A waste of 11:43 seconds of my life, what was the point of a video that never makes it to it's destination? Not to mention some of the video was not shot on the stamped trail!
Nice video, thanks
Cool I wondered when you guys would be up here
And every year someone dies making that trip too. Gezz drove all the way up there and didn't stop in Campbell River BC.....No #BC beer for you!
It wasn't a moose but a caribou he killed. It is also disputed that the berries or fungus caused his starvation. If he would have had a map there was another creek crossing a short distance away. But your jeep 'expertise' makes me laugh. So thanks for that.
...should have showed us the real bus :(
I think I just watched an 11 minute, 43 second Jeep commercial?
Not me, I jumped from the beginning to where he located the bus.
Agreed but add with a story about Chris and then a short viewing of a movie props.
jeep wrangler, check
north face poofy jacket, check
skinny jeans and chuck taylors, check
bring it nature
Walking the rest of the way to the bus, No way
Not going to the "real bus", check.
Matt R....:D Lmao...check
LOL, EXACTLY. How totally ironic...
roywhiteo5 LMAO
I read the book... They have since air lifted the real bus out of where it was when Chris died. To many people were making the pilgrimage to the bus and and other people have died making the trek. So recently when a young woman died making one of those pilgrimages they decided to remove the bus.
The bus was airlifted out and is now being restored for display by The Museum at The University of Alaska, Fairbanks.
Mr. McCandless sought to become one with the natural world. Unfortunately for him he realized too late that as much as he may have cared about nature it is not a nurturing mother but a neutral observer which watched impassively as he failed to survive.
+Dan Troop At the risk of sounding as cold as "Mother Nature" herself... I will never understand why people are so compelled by the story of some fool who wandered out into the wilderness and basically killed himself via his own ignorance and stupidity.
+ Paul Steed If not killing myself via my own ignorance and stupidity makes me a pussy... well, I'd rather be a pussy who's alive than an stupid ignorant man who's dead.
DroverChicago I agree he went too far but if you cant see the beauty behind his story then you are possibly more ignorant than he was.
@@Guy_de_Loimbard it's better to die on your feet than live on your knees.
Beautifully said!
You took us on a trip yo a movie set bro **
I forgot to add that I've lived here in Alaska for 20 years and I have had some friends get lost and some not return, rest in peace Sharon B.!!
Hi friends did you know how the old international harvester k5 bus reached those woods ??
There is a story
ua-cam.com/video/CZ0BxWmNzUw/v-deo.html
What’s Sharon B.’s story?
Chris never burned his id ,ihis wallet was found years later with money still in.
Honestly pretty silly not to spend it if you knew it was just going to get left behind. I would have ordered a pizza or something at least. Even if I had to over tip the pizza guy.
But he did take a picture of him burning money just saying
By the end of summer in 1990, McCandless had driven his Datsun through Arizona, California and South Dakota, where he worked at a grain elevator in Carthage. A flash flood disabled his car, at which point he simply removed its license plates, took what he could carry and kept moving on foot. His car was later repaired and served as an undercover vehicle for the local police department...to quote wiki...I read a copy of his hand written journal in the early 90's before the book came out and it brought me to tears to think about the way he died.i took it s a great life lesson and at the time had not realized that it just happened...I thought until today that the entire event happened in the 70's...before I read it I wanted to go to Alaska an live off the land and after I would never do anything like that
This is a Jeep advertisement, has nothing to do with Chris. I have a Jeep, this is shame. What a joke...
Seen the movie was sad but a life lesson - happiness is best shared
Into the Wild is one of my favorite books.
" He died somewhere over there... but anyway, check out this jeep. "
I have done 97 countries mostly hitchiking and shared my knowledge with many people about traveling and one of them was Nika Nikanova, who died crossing that river in her hitchiking honeymoon trip on the way back from the bus! I saw two buses already just in safe places!
wheres the story on how that bus ended up there in the first place....the real bus since im seeing that this isnt the reaal one
he should've been a millennial!
Why? Is there a shortage of millennial assholes like us?
It’s a video about the bus that was a stunt double for the real bus. Lol kinda cool. Always thought they used the same bus in the movie lol
Depressing! You SHOULD have shown the real bus after all of that.
The jeep must of been more important lol.
The bus has been moved as of 2020
It's the Movie Bus not the actual bus...
wack
So you don’t go to the actual bus? What a waste of time, thanks.
There was absolutely no point to this Jeep commercial. What a disgrace.
Pretty shitty how they moved the real bus
There's a guy that owns a hotel on the stampede trail. That probably destroyed his business!
how did someone get a city transit bus clear out in the middle of no where? like was there an a rd there or property someone had? just curious
It was towed out there by a bulldozer in 1961 during the construction of the stampede trail. The bus was left there because of a broken axle. The bus was used as housing for the workers building the road.
