Honestly it’s impossible to comprehend how crazy this record is. Anything above 150mph begins to feel really quick and in most vehicles you can feel it moving around. I wouldn’t have the balls to even attempt to get close to this, even with the cars of today which are far superior.
I can understand it lol... in hindsight, speeds like that were only really mastered (like, without risking your life) in the Veyron years later. Of course today hypercars beat that on a regular basis and 200mph+ does not sound so dramatic and your average BMW or Merc limousine does 150mph planted and safely. In my only 15 year old CLK anything beyond 130mph felt rather dangerous and you probably needed a new set of brake disks (and pants) after an emergency situation. I remember when people laughed about Volkswagen making such a big fuzz about the engineering that went into the Veyron and how a set of tires costs 20 grand (heck, even a set for the Nissan GTR would have set you back like 4 grand in 2008), but look at the tires here man... maybe it wasn't just for show. Speeds well above 250mph were doable, but just reaching the limits of "regular" fast car components and you basically had to invent new components if you intended to push it. This looked like seconds from disaster haha

Theoretically you could drive quicker with a modern car and modern tyres however you wouldn’t want to up there. Most people bottle it when you get close to 150mph. Some people can’t even get up into Lane 5
Haha no. The F1 GTR, F1 GT, and F1 LM are all worth 20 million +. However, perfect condition road cars can still be worth 15 million +. For example, there is a literally BRAND new Dandelion Yellow F1 in France which still has the packaging on the seats! That car is for sure worth 15 million + considering that it has never been driven.
I drive around here everyday at speed and I wouldn’t dare to attempt this even with today’s modern tyre technology. You can’t tell from the camera but vehicles move around a lot at speed due to the changing of wind direction and the bumps in the surface. This is probably the craziest thing I’ve ever known anyone to do here. Hats off as this record still stands even today.
