The funny thing about Black Maria's devil fruit is that that specific spider was only like, 1 centimeter big. It was not a big spider, yet it's devil fruit is being used by one of the biggest characters in this arc.

Black Maria’s ‘hybrid’ form is actually inspired by another Japanese Yokai called a Jorogumo (Kanji literally means Women Spider). These yokai are shapeshifters that could transform from a spider to a beautiful women or any combination of the 2. While not always malicious, they had a tendency to lure men to their deaths by getting them entangled and killed in her webs.....how fitting.

Hey tekking i actually just learned this like the day before i read the chapter but black Maria is a reference to a Japanese monster called a Jorogumo. Which is a Women, typically a prostitute who is secretly disguised as a giant man eating spider. Theres a story about a samurai slashing a women and then in the same area they find a dead giant spider which they cut open and out pops out a thousand human heads and a bunch of man sized spider babies.

9:13 I like to think of this as being a moment where Robin remembers important details for Luffy because she knows him so well. Like, I believe that behind the scenes Robin, as the ship’s scholar, takes note of any piece of information that would be important on their adventures and later finds a way to relate it to something that would make sense to Luffy. She’s really patient with him.

Black Maria’s ‘hybrid’ form is actually inspired by another Japanese Yokai called a Jorogumo (Kanji literally means Women Spider). These yokai are shapeshifters that could transform from a spider to a beautiful women or any combination of the 2. While not always malicious, they had a tendency to lure men to their deaths by getting them entangled and killed in her webs.....how fitting.

Chopper kept falling down so he decided to just take that poster down instead of dealing with it every week. Chopper was behind him anyway so it made sense.

I kinda see brook and robin taking over the fights of jimbei and sanji so it’s brook against who’s who and robin against Black Maria, because for me jimbei is too strong for who’s who’s and sanji isn’t gonna fight her anyways so I feel like those two would also be able to high dif a flying six member

I kinda figured that maybe the transformations with the spider devil fruits are a bit different from normal. Like for example Onizumo or whatever his name was also doesn't change completely but instead grows several extra spidery limbs

Hey tekking i actually just learned this like the day before i read the chapter but black Maria is a reference to a Japanese monster called a Jorogumo. Which is a Women, typically a prostitute who is secretly disguised as a giant man eating spider. Theres a story about a samurai slashing a women and then in the same area they find a dead giant spider which they cut open and out pops out a thousand human heads and a bunch of man sized spider babies.
