  • OBI-WAN WE LOVE YOU YOU KNOW THAT
Didn't realize how badly I need this Kenobi series to come out until now but oh boy do I need to see that show and just cry my eyes out hopefully
    ****CLONE WARS SPOILER BELOW****
Poor Obi-Wan, there are so many characters in the Star Wars universe who've experienced so much tragedy, but I stand by my statement that Obi-Wan has absolutely gone through perhaps more than anyone (losing Qui-Gon, his gal, Padme dying in front of him, his apprentice becoming the supervillain who goes on to terrorize the galaxy and having to spend the rest of his life in isolation just contemplating life), and this fantastic (yet eerily spooky) tribute gave me so many chills and really punches you in the gut with how sad Obi-Wan's path has been since Order 66. "Now the Jedi are all but extinct" literally one of the saddest lines ever...
Need this Kenobi series and need it NOW, and I truly hope that it follows a similar vein as this tribute, so spectacular yet anxiety inducing and stressful and upsetting :( (but still flipping awesome) Samurai Sosa oh my gosh what an incredible video!! Not to mention this video is like viral within the Star Wars fandom and it's about time I watched it on my channel!! Shoutout to those of you who have been asking for this for forever, sorry it took me so long to put it out!

The PTSD was captured perfectly with the timing of the cuts. Also Obi-wan lied about Vader's true identity because Luke looking up to, admiring, and wanting to be a Jedi like his father was crucial to his success in training.

He'd be going through this, fighting off isolation madness by meditating and talking to Qui-Gon; dealing with choices he made that led to his isolation and the state of the whole galaxy.
This just goes to show how legendary Obi-Wan Kenobi is.
Despite through everything he's gone through; he stayed strong not just for himself, but for Luke because he knew he had a duty to protect that new hope.

The passage of time helps. The pain never really heals, but acceptance of the past, the will to carry on with the knowledge and experience of it all, comes with time. Alec Guinness's Obi-wan demonstrates that to me with his contemplative gazes. He carries the weight of pain and loss in his eyes but acceptance he still has purpose, and fulfilling that purpose will put things in motion to right the wrongs of the past. If I was in Obi-wan's shoes, I'd have taken a lot of comfort in that. I can almost imagine it now:
"I've lost everyone I ever knew. Everything I ever had and was got taken from me, and by failing my adoptive brother I share a great deal of responsibility for his descent into darkness. Even in leaving him to die I could still not bring myself to end his life, and the evil in him was able to spread through the galaxy, so I have some responsibility in that too. My best was simply never enough.
I hurt, I regret, and for what I believe is rightly so, which is why I have lived in exile. But what I have left to do will set a young man on the path to cast light back onto darkness, something I could not do myself. Yet though I could not bring darkness back into the light, as I prepare to leave this world I find solace in being the one who lights the torch."

My favorite line on a rewatch of episode four is when, referring to R2-D2, Obi-Wan says "I don't seem to remember ever owning a droid". I like to take that as him not thinking of R2 as property, but as his friend.

All the adversity he went thru/emotional trama, yet the understanding , compassion , goodness and values to stay to the light is truely a testament to his character. Inspiring.

Obi-Wan gets lots of criticism for being a liar, but "here's your father's sword, he wanted you to have it" is a far gentler introduction to things than "here's your dad's sword, he murdered children with it and I took it from him while he burned to death".

This video got right in the heart. Obi-Wan became traumatized when Luke Skywalker had asked him about his father. To Obi-Wan, Anakin Skywalker was more than a student and a best-friend. He was his brother for life, and it’s sad to see them go their separate ways. A young brother (Anakin Skywalker) fell to the darkness due to worrying of losing a loved one, and older brother (Obi-Wan) stayed in the light, but became depressed due to losing the most closet person he ever had in his life. Obi-Wan really did loved Anakin like a brother.

