One of the reasons why I left Atlanta, GA. The "takeovers" were getting out of hand. The street racing and cruises were always being watched by GPD on the ground and in the air. Me trying to keep up with "the cool kids" was burning a hole in my tank and wallet. Even though I've never been the one to run and get caught; I usually give in and go home after the first or second stop through the city. I'm glad I didn't get too far into that lifestyle, and now I'm in an insanely smaller city in Arizona all for the better. (Knock on MineCraft wood) maybe I can hold out long enough to let my record clean up a bit from my own speeding and I won't go insane in the process. I also had/chose to leave all the social media behind so no one can find me and I won't stoop to going back out riding with another group. I guess that would be my addiction; the meets, the cruise and running fast.
Agreed- ATL has gotten so bad. But now I’m in a more country side of GA and the races here are legit. No one trying to shut down an intersection. Only 500+ whp cars being organized and leaving in one piece.
PINKFLAMINGOUSA brought a lot of bad attention to that area from what I can tell. Mixing underground, rap culture, and fast cars pulled in a lot of heat / bodies to a scene that already had a general disinterest in authority. Maybe I'm speculating too much but those takeovers look like riots with cars. Throw in a couple rap celebs poppin' out for these events and here come a fuck ton of dick riders entering into a space that they have ZERO respect for. Don't get me wrong though, the content is pretty sick to watch but it for sure could be handled with a bit more grace. I think not too long ago PF finally held something that was regulated on a private / public compound or track. I could be wrong but it seems like they know as a brand going legit is the way to longevity.
The only reason Iowa has so many street racers is because there is one track in iowa and its 2 hours away from where the main population is. If there were to be a Drag strip built in Des moines, it would severly drop the amount of street racing
Lol the fast movies never influenced the people in my area much. We all got hooked from the "get away in stockholm" videos and the early gumball rallys with tech a demics and Datto and his M3 showcar.
I actually love the speed cameras in the UK. Pretty much no cops on the road and you lean where the cameras are so you know where to push it and where to slow down 😂 Plus they have signs warning you before you get to them usually
Does anyone use the electric license plate covers there? Seems like you could flip it before you go under the camera, only issue I could think is if it grabs a pic of your face but lowkey might be able to do window tints or something simple like a ski mask lol
Same here in Canada. Sometimes there are warnings for speeding camera and sometimes they put fake warning to slow you down. I've got to know each speeding camera in my city and with the help of Waze or a driving app that detects cameras, it has become easy. I'll be purchasing a radar detector soon too.
Where I live, the cops don't really care about tint or mods anymore, honestly. I've heard and seen people with heavy tint or mods and cops don't care. My car is a bit modified and so far haven't been pulled over once. I will get tint very soon though. Also, you can get electronic license late flip cover that flips up your license plate with the push of a remote. Its honestly amazing. I was thinking of getting it.
Been autco crossing and it was a little slow paced. Been running 1ll3gal togue up in the mountains(uphill only) and there is no comparison between the two for exhilaration and driver skill required. We pre run and mark the course for hazards and no one ever uses the roads we run. Find a place like that and it might as well be sanctioned.
Yea I did that once and pushed my driver skill a bit far and maybe my car. ended up 70 feet down a mountain car became a new breeded called a super convertible as there wasn't too much rood left. on the bright side my stupidity will go there again with more restraint lol. I loved it when it was going well and like you said no cars and only other like mided idiots were there. I think togue is amazing but it is such a humbing experience of showing restraint and improving the drivers skills, as well as having the right mods( brakes and tires) to do it safely.
