performance and audience and performer.

Thank you for recognizing my favoirite artist. Yes it is so exiting to be part of the beginning of a fabulous route. I was Dimashified in the fall of 2017. I have been able to se him live in London nov 2018 and recently in Moscow 2019. He is born to be on the stage performing. Please go and see hin in USA when he will perform. He will sing at Igor Krutoys concert in New York coming october and hopefully there will also be a soloconcert. Dimash has a sweet gentle and very humble personality too. Simplemente sublime, the Best singer the planet
He also has that forward, buzzy tone. That masked voice that he uses when he starts belting up high. Plus he also has that very deep chesty opera, baritone-ish voice or whatever range that he uses With all the vibrato. It's that dark and heavy voice, you know what I mean. The dude uses all his vocal colours in every song. And there is the fact that he did this very long run after that a crazy high note toward the end. I think they say it was about 25 seconds in total without stopping to breathe. Incredible.

Thank you for your reaction. Dimash has raised the bar in vocals but also the aura he has of being positive, humble, grateful, respectful. Consider this versus the many commercial simple fly by night songs and arrogant personalities out there. This is why his Dears (us Dears) are undyingly loyal and devoted.

One thing I noticed is that I finally realized that after he does that middle eastern sounding thing and then those notes where he shouts out those for notes before he slides way up high. That last note that he slides up to the top. . .and then he does the run down the other side. . . That's ALL ONE BREATH. Listen again, he doesn't take a breath. I can't believe it.

Only recently, I fell into the Dimash rabbit hole. I knew his name last year, read that he was similar to Vitas, whom I heard a decade ago, wasn't driven to listen to his actual singing.
Then, just a few weeks ago, when his cover of the French song 'SOS' popped up on my UA-cam recommendations, I clicked.
It was like a drop-kick to my gut. I had to find and listen to everything from Dimash.
Here's a fun little exercise: listen to Gregory LeMarchal's cover of 'SOS.' That's the gold standard for how 'SOS' is supposed to be sung. LeMarchal has harvested years of praise and adulation for that song.
Then listen to Dimash pull that paradigm up by the roots and set it on fire.
I'm no expert in singing, so I wanted to understand more about what he is doing, listen to expert people remarking on it. That's why I came here, and also visited the channels of other voice coaches to hear their reactions. I enjoyed your reaction to 'Sinful Passion' very much.
The unusual run towards the end of this song is a technique associated with areas of the world with a strong Muslim influence (including Kazakhstan). It's said to be quite difficult to master, and if it has ever been used before in a French song, I don't know about it. One of the things I love about Dimash is his use of extremely varied vocal techniques to tell a song's story.
He also establishes dramatic tension in many of his songs and lets it build until you just know you're about to hear the musical equivalent of fireworks, explosions and shattering glass. Then he delivers. It's wonderful, really.

Yes, Dimash will visit New York twice this year: in October he will perform at Igor Krutoy’s concert, and in December with his big solo concert.

This song is very similar to SOS in that it shows Dimash's extraordinary range and variety.I love your reactions to his performances and absolutely agree that he is an innovator and a change maker. The first gentleman standing at the end of the song, is Igor Krutoy, giving Dimash the standing ovation!! Imagine the pressure Dimash had of having Mr. Krutoy in the audience. That's the first time most of us, < Dear>, got to see Igor. Soon after, He and Dimash gave us " The Love Of Tired Swans " ,"Mademoiselle Hyde" and " Love is like a dream " and the latest "Ogni Pietra".
He was mind blowing in 2017... and he's only gotten better...its amazing.

Dimash has so many things going for him. He's intelligent, kind, confident and humble at once. He was blessed by circumstance (having come from a highly musical family that encouraged his musicality - he went to the best schools, etc). On the other hand, he took full advantage of all of this, and I have no doubt that his work ethic has made him into a once in a generation phenomenon. You aren't just born knowing how to sing classical, opera, pop, rock, folk or sing in at least 8 languages or become an expert in just as many instruments. Oh yeah and also martial arts and swimming on the side. This is someone who is laser-focused in such a way most of us will never be. I'm glad to witness it. Such skill gives me hope of what a human can truly be if they make the most of their opportunities, passions and work ethic.
And on top of all that, he graduated from the Kazakhstan University of Arts with a masters degree. He will go on with the aim of becoming a doctor of arts.

I agree “yummy” is a good word. He actually came in 2nd in The Singer. He did win several performances on the Singer. He is scheduled to be st Maestro Krutoy’s concert in October in NYC. Should be amazing there is quite a line up of singers to be there. They are talking of a solo concert at Madison square garden around the same time. Christi, Christi, Christi!! Every thought you voiced here is exactly what has been blowing my mind for the past six months. Yes, truly, he is shattering all kinds of barriers and pre-conceived notions, and doing so in the most enjoyable way, right?!? It's so much fun to also know that he is absolutely his own man -- he is determined, knows what he wants, and quietly, nicely, makes it happen. (He has shown, publicly, firmly, kindly, that he won't be manipulated.) If you want something new to watch for fun, go check out a new video of his own song, "Give Me Your Love Tonight." He is learning dance in the last two years, and it's remarkable for as tall a guy -- with long feet -- as he is! If you're looking for another song to react to, try "Love is Like a Dream" also a rather new release. It's just as spectacular as "Sinful Passion". (Both of those are on his channel, but also the fancam videos from the Dimash48 channel are superlative!) Remember, we are waiting to hear about a solo concert in NYC in October, possibly close (in date) to the Igor Krutoy 60th B-day Celebration concert at which Dimash and many other singers will perform on Oct 26. If you follow Dimash on IG, he's sure to announce it; and I've no doubt tickets will sell out quickly if it's a smaller venue, so be ready! :-) Finally, thank you for the life coaching and for sharing your wisdom! The first gentleman standing at the end of the song, is Igor Krutoy, giving Dimash the standing ovation!! Imagine the pressure Dimash had of having Mr. Krutoy in the audience. That's the first time most of us, < Dear>, got to see Igor. Soon after, He and Dimash gave us " The Love Of Tired Swans " ,"Mademoiselle Hyde" and " Love is like a dream " and the latest "Ogni Pietra".

Yummy definitely describes it. Dimash has totally changed my concept of what is possible with vocals. He has reignited my passion for music and given me an appreciation for other languages. Dimash is the gift that just keeps giving. Love him so much.
