Is crazy how much similarities are between spanish and Italian. I understood half of the dialogue pretty well. I need to take sometime to learn Italian. I tried to learn Brazilian Portuguese but stopped when some Brazilians kinda joke around my accent 😂

Doing the 8th in Greece with two hands, has the meaning of a lot of money, especially if you also say the word "Να, να"! 14th is the same in Greece. 15th one, we use it against "evil eye". We hit a table or something saying "χτύπα ξύλο", which stands for "knock on the wood"!
Hi Giannis, thank you for your comment! Italy and Greece have so much in common🇮🇹🇬🇷 including cultural superstitions! In Italian, just like in Greek, there's an expression to ward off bad luck, “tocca ferro” (touch iron), which is akin to the Greek “touch wood”!
1, 2, 5, 6, 7, 10 (the one with the finger) and 14 are being used by us Greeks as well 😂

In Italy we have dialects for hand gestures too and they may have slightly different meanings depending on when you come from in the country. I am from the north and I recognise all of these apart from "è morto".
Let me add tha the difference between #1 and #2 (that you somehow mention in words adding "ma") is the difference between "why/what" and "but why... / but wat...". #2 implies disbelief or surprise for something that has already happened, while #1 is a bit more generic.
#3 means that something obvious has happened. It means something close to "perfect", "as expected", "classic!". So the meaning "lo sapevo" comes from "obviously" said in a sarcastic way. (Yes, Italians do hand-sarcasm too). This gesture can also be used for a job well done (in a non sarcastic way)

As an Italian, I think I never saw the "sei morto" gesture (I wouldn't recognize it) and as for the "you're crazy" gestures I'm only familiar with the third one (touching the temple with your finger)
I agree about the "E' morto" sign. In the north of Italy we just mimic the sign of the cross using the two fingers. More or less like the blessing from a priest.

@@irenelapreziosa comunque Irene, hai fatto un ottimo video. Uno straniero che lo guarda può tranquillamente intuire che ogni gesto può avere significati diversi in base al contesto, ma che comunque non cambiano la loro “natura”. Per esempio 👌tracciando la linea, può significare anche “ottimo lavoro” o “perfetto” (almeno qua in molise), ma è meno frequente, in genere si fa 👌e basta, tenendolo fermo. Si può confondere facilmente con il gesto di “lo sapevo, ma le dita sono rivolte verso il basso! È affascinante come cosa.
Comunque tutti questi gesti sono stati per secoli utilizzati senza alcun bisogno di spiegare cosa significhino, li facciamo e basta, ora tutto ad un tratto dobbiamo pure spiegare cosa significano, non è mica semplice!

Questo video è stato improvvisato: è spontaneo, naturale, e completamente in italiano proprio per dare l'opportunità a chi non vive in Italia di immergersi in circostanze reali in cui si parla la lingua "di tutti i giorni"!

Sono italiano di origini bengalesi 🇧🇩, che ci faccio qui? E perché sto guardando questo video? Comunque, per il 13esimo gesto, per quello per dire "stai al mio gioco" tra una lacrima e un occhiolino, a me è sempre sembrato che si faccia così per celare l'occhiolino o per renderlo cmq ambiguo, perché altrimenti renderebbe ovvio ai terzi presenti il tranello. A me ha sempre dato questa impressione; non sapevo, tuttavia, dell'ultimo gesto, la spaghettata. Molto interessante ;)

Chiaramente in un video di pochi minuti non si può scendere nel dettaglio, ma giova aggiungere che spesso il significato del gesto varia con il contesto

1 and 2 have not the same meaning. 7 Is used only in the first way. I never saw in my life first and second way of n.10. In n.13 you merge two different gestures: one Is "occhio" with the forefinger under your eye, It means "pay attention". the other one Is made with the thumb along your cheek and It means "Scarface"... A smart but shady person or way of acting
I'm sorry, you can't just come here and write your incontestable truths. You should write "where I live, we don't use..." just out of politeness, you know. The 1st and 2nd gestures do have the same meaning, perhaps not always or everywhere, but they do in general. Same with nr 7. If you didn't know these 2 other ways to point out someone's crazy, I'm happy you've learnt something new!
Ps. I do also use the two gestures in number 13 separated, but even together. I didn't "choose" to merge them together.

You are making a video that is supposed to explain the italian (not regional) hand gestures, but some of them are simply wrong, so learn to take criticism. I do not see any lack of politeness in my words, so, if you can, reply properly and in substance. 1&2 are similar but not the same at all. I admit that you're right about the second way of n.10 (absolutely not the first). 13 is totally wrong, 2 different gestures with 2 different meanings
@@fabiodv6999 The point is that the gestures I demonstrated are used by Italians, not just me, and thus are Italian hand gestures. Moreover, these gestures are used with the meanings given in the video by pretty much everyone I know. If you use them differently, or they have different meanings where you come from, that’s totally fine; but to STATE, as you did in your original comment, that anything I demonstrated was “wrong” is false, and unfair. This is why your original comment sounded impolite, and was, as I have now explained, incorrect.
