  • What is a Seizure?
A Seizure refers to an electrical disturbance in the brain. Seizures may cause a person to have Convulsions, but this is not always the same case.
According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), if a person is experiencing seizures, there are several first-aid habits, someone can do to help them.
    Like:
    - Putting them on the floor, so they do not fall and injure themselves
    - Putting them onto their side so they can breathe more comfortable
    - Clearing the area of dense or sharp objects
    - Placing something soft and flat under their head
    - Loosening or removing anything around their neck, like a tie, necklace or scarf
    - Calling an ambulance if the Seizure lasts for more than 5 minutes

I had a seizure yesterday, never experienced anything like it felt like i was dying. But its maybe because my alcohol consumption is alot nowadays

My husband’s also in the same boat, seizures just started occurring a few months ago but he drinks heavily all day long. How’s your progress with them? Has changing your drinking habits or what you drink made a difference? We think it has something to do with him drinking liquor or mixing liquor with wine/beer. He runs a company and doesn’t have insurance, horribly nerve racking experience. I barely sleep at night. What’s also weird is last 2-3 times he sleep walks or gets out of his sleeps, becomes disoriented and then slips into it. He’s never fully awake when they happen though. This past time ge went to take a shower after 1 happened around 1:30 am, got back up around 6am to shower..sat back down on the bed and it happened again. We’ve never had them happen within hours of each other. It’s typically once a month at most. Curious how your experience differs from his, if they’re both alcohol related.

@@kurtkon5772 I’ve been dealing with alcohol related seizures with my husband for a year. He’s 35, we’ve been together since we were 17. I just lost him 2 weeks ago, to a seizure while he was out of town on a work trip. He passed in his sleep because no one was there to help him during his seizure. He left behind 3 kids ranging from 16-3 years old, and now I’m a widow. He just started to slow down on drinking and take his meds, he finally wanted better and wasn’t able to be fully successful with changing. He struggled a lot with his drinking but had everything else in life under control. I truly hope you can hear my story and make the necessary changes for the people that love you!!

I saw an male autistic adult who is having a seizure for the first time while I was working at a trampoline park and it's terrifying 😳 so I came to the rescue. I tried not to scare my co workers for what happened after that on the security camera and I did the right thing

I am lost and confused myself, have been doing with epilepsy seizures now for the past 3 years. I have never experienced them before not in childhood, or in adolescents, not until 3 months after I turned 39. I did serve six years in the military I have one tour in Iraq a 15-month tour. By the time of the seizures occurred I had already been out of the army for nine years. I was driving when my first seizure occurred, I really didn't make it out of the driveway, all I do remember was getting in my truck, to head towards my brothers workplace to help him load a trailer. I totaled my truck crashing across the street into a neighbor's mobile home trailer. I do not have any family history of seizures or epilepsy. I described it as a blackout total blackness, imagine yourself being in a pitch-black room can't see Jack not even the hand in front of your face. Still try to describe this stuff to the VA, they swear up and down that I had a syncopal episode some type of faint or pass out because I use the word blackout. I spoke to my neurologist and told him when I use blackout I am describing a loss of consciousness not a faint I think I would know the difference for being in the military for 6 years, between faint pass out and fall out, for doing long change-of-command ceremonies and seeing young soldiers pass out for keeping their knees locked up oh, shoot I you knew that form High School JROTC. I'm just about experiencing all types in the book of epilepsy,Grand-mal type, too complex focal impaired awareness, as well as nocturnal seizures during sleep, when I have them I do not have any memory. Now it's to the point where I can feel jolts in parts of my head, and have strong dizzy spells feeling like you are intoxicated, I don't drink anymore I haven't been for a long time but I know the feeling. I don't do any drugs. It just hit me one day out of the blue bam. I am not aware of any traumatic brain injuries while in service, be more like the possibility of toxic exposure to the burn pits while in Iraq. That's what my neurologist keep saying, head injury or toxic exposure.

I feel you on seizures coming out of nowhere. I had my first 3 years ago messing around with white. Stopped abruptly then got one all of a sudden. Never had a history or injury prior. The gave keepra, it works to prevent. Tried to wane off within the last month. 6 days off got a seizure last Friday, back on keppra. Fine but what can we do to totally get rid of these.

I dis like how they don't see seizures as a disability. I to is. Depending on degree and cause it can be a intense disability. And job hunti you have to inform them you have seizures or workman comp etc will not vover an on job injury or say seizure caused the injury. The seizure itself along wy recovery time can vary. At times disorientate, confused, lack of memory of a mess thinking exhaustion etc.
