I used to love playing this game with a friend on my SNES back in '95. Like the description for the video says "Really cool, really a deluxe version.", it probably improved upon everything that the original game had.
Fun fact: Koji Igarashi, from Castlevania fame, worked on this game as a programmer!! If im not mistaken, it was the project right before symphony of the night.
This flashy intro almost made me epileptic. Also, the expectators sound like a blender turned on. Superb spritework and sfx (narrator, ball control sounds). It's a shame I could never get used to the controls, and by this, could never (EVER) get into this franchise like...everyone I know.

If I had to choose a soccer/futbol game to play (not a fan of the sport myself, but I know it's worldwide appeal), this one would be it. Konami kept it arcade style, fast paced, and looks good. This really is a lengthy series, right into the PS1 era, and IMO the best soccer game made.

Interesting you should say that - my brother played this to death and was good on level 5 but always struggled to score more than a handful of goals per match. This does look more like level 3 (which is the highest level I could ever play lol), and the AI players don’t appear to be tackling as much as I remember they do in level 5. But...maybe this player is just very good and my memory is poor.. 🤷♂️
I remember that I chose Italy because Roberto Baggio was there (called in the game with a strange name)... in attack I always passed the ball to him.... he was practically the only one who shot on goal 😅
More hacks/mods than bootlegs. Since many people especially from south america were bittersweet about the country selection, people started hacking or modding this game so that they could play as their country representatives or nacional teams
And ISS International Superstar Soccer on the N64 before PES dominated on playstation. They used to be 2 different software teams. The PS1 games were superior.
