It’s so weird to me how so many amazing things & answered prayers can happen and we still end up struggling with depression! It just goes to show you can have it all and it still be a struggle 😢
Absolutely, most think that oh if I can just obtain this or get that or accomplish the other I will be happy. But its not the case and yes you can still struggle. I have been there myself.
I thought I did it all …got married had children while holding a senior position all before the age of 35. Let me tell you after everything was done I was miserable and tired. But God has preserved my life so I will keep going till I find what we all are searching for…. internal peace. 🙏🏾
Your depression phase is normal. You’ve undergone a ton of life changes in a short period of time. Moving to a new state, buying a new house, marriage, blended families, all that! It’s okay to take time to adapt to an entirely different life. You’ll be fine💛
Sorry you’ve been feeling this way ❤. You should get plugged into a church and a small group or something so that you can start meeting friends. Don’t give the Devil so much credit and recognition. When you feel attacked, speak the word of God over your life and fight back with praise/ worship music. That helps me a lot. I’m glad you’re seeing a counselor too. God’s got you 🙏🏾
@Feyi great advice about getting plug in a church and a small group. We have definitely got to keep God in the equation. Iron sharpens iron and that's a good way to meet and make new friends.
God will lead you to the right church. She just moved to Atlanta, so you have too pray about finding the right church, and it take God’s guidance to do so. When you move from your home church to another state, doesn’t mean the church is not in you, you are the church. She will plug into a church, give her the time to do so. Depression is REAL! I lost my mother last January and we we VERY close! I recently stepped out on faith moved to Atlanta in August with my three daughters and I’ve been depressed since I’ve gotten here. So completely understand. I have literally no one but my fiancé here and it’s draining! Maya keep your head up and put God first in everything. You inspire me soooo much!
I've been married going on 3 years soon and I still do my solo dates. Hubby understands that I need to do it and he is a peach. Occasionally on weekends he has to spend a night or two away from me because of work, so I take advantage of those nights and make sure I'm intentional about self care. I get my nails done, get a pedicure/manicure, get my hair professionally shampooed and I get glammed up and take myself out. Don't feel guilty for what you're doing. I'm so happy for you dear.
Maya, I moved to Tulsa Oklahoma for school. And I slipped into depression, couldn’t stop crying. Girl I was going through! I’m better now, and you will be too.

Hi Maya, I feel you on the loneliness you speak of. You have experienced a change with moving to a new city, this is something we Africans that leave our country and continent to travel to the states for studies face. However, we have found that the best way to cope with this change and reject depression is to immerse ourselves in various societies and groups that will breed friendships and a community for us. You can try joining church groups, reading clubs, workout groups, hiking groups, or whatever society of interest you deem fit. It’s very natural to feel this way, don’t beat yourself up about your feelings, you’ve got this. Stay blessed!
You’re not complaining. You’re being open and honest. Also, it is suggested that you speak about they way you feel, it actually helps. Stay strong. Lean on your daughter and your man.

I’m a native of Atlanta and both my parents lived in Atlanta until they passed. I cannot imagine moving to a new city and buying a house while living out of state…all by myself. I am in flordia alone and the person I moved here for and was with for six years he passed away last year Christmas Eve. I have no friends but my two kids . You have inspired me to get dressed up and go out even if alone time to move forward. I also call out your name in prayer to God when I pray. May prosper and have God favor in Jesus nam.
It does not matter how blessed you have. It's something internally. Just continue with therapy. Sometimes we're just trying to do everything on our own and it's just so much we become overwhelmed.

Yes God has a way of reminding you when you are the brink of just wanting to take the easy way out. Sometimes I get discouraged or annoyed and He always send someone to tell me how they admire how I carry myself. I’m like wow He really knows his child and what I need when I need it.

Just got married, had to relocate and leave everything (in ATL) to be where my husband is (in Houston), no friends, job hunting etc. I have to work through the feelings of depression daily and all I hear is "you should be happy... You got a man, you at home chilling, etc".I'm grateful for all of that but it's still hard when one blessing leads to life changes everywhere. 🤷🏽♀️ Appreciate your transparency 🙏

Thank you for being honest about depression. As for myself, I don’t have any support for when I speak about how I feel. My own husband would reply with those words of “you have everything you want, are you looking for attention?” feeling down for me is not something I can talk to anyone about.

