Asking AI to write nice and long emails so that the recipient can ask AI to give a short summary of it.
😀
yep that bit stood out
what an incredibly parasitic usage of AI
😂😂😂😂
Perfect, that's really what we need to understand.
Amazing.
Make AI write emails for you, so that the recipients can use AI to reply, and in the end it’s just Google having a conversation with itself.
🤣
pretty much lmao! at this rate, no one will actually read anything at it will just be typing proompts into AI chatbots
Haha same thought!
Lol, this made me laugh.
😂😂😂😂
Human: "I'm on it"
AI: *writes long useless mail*
Human: "Blegh, summarize it"
AI: "He's on it!"
U got the point.
I mean that's how we communicate. In many cases we need to decorate our messages in order for other people to be interested or in awe. You wouldn't be so fascinated of the work of scientists if you could easily understand what they are saying for example. But of course there is more to it than just that, it's just an example. I just wonder how we are going to evaluate these things now that we don't have to be that "creative" anymore and pretty much anyone can have nice texts and stories: it's all just coming down more and more to the basic gist of a text and it's information, much like how we started using messengers with the shortest text possible to convey an information. We can now use Ai to summarize long papers making information gathering even faster paced than it already is. It's basically the ultimate librarian tool when used correctly. It's crazy to think about how much more easy an Ai guided way of for example reproducing chemical reactions could turn put for a non-chemist. Could be quite a disaster too.
@@mau3304 I would be more fascinated by scientists who is able to explain someting in way that is easy to understand. Using AI to summarize long text is great. Using AI to generate long text, which doesn't carry any additional information is pure essence of stupidity.
@@mau3304 was this written by Ai too ??
😂😂😂
As someone who does online meetings..the AI being a note taker and automatically making a brief summary of the meetings key outputs is a game changer and most useful feature
does it works or you just dreaming? Meetings are just gibberish most of the time...
@@Renovatio2142 what do you mean does it work? The video showed it and clearly Microsoft just showed the same feature on teams with AI so I'm pretty confident it will work or eventually get there.
As for meetings being gibberish. I don't know how your meetings are, but I do have some meetings where actions are raised and I am horrible at taking notes. Not that I don't do it, I can't re-read what I write in my notebook 😂
true but this is nothing if you see what microsoft 365 copilot can do
@@whoolieman you don't think Google will release things to compete. End of the day, Google's AI is more developed and better than Microsoft..the reason Google doesn't release it is political. You see if ChatGPT or Microsoft releases and AI and it makes a mistake, it will just be seen as "oh it's Microsoft or Bing" but if Google does it, it is world news, stocks tumble and everyone starts blaming" so no doubt Google is onto all of this and will be playing things smart. They won't give up on their hold with ease. Remember when they announced auto dialing and booking? It freaked people out and that was years ago.
@@whoolieman what can it do?
We aren't even realizing how historic this era we live in is.
every era made a history
We aren’t even realizing… not even with daily hyped ai news everywhere how it going to take over the world. People will be disappointed if ai not does everything for them.
It will become more clear in hindsight. It feels mundane right now because we're living it, and so when it turned out that the Magic Words are things like "SolidGoldMagikarp" of course it felt mundane.
I do, and i feel like my friends and family are sick to death of hearing me say the words "i asked chatGPT"
It's not as big of a thing as tech people make it seem. AI in a capitalist society will have more of a negative impact on people's lives than a good one, if we were living in a socialist society, then maybe it would be pretty cool actually
What a time to be a user
This competition between Google and Microsoft sure will bear fruits, we were in need for it
nec minit, it's just google and microsoft having ai convos w each other
99% of whitecollar are dead now pretty much
Yep, this is Google's response to Microsoft. As responses go, it's a little weak, though. It's bringing them up to par with productivity suite integration, but leaving them vulnerable in the search space, which is ceding their core competency in favor of a market they they're just not going to penetrate vs Microsoft.
Thankfully ChatGPT set a fire below all these companies' asses, now they actually work hard to make better AI products