Hi, Hawaii here, to explain that, lots of short bursty bits of curvy road that are fun do drive on here, not to mention, on Oahu specifically, H2 is straight as all hell but filled with so many divets and dents in the road it makes it wildly weird, and H3 has so beautiful views but most importantly has a wonderful tunnel. My personal favorite road, that i drive at a totally reasonable speed on, has next to no drivers on past 9pm, but that's cause people are afraid of driving off a cliff and into the ocean. One other really well known, locally, road is Tantalus with a lot of alleged drifting going on there. Mostly tho why we have a lot of write ups for street racing is as simple as if there are two or more people driving in a "visually competitive nature" on the road, exceeding 15 miles over the posted speed, it counts as street racing. As a fun fact, most of H1 is 45 miles per hour on posted speed, most of everyone who drives on it drives about 60-65 mph, so in order to get the citation, which can lead to a lot of false positives. edit: also forgot to mention there is no real track on Oahu, and also modified corrado when?
@lscansir cured I'm talking about the doods that show up in they moms suv and hicks with the trucks that try to stunt and get the meet popped, idk since a year or 2 ago everyonr stopped showing up to the regular spots where there woulf be awesome tuner cars and domestics
Hawaii definitely deserved the 5th place spot there are literally cruises every weekend, drag races and tons of modified cars that people daily. And when two of you meet up on the highway its on to the 40 roll
Never been to Hawaii, so correct me if I'm wrong please: I'd think for the native Hawaiians who've seen the islands from one end to the other, it would get kind of boring, like living in a small town on the mainland. That's why I'd think street racing is popular there, simply out of boredom.
@@mysterycitizen2135 I think there is some truth to that but also people here (not necessarily native hawaiians) take a lot of inspiration from Japan and their culture. JDM is huge here especially Hondas. I'd say that is where a lot of the popularity comes from personally.
I used to race down H-1 and the Nimitz underpass all the time, it was by my house so I could just head out at night and be right there. H-3 was great too for the tunnel once you hit it
I live in San Diego, if you want to experience driving on a full size car racing track(not dirt), you will need to travel to apple valley speedway(2.5 hours away) or Chuckwalla Raceway(3.5 hours away with the bonus of being in the middle of the desert). Not to mention the excessive track fees on top of the travel fees and times. City governments need to realize that while racetracks don't bring a return on investment, the lives it will save and the joy it will bring will be more than enough to justify itself.
I just moved to Victorville, I didn't even know there was a raceway in Apple Valley! I'll have to check it out, cause Apple Valley/Victorville/Hesperia are right next to each other
Also, a big portion of the crowds has just turned into shutdown events where everyone drifts in their dodge chargers at an intersection with everybody standing in a circle. Not as dangerous but still
One thing. Im from Canada and where I live right now there are no race tracks what so ever that are in the city or close. Our race track was shut down in 2011 and I actually read an article recently about street racing coming back to the streets of where I live because of the closure of the track and how you said about people wanting to have more fun. I'm one of those people and I really want to get into street racing. The risk seems fun but it does have its consequences. Play till you can't no more.
Same cops who burn you for having a fuckin radar detector in your car whether or not it's turned off just because they don't want to work for an arrest
Street racing in my area used to be so much fun. It was simple if u wanted to watch u hung out. If u wanted to run u got in line. U ran what u brought against who ever was in line next to u. Now every one is a negotiator. Like a episode of pinks.
I've made a map around green bay, its literally a giant circle track, I've done it a few times, mapped out all potential exits in case of cop cars, etc etc
Do they still do that? I haven't been on East Wash since the speed was dropped. I've been going to Janesville on Milton Ave once a month. It's like a mile of 40 mph with little tiny bit of local traffic.
@@Thelegendofaltroid Hello, would I be able to get your map? I live close there. I've been looking for somewhere to go fast and not get caught by cops if you know what I mean.
Hawaii is number 5 probably cause we don't have any permanent tracks here, so all we can race is the street. Also lots of imports means people want to race them against each other all the time. H-1 has good straights, and H-3 has an amazing tunnel to just floor it through
Street racing will always be around. In some form or another. Given all the takeovers during lockdown proved that. One good thing about all the pop up takeovers was it made it so easy to do a Redline run from LA to Vegas at night. When cops where being directed to said takeovers.