@@epicarts2105 oh cool thnx....i thought the story and movie was pretty cool though tragic too...i always wonder how vehicles wind up waay out in places where there generally isnt a way for them to get there anymore
I watched the movie "Into The Wild" years ago and haven't forgotten it. I was hoping life was gonna turn out good for Chris while watching the movie but came with a sad ending. My condolences to the family and friends of Chris. Thanks for the cool Jeep tour video and almost reaching the actual site, that is one unforgiving terrain. Extra supplies and a good 4-wheel will get you in and out of this area.
In fact Chris was really broken by the circumstances that he faced. ..and he hated everything around he had and wanted to wash his memory that's why he returned to nature........
I don’t think he “hated everything around”
If you read his quotes, he talks about how most people do not choose real freedom but instead trap themselves in complacent conformity. This “value system” leads to a loss of identity self actualization, and worse - a life not realized.
In most developed nations people are trained to simply be conformist consumers, and those departing from such lifestyle are alienated.
Lastly - We don’t talk about child abuse and trauma caused from it because then we would have to question our relationship choices, lifestyle priorities, and personal identity, so instead we pretend everything is wonderful on the outside but inside most people are present day products of past trauma.
Chris wanted to take the road less traveled in order to reconcile and overcome such trauma
Im here looking for stuff on Chris McCandles and I get a Jeep Commercial??? what crap....
You guys rocked this video! I have a Jeep Wrangler Unlimited and I was living vicariously through your adventure. The aerial shots were fantastic. Even the conversations with Tommy were entertaining. Visiting Alaska with my RV towing my jeep is on my list of things to do.
Also, when you started showing the "Magic Bus", I got all emotional. It might not have been the real deal, but it was just awesome to see the bus and to see the memorial that they built.
We started reading this book in English class a couple weeks ago and from the moment I started reading it, it inspired me. I don't think I've ever read anything like it. I kinda want to take my own adventure into Western Canada and Alaska someday, maybe not with as few things as Chris did, but it would sure be the trip of a life time.
So is tryna show off the keep orrr🤣😅
6 years into the future. Need to take a RT1 or Ford lightning down that trail.
Cybertruck could do it
this guy is really flexing his jeep
wonderful content guys, wish it was possible to hit that like button thousand times. keep up the good work guys.
Why couldn't you guys go to the real Magic Bus?
Did you watch the video?
+The Fast Lane Car lol
Because they didn't want to get muddy.
Drove through some mud puddles and drove back to a brewery to show us a movie prop...
This video was more about showing off the jeep, waste of time. Then to top it of, you dont even show the real bus
A car review channel focused on a Jeep Are you serious? What has the world come to Mr 1999
suburban guy in a jeep video
Dude was a total buffoon. Cool story though.
The Father: He finally starved but looked for his freedom and his father is in the job because he had two families. The Son: Great.
Most important: the Jeep Wrangler did it
If there is a missing report about the son.. no wonder. He might have escaped from this "father"
psml
I thought they were planning on moving the bus because of people stealing things and other nonsense going on there? I've been a huge fan of Into The Wild since forever and one day really hope it's still there for years to come so I can too one day visit it.
Christopher McCandless was no inspiration. He was a reckless, foolhardy eccentric who plunged headlong into dangerous situations with no forethought or planning. People have died or suffered serious injury following what they thought was some sort of misguided path to self-discovery. The best thing to happen with this whole sorry saga was when the Alaskan authorities had the bus removed.
Love the fact that Jeeps can take you on these unique adventures. That’s the Jeep life. Thanks for sharing.
LSanti lol so can toyotas, nissans, chevys, fords... Just not dodges...
is it impossible to get to the actual bus? the 6x6 ATV cant go there either? its kinda of a bummer to get all the way there and not see the bus. the town should build a path to the actual bus and they will get their economy booming
you have to basically walk on a wire or rope climb it horizontally to get across the river
+Elirv Smlnovov lol. I wouldn't go that far. lol. Good movie, but not exactly a smash hit.
I cannot understand why a needless death and in a situation that left him alone and suffering is "inspiring" to anyone. He did not "live life to its fullest" because his life was cut very, very short by his own decisions. He gave away all his tomorrows to follow an ill-fated idea. Sometimes I think people are more drawn to their own need to "be inspired" than they are at finding appropriate things from which to draw that inspiration. It's sad.
i was just there! i'm learning to really love alaska!
yuppie produces click bait video
into the wild, one of my favorite movies, RIP Chris
He burned his money because he was deparate, knew it, and did not have hope to get outta there. But, remember he had money [hundee buh] stashed in his sock and pulled it out later and was able to get a job if he got outta there and did. It also helps to know how to make "jerky" which is thin strips air dried or smoked but, must bit thin strips so it will dry/cure before getting rotten or spoiling.
dude's son must've felt like.. "wtf dad? why do u respect this little dbag? Will u FINALLY respect me if i do crazy shit like this?" smh
Con man, liar, sold his mother the Brooklyn Bridge. This is just a Jeep commercial going to see the movie prop and not the real 142.
