Ohio Turnpike begins new toll collection system

After five years in the making, the Ohio Turnpike officially launched its new toll collection system as of 2 a.m. Wednesday.
“The modernization of the toll collection system has been a long, challenging, and complex project. But the moment we have anticipated -- following meticulous testing of the electronic tolling system over the past several months -- has arrived,” according to Ferzan M. Ahmed, P.E., executive director of the Ohio Turnpike Infrastructure Commission.
So what’s different?
“To accommodate all travelers on the 241-mile Ohio Turnpike -- designated as Interstate 80, I-90, and I-76 -- the new toll collection system will feature a combination of open road tolling lanes for E-ZPass customers and a gated exit system for non-E-ZPass customers who prefer to pay by cash or credit card,” according to the Turnpike’s site.

I went there today. New to the system. All signs said ez pass. I didn't see a lane for me. I tried stopping to get a ticket, only to turn and see a sign. It said no tickets here. Then I looked forward and another sign said do not stop. Here I am stuck, I rang the bell just before I saw that sign. It was supposed to be about a two$ toll. When I got to the exit they made me pay almost $20! What a deceptive way to go. Stop, don't stop. Go! OMG why don't u just send a bill to my address rather than cheating me. I'm a widow trying to go to the Drs. Grrr!

I only use the pike once a year for the airport so I'm just getting a ticket.