Whew! I also moved cross-country just recently… from Chicago to Houston. And mannnn! It can be very lonely starting your life over somewhere so foreign or just so far from your support system! Although I’m single with no kids, I can relate!! Moving long distance is probably the hardest thing I’ve ever done🥺💕

Hi Maya. Thank you for your transparency. I have never related to you in any other video more than I have in this one! I found your channel earlier this year while battling severe depression. It was a dark time for me: feeling lonely, sad & crying all the time due to people very close to me, leaving my life. Although I am married 20 years, solo dates and practicing self-care have helped me so much in my healing journey. It has made such a difference in how I feel about myself and I am loving myself so much more! I’m also starting my weight loss journey this month so I can start dressing up for my solo dates bc I’m not there yet lol. Congratulations on choosing your wedding date and venue. Jeff is such a gentleman, he’s so sweet, attentive and treats you like a Queen. Every woman deserves that kind of treatment! PS: That Kayali Lovefest 48 Burning Cherry is AMAZING! Praying for you Maya! It’s really hard to move to another state leaving your family and friends behind. I did it over 25 years ago and it was so difficult. I use to cry almost every day but after pressing through and a lot of praying I grew to really like where I’m living still to this day. I just had to trust God and be intentional about building my tribe of extending family for me and my children. I created family with several friends and their families. We did holidays, birthdays and other celebrations together just like i would do with my family back home. What I know is God will always give us what we need if we ask and trust him for it. You are a wonderful and caring person and i”m sure you will be able to create family for you and your daughter and son to be husband.❤❤❤

I am in flordia alone and the person I moved here for and was with for six years he passed away last year Christmas Eve. I have no friends but my two kids . You have inspired me to get dressed up and go out even if alone time to move forward. I also call out your name in prayer to God when I pray. May prosper and have God favor in Jesus nam.

It does not matter how blessed you have. It's something internally. Just continue with therapy. Sometimes we're just trying to do everything on our own and it's just so much we become overwhelmed.

Yes God has a way of reminding you when you are the brink of just wanting to take the easy way out. Sometimes I get discouraged or annoyed and He always send someone to tell me how they admire how I carry myself. I’m like wow He really knows his child and what I need when I need it.

Thank You for sharing that. Going through that myself. People tend to look at my life and say you having nothing to complain about or be depressed about but they simply just dont have a clue. Depression is not based on material things. Its deeper than that. I'm praying for you and I know you will get through it. :)

Thank you for sharing this. I feel the same way and have felt so alone. Just got married, had to relocate and leave everything (in ATL) to be where my husband is (in Houston), no friends, job hunting etc. I have to work through the feelings of depression daily and all I hear is "you should be happy... You got a man, you at home chilling, etc".I'm grateful for all of that but it's still hard when one blessing leads to life changes everywhere. 🤷🏽♀️ Appreciate your transparency 🙏

Thank you for being honest about depression. As for myself, I don’t have any support for when I speak about how I feel. My own husband would reply with those words of “you have everything you want, are you looking for attention?” feeling down for me is not something I can talk to anyone about.

Whew! I also moved cross-country just recently… from Chicago to Houston. And mannnn! It can be very lonely starting your life over somewhere so foreign or just so far from your support system! Although I’m single with no kids, I can relate!! Moving long distance is probably the hardest thing I’ve ever done🥺💕

I moved from st louis as a newlywed and cried for the 1st year due to loneliness. I understand. You have a stay at home job. Once you get out and start attending church and school and neighborhood activities you will meet new people. Also maybe there is an alumni chapter that you can join. You will be fine

Hi Maya. Thank you for your transparency. I have never related to you in any other video more than I have in this one! I found your channel earlier this year while battling severe depression. It was a dark time for me: feeling lonely, sad & crying all the time due to people very close to me, leaving my life. Although I am married 20 years, solo dates and practicing self-care have helped me so much in my healing journey. It has made such a difference in how I feel about myself and I am loving myself so much more! I’m also starting my weight loss journey this month so I can start dressing up for my solo dates bc I’m not there yet lol. Congratulations on choosing your wedding date and venue. Jeff is such a gentleman, he’s so sweet, attentive and treats you like a Queen. Every woman deserves that kind of treatment!

(John 16:33) I remember when I was feeling alone when I was in college and I prayed to God that he would send me a friend. Praying for you Maya! It’s really hard to move to another state leaving your family and friends behind. I did it over 25 years ago and it was so difficult. I use to cry almost every day but after pressing through and a lot of praying I grew to really like where I’m living still to this day. I just had to trust God and be intentional about building my tribe of extending family for me and my children. I created family with several friends and their families. We did holidays, birthdays and other celebrations together just like i would do with my family back home. What I know is God will always give us what we need if we ask and trust him for it. You are a wonderful and caring person and i”m sure you will be able to create family for you and your daughter and son to be husband.❤❤❤