I think eventually everyone will realize that it's better to just write short emails as if we're texting than to use AI to write formal emails and summarize emails. There could be a complete shift in the corporate culture.
Interesting comment!!
you reminded me of when I once thought all languages will get shorter and shorter than definite articles would disappear and there would be a LOT more abbreviations:
Tomorrom meeting noon.
= tmn
send team report.
= str
@@mobbs8229 Thank you for sharing your thoughts here. Even I had a similar thought a few years ago but now I think we'll see less abbreviations as time goes on because people have started embracing voice to text.
I think in future people will keep the conversations short and type using voice. And in places where they send voice messages there will be an option to transcribe it or summarize it using AI.
There could be a standard for voice typing allowing us to do voice to text from our smartwatches to any device no matter what operating system it's based on.
Future looks exciting...
I agree . In the modern world, communication has evolved rapidly, and the way we write emails is no exception. As we are bombarded with a seemingly endless stream of emails every day, it is understandable that we would want to cut down on the time we spend drafting messages. However, the rise of Artificial Intelligence (AI) has caused some to suggest that we should take this one step further, by using AI to write formal emails and summarize messages for us.
While this may seem like a tempting idea, it is important to consider the potential consequences of such a shift in the corporate culture. Firstly, there is the question of accuracy - while AI has come a long way, it is not infallible, and there is always the risk that an automated email may contain errors or fail to convey the intended meaning. This could lead to confusion, miscommunication, and ultimately a breakdown in professional relationships.
Secondly, there is the issue of personalization. One of the key strengths of emails is that they allow us to communicate in a more informal, conversational way than traditional letters or memos. By relying on AI to write our emails for us, we risk losing this human touch, and potentially alienating our colleagues and clients.
Finally, there is the danger of a 'one size fits all' approach. While it may be tempting to use AI to streamline our communications, we must remember that different situations call for different levels of formality and detail. By relying on automated tools to write all of our emails, we risk losing the nuance and subtlety that is required for effective communication.
In conclusion, while AI certainly has its uses in the workplace, we must be careful not to rely on it too heavily when it comes to written communication. By taking the time to write short, personalized messages, we can ensure that our professional relationships remain strong and effective, and that we are able to communicate our ideas clearly and accurately.
Damn, Google and Microsoft really competing side-by-side with AI
Google and OpenAI

Stunning! So excited especially for the image generator and how you can change the tone of a document! 🤯 I know these things have been done in the past to differing degrees, but to have them built into the workspace apps is phenomenal! 🙌🏻
All of it looks great, but overtime people will stop reading the emails. When you "know" the response you get will be AI generated, it will start losing it's value to the receiver. I guess that's how we will evolve further.
Eventually you will be able to ask it to write in your style. You wont be able to tell.
To be fair a large amount of email communication is fluff and a major waste of time. Hopefully this technology can help us do our *actual* jobs and spend less time on email.
You say it like it's a bad thing. Emails are boring, and people tend to exaggerate their content to make them sound too formal, wasting the recipient's time for having to read a lot of unnecessary text. This technology will not only save people's time, it will eventually also teach them to be more concise and direct
Ignoring all the jokes being made here, I would like to contemplatively take a moment to appreciate that the world we are living in is really changing! Sending good vibes to everyone that made it to this era, we’ve made it everyone!!
Trying to keep up with Microsoft/OpenAI. Love the competition. Hopefully we can reep the positives from both!
I understand how impressive this technology is, but at the same time I can only feel that we are not using it's full potential when applying it to old mediums such as email instead of experimenting with new solutions for communication via AI
Its just a language model bro not the metaverse
@@kynshra8960 everything is language boi
Bro it's just the beginning 😂 few month ago we didn't know it was possible and now you want to invent time travel after few month
Very thoughtful! Comprehensive description of polishing emails, presentations and article with AI.
Isn't this kind of astonishing/terrifying? I'm no technophobe but I think we're pretty much a couple steps from office clerical work being done almost entirely via human review. Imagine 5 years from now when Google/Bing and all these other AI apps hoover up all of this data and get smarter and approved with wide commercial usage. Clerical work is dead, especially if you're just a pencil pusher. It will condense 10+ jobs into one, reviewing the changes and automations of the AI. What's even more concerning is it's ability to get things wrong, we'll be so disconnected from the actual work itself that when it does make a mistake it could be small, or disastrous.
You will always need people with domain knowledge, as well as data scientists or people specialised in the AI tool in order to troubleshoot.
For the time being, it will be a great tool for professionals, like having a co-pilot with you.
In time, it will probably force governments to set up Universal basic income, and tax businesses for their ai "workers".
5 years from now? Get ready. Singularity could come much sooner.
@@driss409 "always" is probably not a word you should use carelessly when it comes to AI discussions. Nobody knows where we'll be in 5-10 years with this stuff.
you're wrong, this tools connect us even more with the actual work
@@WillyJunior You're right, "always" is a long shot. It's a kind of scary thought that mankind could become pretty much obsolete sooner or later.
Strange times ahead for sure. Hopefully it's for the best.
This is amazing! I would love to see how this compares to Microsoft 👀
When are these expected to go live? Looks great!
Love the whimsical side of this video. The music made me feel like I was playing the sims
Forget the new features.
But the way they presented is excellent. I liked it the most.
Excellent

