2 questions 1. Why no "Men of Harlech"? 2. Has Billy the Regimental Goat done something dreadful? He used to be a Lance Corporal in my days in the 3rd Battalion RRW 35 years ago!
just a quick question, on the Welsh Regiments dress uniforms, there are black ribbons on their backs. Are these memorial ribbons for their respective regiments?
Diesel4C8 its back from when they had platted hair. They used to use pig grease to grease theyre hair. The ribbon stopped it gettin on the uniform. Then one of the kings banned it. However they kept the ribbon. Another king tried to get rid of the ribbon. Inwich a high rank responded with something along the lines if "at no point during this campaign, did any enemy see the flash (the ribbon) of a welsh fusillier"
The flash, it’s 5 ribbons, the royal Welch kept as they were the last ever regiment to wear it, as they were in Nova Scotia when the dress code changed and so by royal decree they still wear it
Officers, the Drum Major and Warrant Officers' wear bearskin caps, the other ranks (in this case the pioneer platoon and colour escort) wear Fusilier busbies. They are made of racoon or sealskin and are traditional for Fusilier regiments, in this case the Royal Welch Fusiliers.

3rd battalion RWF
Why the aprons? Is that because they’re marching behind the goat?
The aprons represent the daily attire the soldiers would wear doing jobs with their tools that they have on display.
