I would like to chime with my favorite place for ice cream. It is Richardson’s Dairy in Middleton, MA. The Richardson family have been farmers since 1694. (You read that correctly ..1694!) Their ice cream is made from their own cows that are behind the ice cream stand. I remember the late Ben Richardson’s answer when questioned if the ice cream was fresh. His response was; “It was in the cow this morning”. I also love the fact that their ice creams that have “add-ins” like, Heath® Bar, Snickers®, Almond Joy®, have a piece in every spoonful. Some pieces are large enough that you need to chew them. Portions are not skimpy either. If I get containers to take-home; I get them “Hand Packed”. It is a bit more expensive; but, they pack so tightly that the weight makes up for the additional cost. The only problem; if you can call it a problem with the “Hand Packed” is they fill them so full the lids might not fully close! I’ve seen times where they may have 15-20 folks scooping on a hot summer night. That turnover tells me that product is not sitting around for days. You can also visit the cows that made the milk for your ice cream. Super cool experience for kids to see where their food is sourced. There is a Miniature Golf Course adjacent. IMO a great family friendly destination.