Wow - I'm loving this and cannot wait to be able to test it out, particularly the presentation creator!
I like the sound of Keyboard that I heard on this video (if someone know about the keyboard sound, please let me know in reply to chat). I can't wait to use it as I love Google Workspace together with Chrome Websites that we were using it, along the ways of our life to be. It is really better to use it as reliable for everyone in just One Account of Google in Chrome for desktops, than using Microsoft 365 as hardest to use it for a while. Thank You
Great Work.....On the Animations offcourse. Until we have a live Demo. So excited for this one.

This will speed up the process so much... Can't wait to use it.
I don't know what's more impressive; the product or this animation.
So cool, hope I can use it daily soon.
Telling the AI to write a thank you letter to the team sounds like disrespect to that team.
unless only the AI of the team reads the letter!
the team is gonna get their AI to summarise the manager’s thank you notes sent so far by his AI, rank them and suggest the best bestiom for him to use in the futuro. You know, so everyone can be more efficient, engaged and more … human-like😀
Yay! This is exciting! Can't wait to try it!
As Microsoft is wiping the floor with Google on this at the moment, what are the timelines to get this out to customers? Current Workspace users will be looking at M365 Copilot as the obvious choice to switch if they come out first.
Dude , I watched Microsoft co-pilot presentation before I saw this and was sold but now that I saw what google has, I want to test it before I make my decision.
@@HoustonKhanyile Yea but timing plays a role. If MS are ready to go with their stuff in a month and Google take until the end of the year, IT departments will get inundated by their users with demands to make a switch... That said, they will also be suuuper-slow to change, so... inertia may save Google in that case.
@@HoustonKhanyile agreed. They're fighting over my attention, let them fight. May the best system win.
Great to see the real world applications of generative AI. Huge productivity booster !!!
I find it a little sussy that human communication is being automated: part of what makes us human is our ability to have our own voice, and it makes me just a little uncomfortable that there's a direct push to get rid of that and replace it with the standard deviation of a person. Don't get me wrong, AI is cool and promising, but I feel like we should be pretty careful when it comes to AI writing for us.
I agree. It’s lying, in a way. “Here’s an email that I wrote”, but actually A.I generated it.
Plus if someone were to reference something 'you' said in future emails and you don't recall saying that or if it goes off the rails you could fired
"Make a presentation off the brief," My teachers are totally going to love this.
Competition in the AI space has been exciting lately. It's an ultimate win for consumers.
Ultimate win for the corporations who no longer need human labor to do their projects.
A new era of getting things done 🙂 Woow!
I bet that in the near future, when an email was generated with AI, it will require some label or badge "generated with xx AI". This needs to be stated clearly and transparently to the receiving part. Also, there will probably be a checkbox where users have the option to opt out from receiving or blocking the AI generated content.
But that's impossible to enforce, isn't it?
couldn't agree more
True, but then watch every corporation or employer you work for ask you to let them send AI generated content at you because they can't be bothered to use Humans for writing emails or whatever.

Oh wow, this really looks like an unstoppable spam generator. It's sad on so many levels that I don't know where to start from, I'll ask to the AI to summarize my disagreement at this point.
"I understand your concerns about the potential for misuse of generative AI in Google Workspace apps. However, it's important to note that Google has strict policies in place to prevent spam and abuse, and they will undoubtedly continue to monitor and refine their algorithms to ensure that they are used ethically and responsibly. Additionally, the use of AI in these apps has the potential to greatly enhance productivity and efficiency for users. It's important to approach this development with a cautious optimism, rather than assuming the worst."
