One of my personal favorites - a whole Cold-War cinematic universe in the span of three hours. This is the CD re-issue. The original cassette version of the album came in a ceramic box that contained, among other things: a stick attached to a piece of rope; a Soviet-American flag like the one on the front of the second disc; and a radioactive seagull feather taken from the coast of the Irish Sea, near the Sellafield nuclear processing facility, where thousands of tons of nuclear waste are dumped into the water every day.
This was an absolute bitch to track-list and timestamp. It was also a bitch to render and upload - it took an entire day and crashed 5 times.
Next upload will be some greatly underrated material from the Reformed Faction.
They were one of the best live acts I ever saw. The 4? of them all improvising w mixed tape collage (each w deck) and microphones. The quietest concert like a chamber orchestra an$ the audience were all silent and enraptured.
god damn that sounds awesome. i remember reading in an interview w/ the zovs that something like 90% of their material remains unreleased... insane when you consider the size their *official* discography. imagine how much good stuff they produced and improvised live w/ no extant masters or bootlegs. vast quantities of awesomeness diffused into the ether
I can’t get over how phenomenal this album is. And I have powerful respect for anyone who can work their ass off to make time-stamps in the description! You’re badass!
I have powerful disdain for those who *don't* put timestamps in the description. It's the bare minimum for fuck sake.
@@TheRniz its annoying af but if thats what it takes for someone to have the time to post some obscure crazy shit then I don't mind too much
Anybody know how I can email ZF direct? The other public platforms don’t seem to work. I’m 64 now and I live in Cape Town. In the pre-email era I was in touch with them via letter-writing (I remember it was to Newcastle UK and I remember I got the address from ads in the music press then). They were really gracious in response and sent me their vinyl release at that time Shouting At The Ground. Soon afterwards I suffered a heavy personal trauma and my life kinda stopped so I never got the opportunity to say thanks. And suddenly decades have passed by! Only recently I’ve been able to checkout UA-cam and reconnect to the music again! I am so over the moon! I would like to share with them now how that LP has been an inspiration over all this time... through my hard times.... and a huge factor in inspiring me to make my own music!

"If you want to contact us about anything to do with the show, you can send us a message via Facebook or email us at zf(at)zovietfrance.org."
A cursory search of the DNS records shows that they do indeed own that domain, and have a mail server set up on it... so that's your best bet.
@@TheRniz thanks so much my friend!
@@gartherasmus8992 I'm glad to help. Most of my comments are pure stupidity, but I sift through them all anyway for rare gems like this one.
@@TheRniz thanks, mate. Yes I do understand how it is. I appreciate your time and effort. I’m all excited and revitalised again by the prospect of contacting them. One ploughs an even lonelier furrow living in the “third world” and being interested in this kind of music and being a musician yourself.
man I've been meaning to upload this forever and you beat me to the fkng punch
fkng love this album, have created so much art in my garage to these albums and other ZF
glad to see another Z:F fan!
Hello there, Zoviet France aficionado! And thank you so much for uploading this gem of a release from the mighty ZF! I bought the cd film canister looking version when it first came out and played it to death. A few years ago, it vanished, probably during a move. I was sorely pissed! So, kudos for you, you have made my day. Second edition lp box set of all their albums comes out next month I believe. Saw the listing on Solielmoon website. Cheers!
I stared at this thing with great dismay when it was released, all my format was and is exclusively on wax. Had it been released on vinyl i would have bought it. I love it. the first 4 bars sound like an inspiration to the BSG cylon theme.
This is amazing! Thanks for sharing this!
are you people taking the piss when you comment on how much you love this stuff?

Why do I like Zoviet France? Just a unique post-industrial group that sounded like no one else. They maybe borrowed some ideas from This Heat, but unlike that this isn't rock n roll. Maybe the Hafler Trio came close to being like Zoviet France but Hafler Trio's approach is completely different. Zoviet France might just be the 'primitive' music that John Fahey tried to do much of his life.
listen chief, ya gotta be young skinny and good looking to dig the hip shit