If they do an Obi-Wan series, I definitely want it to be done right. Show Obi-Wan still holding on to hope in the Force, while in moments to himself he is seen struggling to hold onto that hope. Jedi aren't immune to PTSD; they endured a tragic war and Jedi powerful enough in the Force would probably sense more and more of their numbers die. Just some things I would like to see to help demonstrate this.
    1) Obi-Wan, hooded and cloaked, makes his way through the market place looking through items that would help make living in his hut more bearable. He keeps a wary eye out on a nearby squad of storm troopers patrolling the market place and stopping random citizens for questioning. When he turns around, he receives a jump scare by coming face to face with a Magna Guard, causing him to fall onto his back. We then see the Magna Guard is not active, just hanging on a portable rack along with deactivated Battle Droids. The junk dealer curses at Obi-Wan in an alien language as he passes by, telling the hermit to watch where he's going. Obi-Wan looks and sees his hand on his lightsaber, showing how close he just came to giving himself away in front of Imperial storm troopers.
    2) Every now and then, Obi-Wan would sense the death of a Jedi and tries so desperately to tune it out because he's overwhelmed with guilt; having not only trained and failed the man who had betrayed them all, but willfully served under the man who now rules supreme and orchestrated the very war that destroyed the Order. Every now and then, he senses the pain of Jedi being tortured, hearing them cry and scream, denying knowing where someone is. A dark voice full of rage keeps asking them over and over, "Where is he?! WHERE IS HE?!" (Obviously it's Darth Vader, but at this point Obi-Wan doesn't know Vader survived)
    3) After a PTSD induced nightmare from the war, Obi-Wan gets out of bed to hydrate himself. A mechanical hand suddenly seizes his ankle and yanks, causing him to tumble to the floor. Obi-Wan struggles in shock and horror as the limbless, still burning body of Darth Vader uses his mechanical limb to pull himself up Obi-Wan's body; his breathing harsh and grating like a horrible strangled rasp, smoke and glowing ash drifting off his body like a hellish landscape and eyes, yellow and red streaked eyes that lock onto Obi-Wan's with extreme agony, overwhelming guilt, horror at what he has become, and pure, pure, pure hatred. The mangled Sith Lord continues, with Obi-Wan struggling desperately to keep the mechanical hand away from his throat. In an act of desperation, Obi-Wan calls his lightsaber to his and swings, only for the apparition to have vanished. Now alone in the dark, Obi-Wan drops the lightsaber and cries.
    4) Sensing a strong pull in the Dark Side, Obi-Wan goes to investigate the cause. Riding his eopie far out into the Badlands, Obi-Wan comes across the long abandoned camp of a tribe of Tuskens. The camp is completely destroyed with the remains of Tusken sticking out half buried in the sand. Entering a tent with a hole cut in it, Obi-Wan finds a rack with leather strips. The Force guiding him, he touches it to investigate why there was a nexus of the Dark Side here. He's surprised to see Anakin, holding onto the broken and bleeding body of his mother. "Stay... stay with me, Mom," he pleads through tear stained eyes as his mother dies in his arms. Obi-Wan, forgetting everything that Anakin did as Vader, reaches toward Anakin to comfort him. Halfway through, his hand stops before it can touch the shoulder of his young apprentice as Obi-Wan feels a massive surge of the Dark Side. He watches as Anakin lays his mother down and exits the tent, then looks on in horror as Anakin strikes the Tuskens down one by one. The vision ends, and Obi-Wan reflects upon what he saw as Qui-Gon appears before him. He asks if this is what the Force intended; to take its own Chosen One and torment him until he could only find comfort in the Dark Side. He also laments that he failed Qui-Gon in his promise for Anakin to be a Jedi.
5)At a cantina bar in Mos Eisley, Obi-Wan gets a drink while a holovid displays Imperial propaganda. Appearing disinterested, Obi-Wan looks away from the footage as reports of a nest of Jedi were destroyed until he hears the name Darth Vader, causing his blood to run cold. Looking up at the holovid, he sees a dark cloaked and masked figure cutting several Jedi down one by one while his troopers open fire from behind. The bar tender speaks his approval of the Empire finally getting rid of the Jedi, but as he turns to Obi-Wan, he finds Obi-Wan is gone, save for a few credits on the bar. Obi-Wan is seen staggering down an alley, holding onto the wall for support before sliding down onto the ground, weeping as he realizes not only is his old apprentice still alive, but the Jedi he has tormented has done so because of Obi-Wan; making him indirectly responsible for them suffering and dying.

All of those ideas are brilliant and I hope they are all included in the series! The last one is already canon in a comic and I find it hard to see how they could not avoid the first point. But 2-4 would be great scenes in the show, especially 4.

    • @patrioticjustice9040
      @patrioticjustice9040 2 роки тому

@@conorwalsh471 Thanks. I wasn't aware that the last one had already been done by someone; I had been contemplating how Obi-Wan would learn of his former apprentice's survival and how he would react. The weight of the galaxy has got to be on Obi-Wan's shoulders, and it would probably cause him grief knowing that others were being tortured and killed because he left his old friend to die.

Let's be honest: Obi-Wan kept so much from himself when you factor in the entire chronology. Qui-Gon, Sadine, Cody, Vader and Maul. For someone who tried to detach himself of all emotions, he's risen above every evil by caring for those who did matter. And then we realize he only trained so he could keep his promise in a way.

Video edits like these are very interesting because you have actors like Alec Guinness who was only given suggestions by George Lucas at the time of the kinds of things Obi-Wan had been through, and the scene with Luke inside the Ben's house if you look at his facial expressions when he thinks of Anakin and you can see flashes of regret, of adoration, of joy at the memories of the breifest flashes of sadness at everything he's been through....and the prequels were onlyan idea in the back of George Lucas's mind whne he was filming all this in the late seventies. It's really pretty amazing when you give a good actor a character's backstory and then that actor has to use their face and body movements to convey SO MUCH to an audience, which is why Alec Guinness got the job. Guiness himself was not a fan of Star Wars at all, but he stil took the job and took the character seriously, and it shows in his performance.

The real Anakin would never have done those horrible things. this is why Anakin is dead to Obi-Wan, killed be Vader.

Obi wan had nothing pain,Tragedy and sorrow in his life from a young age starting with death of Tahl Qui gon s love interest and closest thing obi wan had too a mum when he was 15 then the death of Qui gon 10 years later at the hands of maul then losing Siri and also losing Satine also too maul and as if there wasn't enough sadess, pain And tragedy in his life he loses Anakin too his best friend/ little brother too sith nut job palpatine and as that is'nt enoug h heart ache and pain he learn s in the most heartbreaking way that Anakin the young man that raise and loves like a little brother has not only killed his friends but that he has killed all jedi kids as well. then when he and Padme try to confront and reason with Vader / anakin Anakin trys to kill both Padme and Obi wan. Obi wan may have hated the horrible things and deeds Anakin did as Vader . But his maiming Vader and leaving vader to burn wasnt about Obi wan hating Anakin and wanting him too suffer it was about Obi wan not being able to cope with the guilt and heartbreak of knowing that had he let Anakin go with him to help him kill Grievous Anakin have never become Vader and kill so many people for palpatine. No obi wan did nt hate Anakin he loved him but at the same time he could stand to see what palpatine had turn him into and remember who vader used to be . that is why obi wan walked away from Anakin/ Vader that day on Mustafar his heart and soul broken.

@Catherine, if you got nothing to watch tonight since I hate disappointing women a lot. Check this first scene out and see if you love it. You might be like why do you sending videos. I'll just say this in third person, It's just what Josian does.