I have street raced since I was 13 years old . Even now in my 40s I have a tuned 97 Acura Integra that is built by a tuner and moonshiner and being finished by myself . One of the differences between my tuner and most tuners is its built mainly for evasion . It can handle a dirt road at a 100 plus as easily as a BMW on a paved track ( yeah its sweet ) . That said , I still enjoy driving it ( though it's in storage now and will be till 2025 for personal reasons ) but I don't really street race any more . The problem I found is movies like Fast and Furious and video games have made people who have no skill or sense of personal responsibility think you simply drive as fast as you can . They also have extreme tunnel vision with no comprehension of their surroundings. This has lead to skilled drivers being a little risky to unskilled drivers being extreme dangers on the road . Because of this not only do I no longer engage in it like I used to but I think most of us , especially from my generation no longer partake in it . It's not that we loss the passion but we don't want to be part of the unprecedented recklessness being wrought by X Box drivers who think THE CREW is how you obtain street skill 🤔
Short answer: It's still around. It's been here before us and it'll be here after. People are just starting to use license plate covers so no one can record their license plate when they do something illegal. One thing I don't understand is why people race on busy roads. I live in Ohio and I've seen probably 100s of empty backroads that would be perfect. Not the most morally right thing but one of my bucket list goals is to go to a street-race. This has been a major topic in the past month though. I've seen multiple vids addressing street racing within a few days.
There's nowhere to race in South Central Alaska other than a drag strip, a tiny asphalt oval and most lakes in the winter... So, we only got the streets. I don't do that much anymore, but Anchorage to Wasilla was the 38 mile sprint course of the past
Street racing is still a thing in Phoenix and Texas. When I got to Phoenix (2018) the car culture was phenomenal compared to Dallas. BUT it’s gotten worse as time has gone on and the takeovers. But people still street race. In Phoenix we would have Del Taco meets on Tuesday iirc and they would race for fun and for money if you challenged someone.
What's the name of the remix at 0:00? I can tell it's based on the Plain Jane Kean Dysso Remix, but it's obviously different, more Dubstep-y. Anyone know where I can find it?
It's because so many people post themselves hooning and breaking the law on social media, thus not only do people get the wrong idea of street racing, but also laws get stricter ,just like japan, back in the 70s to the 2000s touge racing was extremely popar, but it started dying out when they started putting bumps on all the curves so you couldn't drift
ive been watching yall since yall started years ago but never subbed. just did. Hope for great things in the future from this channel. happy you have grown and continue to do so.
Its pretty much alive its just that you have to know where to look even over at Japan the most notorious street racing team Mid Night is still around but they don't accept outsiders anymore only friends and family
Street racing never went anywhere, its just gotten quiet, and has been overshadowed by "takeovers" and fake car guys in challengers/chargers which has made it harder for real street racers and enthusiasts to exist in our niche. cheap power and social media (mainly TikTok) is to blame... built not bought.
I loved street racing back in the day. Super Cool. I'm making my 2000 Toyota Camry LE kinda sporty and I don't care what people think. This is for me only.
bloody sick man. hell of a sleeper, work with what youve got and live your life. fuck what anyone else thinks, I(random person on the internet) love the idea
I come from VA. You'd be surprised how many high powered cars we have. I constantly see a 1400 hp mustang, big turbo civic, and all sorts of builds at the meets. But the secret is, we go to Maryland as we don't get totally destroyed for street racing. VA would be very high up your list if we didn't go to MD for the E85 and loose laws. Lol H20i
Remember back then where there was a simple drag races on closed roads instead of a bunch of idiots went for a T-junction takeover and spinning in circles on the streets while blocking people who might in an emergency situation which might involves death? Yeah... Sweet memories.
As a former street racer I'll say this, the police are cracking down (rightly so) and the idiots are out in force, racing in massive groups, in traffic, etc it's gotten to stupid look at TX2K been once ever again.