That bus was recently picked up by an Alaska National Helicopter and moved to an undisclosed location. So don't try to find it.
I am not inspired . wasmt the real bus . at a brewery ( figures cashing in on a event or idea) These wranglers are weak . a 96 ford ranger could do all of this . not about submodels .
If he’d have set a warning fire he would have been rescued within hours, his sister said he would have rather died than start a forest fire...🤔
next time get yourself a ford Bronco2 and you wont have to worry about those beaver dams anymore
Who is nerd with him ? This looks lil gay? Thank god for the masculine wrangler
so much wrong with this video
....and now the national guard moved it to undisclosed location.
Alexander Supertramp
thank you for showing this video with respect and understanding the story
the big question about him is was he a transcendentalist or just a boy who wanted to get out of his so called good life. The story is very moving as is the movie.
That's what you think. But he followed in the foot steps of a transcendentalist author. Have you read the book? The movie makes you pick a side. I had to go through transcendentalism chapter my sophomore year in highschool. I believe that Chris "alexender supertramp" was a transcendentalist at heart. He completed his journey but was not able to leave is surrounding area and died from a toxin from a potato root.
The bus has been moved.Sad what happen to Chris
You can drive on the Stampede trail to the bus now?
Clickbait commercial on the memorial of a kid.
I watched all this and it's not the actual bus??? Come on...
Daniel King Hunters were taking shits in the original bus!
Wow this was horrible.
This is just a jeep ad and its kind of pathetic
Unibody turds not a real jeep 😒
I Recently went to Alaska and was talking to a local from Healy, who did not refer to the bus (the real one) as the magic bus, but more aptly called it "the idiot bus". A while back a woman had drowned trying to cross the river and see the bus where an idiot died and a neo-heroic myth was born.
Way to take a man's death and turn it into a commercial to sell jeep wranglers..
I'm sure this is what he would have wanted.
+RatherBeCamping 556 You mean the same way his death was used to sell books and movie tickets or is that different? Roman tells a thoughtful and interesting story in this video but haters will always hate.....so sad!
The Fast Lane Car that's a bit different don't you think? Telling his story is one thing, selling me your jeep is another..
I made it out to the bus with my jeep solo, drove from key west florida to dead horse AK.
Russ Olo I would like to here more about your trip I'm planning the same thing from Louisiana
I kept my trip to scenic highways and back roads for the drive up. the road to the bus was an adventure, ill see if I can upload it.
Poor taste. Hopefully the money your making from exploiting this young mans death goes to the family. Didn't even happen that long ago! Jesus.
Who put that Bus there in the first place? Anymore know?
Stalin did before he sold Alaska that bus is a bonus
hikers get to the bus all the time
Do I sense a Christopher Alexander Johnson Supertramp McCandless industry or franchise?
Like this could be the 142nd comment, same as the fleet number of the bus left along the trail.
Splashing through puddles can get your cables/wires tore out, or unplugged under there from jetting water.
FAKE bus....thumbs down.
Jeep wrangler commercial.
There are so many misunderstandings about Alaska I can't even begin to address them!!
Great video sad story!!
I had heard the town of Fairbanks had moved the bus for public safety reasons, but I guess not.
Loved this video. I’m planning a trip up there in my 17 F150 STX 4x4 to drive the Dalton too. Just wondering if you guys think my truck would make it to the river or if it’s too washed out to chance it?
Tommy's the spittin' image of Buddy Holly 😏
Gato Excellent! Does that make the rest of the TFL crew "The Crickets"? (I keed, I keed!) lol
Me & my Jeep: Sometimes you find yourself in the middle of nowhere.... And, sometimes, in the middle of nowhere, you find yourself.
awesome just read the book
How lame, splashing through puddles does not make an interesting video.
Not the real bus.
Roman? Are these jeeps rented? Wonderful little video. Thank you. Hat tip to you and your son.
This is one of my favorite videos of all time
Sad .. If you look you find better.
Like one with his sister visiting the real bus where her brother died.
Lots of videos of people hiking to the real bus.
Is it physically possible anymore to reach THE bus, even on foot?
I feel cheated.
This documentary has brought to you by Jeep Wrangler.
Fraud.😎😏👎
Awesome! It reminds me of happy hours in my old Jeep Cherokees with my wife and sons.
Just discovered this channel and i have always wanted to make the trip up there.
Fake
