Black bears don't like to fight for their food, not worth the caloric effort and potential for injury, so if you antagonize they just go "Nah, not in the mood for you today..."
Brown bears (and grizzlies) they don't mind to go funky for a bite.

Yep. They’ve got Asiatic Black Bears as well. Really bad early in the 2024 for attacks. Saw that a few weeks ago on a clip everyone presumed the Grizzly was in North America. As well as other brown bear species in Eurasia there are ‘Russian’ (Kamchatka and Ussuri) Grizzlies hence the mascot for the Moscow Games which I previously thought was the smaller European/ Eurasian Brown Bear species) and Japanese Ussuri Grizzlies.

I lived in Alaska for years on Admiralty Island.. It has more brown bear per square mile than anywhere else in the world. Several times I came upon bear, several times bear came upon me. I came very close to a mother and her cubs once, like feet away. It was thick brush and, neither of us saw each other coming. Luckily the cubs were on her far side, so it went down like soap dripping into peppered water. Instant retreat in opposite directions by both the bear family, and myself. That was the scariest encounter I ever had with bears.. Fast forward years later I'm living on the Kenai Peninsula, and my young daughter and I leave the house to go for a walk, only to be met with a charging mama Moose protecting her babies.. We had an apple tree in the yard close to the entrance to our house, and they were enjoying the fruits of it. We startled the mama moose just like I startled that mama bear years earlier.. The reactions were polar opposite. That moose went full commando on me and my child, luckily we were close enough to run back inside. She wrecked a bunch of stuff in a rage on my porch though. Scariest wildlife encounter in my life, hands down! Moose>Bear

A bear won't take a young, naive girl and eventually give her a case of Stockholm syndrome until she no longer knows who to trust.

      @@Phoenix0630.

I’m an Aussie and I find it strange when Americans talk about our scary wildlife. Yeah we have some crocodiles in some far reach areas inhabited by hardly anyone. But America has some terrifying large carnivores in areas visited by people often. I’m sitting here in my home in Australia and haven’t seen any dangerous wildlife my entire life near where I live

This is 90% due to those imbeciles who gather in ngo to "save" wildlife allowing the rise in numbers, which exceed the natural habitat. I would leave those morons in places with large bear population to enjoy their work...

I see black and grizz daily in three seasons of my Canuck Rockies. You cannot explain, has to be seen, how quick a grizz is from a standing start. The speed and strength is amazing. We've had a moratorium on grizz hunting for several years , and many show fear no longer. Be very prepared if you're using our backwoods now.