Average Joe's car is actually too fast for comfort in 2020s. The cheap Tesla model 3 has no business in doing sub 4 0-60s but it does. Random man's crossover will do the same in 5 or quicker. When the stock cars are too fast to just run down the straight for shits and giggles, it's no longer for shits and giggles. When it's not shits and giggles the move to professional circuit. Now it's just street takeovers and burnouts coz it seems to be at a reasonable speed. But they still hit everyone else coz the driver mod ain't there.
Im painting the streets black with my tires I a small village where my family lives and there are no stoplights, security cameras and police never patrols around it. My slice of heaven!
im part of the hawaii scene (oahu) and we only have autoX here. the course is way too small so racing on mountains and coast roads at night give way more seat time
If I got 6 tickets in the mail for speeding on the highway because I was doing 68 in a 60 I’d be so mad, especially when cops will do 85 in a 60 with no lights on.
They closed down all the local tracks, closest 1/8 mile is a 40 minute drive, and auto cross only happens once a month or so. They’ve removed all the safe places to race
Nope, never been in trouble for street racing I learned a long time ago my j body is not going to out run much of anything. Still doesn't stop me from dropping a gear and winding the rpm's up for my own amusement.
Just a fun fact, the reason why street racing is so popular in Hawaii is mainly due to the fact that we are on (an) island(s) with no tracks so people who want to race are forced to take to the streets. Most prominently togue racing tantalus (which you should search up its pretty nuts) not so much drag/rolling races🤙🏼
It's actually really good, that people don't do risky stuff around other people as much as they used to. This is also why I love underground drift communities so much. Most of these people only do shit, when either no-one's around or on isolated roads and spots where there's almost no chance of anyone appearing
I have received over 30 tickets for various racing related incidents. I stopped racing after I started a family.. Money was too tight..But every once in a blue moon I feed the wolf.
Hey Alex if you had to choose between a 2013-2015 Hyundai Genesis 3.8 Coupe or a 2017-2019 Infiniti Q60 3.0t as your fun car to mod which would you choose?
A lot of factors hurt but street takeovers definitely did it in. Blocking off intersections, stopping traffic to be loud, burn rubber and gas and have a high chance of damaging property and injuring/killing other drivers, bystanders, and onlookers… it’s not a good look on us.
I feel like street racing is coming back even more but im in Cali it’s all about small town roads out in the country, everyone runs from a dig and we always make sure there is no way anyone/ multiple ppl can get hurt
Plus, it's hard to find a good project build now. A clapped out Miata is no less than $6k where I live. That's the only reason why I don't have a project car right now. Project cars are ridiculously expensive right now, just waiting for the prices to drop.
Not surprised TN made the list. We got the smokeys and windy farm land back roads away from the city. On top of that, there aren't really any GOOD race tracks without crossing state lines to go to tracks in or near Atlanta. All those places are pricey so its much easier to just get active on the interstate or up in the mountains. The mountains cater to well tuned/balanced cars because crazy HP is just gonna land you in a ditch if you cant put it down or handle hairpins. You'll see most people there because its generally cheaper to build a car with turns in mind than build a 60-160 car.
This is dangerous for some people… some of us are just builders that like to test our cars with friends when there’s no one around. We don’t have near by tracks, auto cross groups, or anything like that. The colleges around here have no interest in setting that up, so we’re kinda screwed as car guys/gals

@@matthew_natividad MFGhost doesn't seem worth it though. The racing seems dull.
Granted, Wangan Midnight is also hard to judge for the racing, but it's mainly about tuning and dives really deep into all the details on tuning cars.
Wangan midnight is arguably better than Initial D, it’s my No. 1 show & movie. Initial D comes second
DEVIL Z! is the shit I love that show
@@placeholder2924 true, but sadly there is no other new automotive anime out there.
Facts man as someone who lives in the metro atl area it’s impossible rn to be a car enthusiast without getting followed or stoped by cops
Takeovers are the cancer to the car scene
If there were to be a Drag strip built in Des moines, it would severly drop the amount of street racing
where i live there is no tracks except for a privet own dirt oval and most just street race in the country side
Lol the fast movies never influenced the people in my area much. We all got hooked from the "get away in stockholm" videos and the early gumball rallys with tech a demics and Datto and his M3 showcar.
