Never thought it would blow up like this and just to point out while the Before the Dark Times is a great vid they definitely took my idea and ran with it lol also as far as the title goes it actually was originally titled Luke Skywalker Meets Obi Wan for the first time (with flashbacks) but my friend told me I needed a shorter more rememberable title so I changed it to Obi Wan has ptsd so more people could find it and apparently it worked lol can’t wait for the Kenobi series he’s one of my all time favorite characters! Also just so it’s known I make absolutely no money off the video because I used a copyrighted song from the movie Fury but knowing that so many people have seen something I created and love it is totally worth it! Got a podcast in the works so hope people like it when it comes out! Once again thanks for the love man you’ve earned a subscriber!

In Legends, Obi-Wan found out that Darth Vader lived about three or so years into his protection of Luke. Not just the fact that Vader lived, but what Obi-Wan knew he was doing, sent Obi-Wan into a panic-attack that required aid to help him out of. He also believed, up until Anakin's redemption, that Vader could not be redeemed. Luke's help in allowing his father to redeem himself, also lifted a weight off of Obi-Wan's spiritual chest. And, him, Yoda, and Anakin's afterlife was pretty great. Only downside was that Anakin never got that love from Leia. He only met her once as a spirit. He tried to get her to at least understand that Anakin is not Vader. She basically told him to get lost, and that she could have forgiven him for what he did to Alderaan, and for his torture of her. But, she could not forgive him for torturing Han. And, she never saw him again. She only forgave Anakin years later after she saw his old home on Tatooine and learned all about his life from Luke. She separated Anakin, the Slave Boy from Tatooine, the Padawan, the Knight, and the War Hero, and Vader, the Traitor, the Sith Lord, the Destroyer. I think she kind of felt regret for that, but hey . . . she got to meet him eventually. Also, if you read the Legends novels and stuff there is one thing that must be remembered . . . the Solo family doesn't have a good time. Worse than Canon I'd say.
Yeah, being of the Solo Line in Legends may as well have been a death sentence, that family knows only tragedy. However, I guess that may be a trait that Leia somehow got and passed into her lineage from Anakin.

I dont understand why everyone says obi wan lied. He didnt lie, when a human goes through such painful circumstances they undergo trauma. That trauma can cause all sorts of weird things to happen. I personally believe this trauma forced obi wan to literally split and possibly change his memories of anakin a little. The thought vader is anakin was too much for him to bear so he told it how it was with a few omissions from his point of view. (Remember the prequels are all about points of view: 'anakin the sith are evil!' "well from my point of view the jedi are evil!")

So glad we got more content in the show I know this is old but wanted to point it out.
Sir Alec Guiness knew almost nothing about Obi Wan's back story, because Lucas himself hadn't worked it out. But Guiness could play a memory haunted war veteran because he WAS a memory haunted war veteran.

Well, another thing is the idea that darth vader really did kill anakin. Obi Wan may have bested him in battle but anakin was arguably dead by then (or at least he would be by the end of the movie.) There is a more spiritual interpretation behind it. The anakin we knew and loved ceased to exist when he turned to the darkside. This is also why some people liked that the younger anakin showed up as a force ghost.

The "Darth Vader killed him" wasn't a lie as much as a misdirection, it's technically true as Anakin's loving and passionate self was turned to Vader

Alec Guinness was such a phenomenal fucking actor, you could see just how deep the PTSD ran from movies that hadn't even been made yet
