Good trivia. What do the Baltimore Orioles and the Baltimore Ravens have in common. They both were the Browns.

My father, Dick Armstrong, was the O's first P.R. director and among other innovations, was responsible for creating "Mr. Oriole" -- the first live, on-field major league mascot in 1954 (10 years before "Mr. Met!") -- who appears briefly at about the 2:13 mark.

      What a wonderful family legacy
Mr. Armstrong. I live in Brooks Robinson home town of Little Rock. Cheers to you and Go O's.

@@huckfinn9225 Thank you, @HuckFinn. Both my father (first PR Director) and grandfather (Herb Armstrong, the O's first Business Manager who served in that capacity till 1971 and ultimately became known as "Mr. Baltimore") were integral to the Orioles's early years. My Dad lived long enough to be able to attend the O's 60th anniversary celebration in 2014 (at the age of 92) and was invited to throw out the first pitch at that evening's game vs. the Cardinals!

Paul Richards is the man most responsible for laying the groundwork, in the 1950s, of the Orioles later success. they stockpiled a lot of good pitchers, and developed the Oriole Way. By 1960, Orioles were a top contender, almost having won the pennant from Yankees.

There's more than one team named the browns to move to Baltimore.

Where did the first Baltimore Oriole team, which became the NY Yankees, play during the one year that they were in Baltimore?

The Brownies were the only team to move east; everybody else moved west.

And the only franchise that moved in the 50's to change its name.

The Milwaukee Braves moved East in 1966 - to Atlanta. They still haven’t gotten around to changing their name though … which is kind of amazing, really.

Probably, but I'm still a little ticked at her for picking The 9ers over The Ravens in SB 47

Actually her father was. He was deeply involved with the team coming to Baltimore.

@markjohnson7488 Oh, believe me, I’m as embarrassed as embarrassed can be!! For shame for shame. I wrote a long post from memory without looking anything up or spending time reviewing it for absent minded errors.
The horror! The humiliation!! How can I ever show my face again to the wide world of picky trivia experts?
You are so, so, right! Carter was president for 4 full years (20 Jan 77 - 20 Jan 81) whereas Ford was president a little more than 2 years (9 Aug 74 - 20 Jan 77). How could I have been so careless? How could I have been so stupid?
You are so much wiser, sir, and so much finer than me.
