Thank you so much for posting this video. I just got my 4th piercing in my ear, right before the cartilage and this was the first time I went to a shop and they used a needle and not a gun. I love this method better. I will be purchasing the Saline Wound Wash in the morning and more paper towel.
What you said is what my piercer told me to do. I used River City Tattoo in my area. No turning or spinning, only spray front and back, use a paper towel to wipe up the residue and use corner of paper towel to get under earrings to get crusty stuff when needed. I was told to keep my earrings in for 3 whole months and then I could change out earrings. Also, avoid pools if I can in those first 3 months.
Thank you! I was super excited when I left the piercing shop (yesterday!) That I forgot what she told me to do 😅 your video was informative, succinct, and pleasant to watch! Thank you! :)
It makes me so mad that I told people for months to spin their earrings every day when I worked at Claire's because that's what they told me to say and also we told people to use q-tips 🙃
People be talking a lot of shit about their own piercings. What went well for them could end up hurting you. Plus, a lot of people making videos on this topic aren't pros and don't always know what they're doing.
I was told told to use qtips or cotton with piercing solution or cooled boiled water with salt. Soak the cotton ball hold it close to the piercing and let squeeze above the piercing so it can just dripp over it.

Honestly bro your vid is highly informative, kinda like a one-stop-shop! I'm glad I watched, it really cemented the info I've been gathering & analyzing. Now I'm ready to treat my new piercing correctly!
My parents both tell me to spin the jewelry so it doesnt grow or get swallowed by my ears. Ive been watching roly for a while and i started doubting them so this time around, I'm doing my own thing and follow these videos.
should I clean it the same day I got it pierced or wait till the next day ? also when I spray it do I spray it just on top of the earring and leave it or do I push up the earring from the back and spray under it ?
Thank you for this video. The solution that my piercer sold me and told me to use has a strong oder and the vapors cause irritation to my eyes and makes me feel queasy. Definitely will get and use the Neilmed spray instead. Also will stop turning my earrings back and forth as suggested by the piercer.
So this might just be a me problem, but I’m really struggling to get in and around the earring. I also am having a rough time cleaning the back of the earring. Am I ok if I just spray the earrings??

I had my double forward helix piercing a week ago. I follow the piercer advice to soak it to salt water. As I clean the side I accidentally hit the one on top and now its swelling like crazy to the point that the swelling starts to eat the jewelry. Any advice about this will be deeply appreciated. 😔
If the swelling persists for days you’re gonna want to talk to your piercer to get longer jewelry. It’ll give room for swelling and allow it to heal with the right amount of room. If the swelling goes down well with longer jewelry then you can size down again.
I’m glad I watched this video, I got both earlobes and the left nostril pierced and I got the Johnson’s baby soap and that Neomed spray. I wasn’t sure how to use any of it so I was using Qtips. But thanks now I know not too.

This happened to me, too, well over 20 years ago in my mid teens. I had 2nd and 3rd ear lobe piercings by the same place, and both got badly infected and left me with tiny scars. I wonder now if it's because they told me to twist the earrings once a day after cleaning them with soap and warm water. I'm looking to get my ears repierced soon on my 41st birthday at a nearby tattoo shop. Thankfully, their piercer is highly knowledgeable, well experienced, and highly trusted in the local community and they've been happy to chat with me via private message to inform and reassure me.
It’s been a week since I got my helix piercing. I went to the gym couple of times. I always keep my hair up and avoid touching my piercing. As soon as I get home, I clean my piercing with soap and water. Then dry with tissue and apply after care solution. So far my piercing is healing nicely
What about a old ear lobe piercing that seems infected? I’ve had it for 24 years and never had any problems or been infected before. It’s sore, with a fever, pus coming out of the hole, and what feels like a knot in it. 😟
You should see a doctor and/or dermatologist, that’s a long time for a piercing to be behaving that way. Your body just might not like it even after all this time
My 7 year old just got her ears pierced about 3 weeks ago. I'm using Wound Wash from Walmart. The earrings move when I help her clean her ears just from holding her ear to spray the solution. We haven't had any issues but I'm worried it will take longer to heal. Plus, I'm afraid the ball will loosen and she'll lose her earrings. I want to check it, but I can't touch them.
My piercer told me to put the saline solution on a q tip and wipe around the stud, then spin and rotate it. I can see benefits of spin and no spin but now I'm confused.
Warning if you get the NeilMed wound wash. A LOT comes out when you spray it, I got a nose full of saline when I got my septum pierced. It sucks, so do it after a shower while still in the bathtub if you don’t get the one with the mist sprayer because it will result in a mess
Just got my second lobe piercing and my piercer gave me the exact same instructions but didn’t tell me why. I’m glad you explained the logic behind the instructions.
I know you say keep it in 3 to 4 months before changing the jewelry to another thing or 2 months minimum keep the same jewelry till your lobe heals but that does vary especially from person to person some people might have there peircing healed in a few weeks others many months
highly recommend buying a saline solution for your piercings as this will be your best low effort way to care for them. just spray twice a day and don't use q-tips to clean around, just a folded paper towel and you can always let the warm water of your shower wash off the little crusties 🫶
Spraying my piercing with saline solution literally doesn’t help get the crusties off. I can soak my piercing for 10 minutes and it will get so much build up. It looks like I’m not even cleaning them. I make sure to dry them with a hair dryer too. Ugh so frustrating.
