“Diamond Hoo Ha Man” was the lead single from Supergrass’ sixth album of almost the same name (“Diamond Hoo Ha”) released on 14 January 2008. The video was directed by Charly Harrison, brother of lead singer Gaz Coombes (who also appears in the video) and stars Gaz and Danny as The Diamond Hoo Ha Men creating “their own cinematic salute to Supergrass” with the boys playing their alter egos Randy Hoo Ha and Duke Diamond.

At the time Mick Quinn, who plays bass in Supergrass, was recovering from injuries to his spine after sleepwalking out of a second floor window. During his rehabilitation, Danny and Gaz enbarked on a mini-tour as a guitar and drums duo under the name "Diamond Hoo Ha Men." Given the resulting technical limitations, it's not surprising that this song resembles the material of the White Stripes. Mick has since made a full recovery and is back on tour with Supergrass.

This is why I continue to love this band, six years after first discovering them in a used cd store. I don't know who the idiot was who got rid of their cd, but I'm glad they did, otherwise I'd have no clue about one of the coolest bands out there!

great band unfairly pigeonholed by the Brit music press as "Britpop", a condescending, limiting label that doesn't begin to describe the depth and width of SG's compositional talent. Sad they were never more recognized and influential in the 'states, we sure could use it with crap like lady caca, miley virus and beyuckce stinking up the charts.

I must admit that as a long time fan, I was initially somewhat indifferent when I first heard it, but it's definitely growing on me. Not half as bad as some folk are making out.
As much as I enjoyed the downtempo Road To Rouen, it's good to have the catchy, rockin'-out Supergrass sound back once more.
I had this one song on my mp3 player like 8 years ago by accident and I listened to it alot for a short time. Then recently I heard the riff in an AXE commercial and became so confused as to why I knew it by heart, because I had completely forgotten who or what it was. Now I found it and the flashback to my youth is complete. Thanks AXE

The White Stripes didn't invent the use of drums and guitars on rock songs. Album is out end of March, the single Bad Blood just before then.

Great album this. I have been a fan of Supergrass right from the start but must admit that the last couple of albums have fallen a bit short. Diamond Hoo ha is them back at their best. I hope you all agree?
Vevo is a huge company that is here to stay.
No one likes advertising but lets face it. It pays the bills. Its a small price to pay but at least it keeps UA-cam FREE. Do YOU want to pay the operating costs of maintaining billions upon billions of videos, the hundreds staffed to maintain the servers that run it as well as the myriad of upgrades, mobile apps, and the API? Initially they were 'Supergrass and Rob Coombes', playing as an official three piece and Rob on keys.
Then a couple of albums back they officially made Rob a member.
As far as I know, Charly Coombes only played keyboard bass whilst Mick recovered from a broken back. It was a temporary measure.
So they are a four piece, Rob is actually on the new album cover.

Nah, its still Gaz, Dan, Mick and since 2002 Gaz's brother Rob. The Diamond Hoo Men are Gaz and Danny gigging as a 2-piece while Mick recovers from his broken back. They played some gigs just before Christmas as Supergrass with Gaz's other brother Charly playing the bass on a keyboard.
@angel46060 Weird, I saw the lead singer at the Who Rock honors and thought it was Jack White, but vocally I don't hear too too much of a resemblance where I would actually think it was him. But it is a similar style, the guitar at some parts too.
Are we really gonna get into a Blur v Oasis?! That was 1995 man! And even then Supergrass were still better than either of them. Blur haven't done anything for about five years and Oasis haven't made a good record for almost 15 years!

Supergrass and the Manics are the only two bands from the 90s that are worth $hit. Supergrass are insanely good, and are actually better than 80% of the British bands that got big back in the day. That includes Oasis.

I disagree. There's one thing that really separates Supergrass from most current bands, and all good bands posses it: great melodic timing and chord progression. The guys really know how to craft a song.

The riff is so similar to Moby dick, it almost seems like a Led Zeppelin ripoff. Nice song though, as much as Moby Dick, naturally.
