    Leave it to Rick to layout the real truth behind the cowbell's value in music and also to make a highly entertaining and informative video about this instrument, as well. Thanks, Rick!

    Thank you for this learning session.
    I'm not a musician, yet I'm so amazed at how different type of cowbells got incorporated into modern music popularity.
    The sound of each variety introduced here is well beyond the "cuteness" to my ears. 🙂

    I think every drummer in the 1970s and '80s ended up with one of those LP cha cha bells... the one with the round sticker on it. Love the sound of those older LP agogo bells. Thanks for running through your massive collection.

    Thank you so much! What an informative video. I've been playing congas lately and have also been getting into Washington D.C. go-go music. I really wanted to incorporate a cowbell into my conga playing, but didn't quite know how to do it without sticks. Thanks for turning me on to the device that will allow me to hit a cowbell with my hands. I'm really grateful for your video.

    Hi Rick! First of all... thank you for all your videos about snare drum and orchestral stuff... very interesting. One question about cowbells... do you have any experience about tuning a cowbell (tuned cowbell) an half-step higher or lower? Thank you for every precious information. Cristiano

    I wonder, who these two who downvoted this awesome and detailed explanation video? For what reason, on Earth? Why don't just skip it if that is out of interest?

    Nice vid, thanks. You might want to check out Uli percussion bells, they’re really great. Ulisis Santiago makes them by hand in Wisconsin. Very much in the JCR style.

      I'm in the process of buying 2 jcr campanas, like $700. Since they are obsolete they went up in price like triple. I cannot record with an lp for latin music, the steel quality is just not as glassy. But I never heard of the brand you mentioned. Thanks!

    Oh, and a question. What is the design purpose of that LP RidgeRider? Just to save sticks?

    • @rickdior
      @rickdior  4 роки тому +2

      Hi
      I am not sure of its original purpose but for me it saves sticks, protects the bell and muffles the bell at the same time. It also enable me to use it as a pedal bell with a hard beater.