Mischief baby!!!!
OG definitely know your stuff
I actually love the speed cameras in the UK. Pretty much no cops on the road and you lean where the cameras are so you know where to push it and where to slow down 😂 Plus they have signs warning you before you get to them usually
The same here in Sweden. We either run on closed industrial area at night or on the countryside where we race between the speed cameras. 😃
Also just take your plate off and fly by them
Been autco crossing and it was a little slow paced.
I’m snitching

Next episode should be what happened to car meets cus it's mostly regular traffic and trucks now
@lscansir cured are u trying to say that's what car meets are about???
Going with that, I'd definitely love to to visit Hawaii one day and make the most out of it
I used to race down H-1 and the Nimitz underpass all the time, it was by my house so I could just head out at night and be right there. H-3 was great too for the tunnel once you hit it
@@Demonslayer-zd6zm H-3 tunnel runs hit different
Fellow Canadian here, you hit the nail on the head
What killed street racing in the US ???
Street takeovers
Facts
All the non cool kids in highschool became cops and shut it down 😂

Street racing in my area used to be so much fun. It was simple if u wanted to watch u hung out. If u wanted to run u got in line. U ran what u brought against who ever was in line next to u. Now every one is a negotiator. Like a episode of pinks.
In Madison Wisconsin we have this road called east Washington, and a lot of people do laps around the capitol with a pack of 20-30 cars, that is fun
Not as many people visit the wash anymore it’s kinda sad
I've made a map around green bay, its literally a giant circle track, I've done it a few times, mapped out all potential exits in case of cop cars, etc etc
Do they still do that? I haven't been on East Wash since the speed was dropped. I've been going to Janesville on Milton Ave once a month. It's like a mile of 40 mph with little tiny bit of local traffic.
@@Thelegendofaltroid Hello, would I be able to get your map? I live close there. I've been looking for somewhere to go fast and not get caught by cops if you know what I mean.
Can you guys do a video on Kanjo Honda wheel and tire fitment? 😎
Hawaii is number 5 probably cause we don't have any permanent tracks here, so all we can race is the street. Also lots of imports means people want to race them against each other all the time. H-1 has good straights, and H-3 has an amazing tunnel to just floor it through
Maybe if there were more tracks for us to go to, street racing would be lessened.
The way he said Oregon gave me chills
That fucked with my soul

Takeovers = cancer
Racing is still alive in the NY/NJ. Bronx I know for sure shuts the Hutch down
Tai boogie
Word 2 mom dukes. I was surprised he didn’t mention us. But then again we have turn to cat and mouse on the highway .
Takeovers happened. And it’s now wayyyy to hot at least over here near atl
Atl is hell lol
Its pretty much alive its just that you have to know where to look even over at Japan the most notorious street racing team Mid Night is still around but they don't accept outsiders anymore only friends and family
Maybe it’s just me, I don’t call “drag racing” street racing. Anybody can hammer the gas and shift in a straight line.
A carina is better for that
The reason why we race at night is we can drive away without being caught. but nowadays there is too many cameras
Lol H20i
Very true , I live in md and I see va cars come down here a lot
do you guys have a multipiece wheel section on your website?
We still racing out in south Georgia, I mean mexico.
It's due to the takeover/Sideshow crap
Average Joe's car is actually too fast for comfort in 2020s. The cheap Tesla model 3 has no business in doing sub 4 0-60s but it does. Random man's crossover will do the same in 5 or quicker. When the stock cars are too fast to just run down the straight for shits and giggles, it's no longer for shits and giggles. When it's not shits and giggles the move to professional circuit.
Now it's just street takeovers and burnouts coz it seems to be at a reasonable speed. But they still hit everyone else coz the driver mod ain't there.

Not that there is a good reason to street race but thats why
It's actually really good, that people don't do risky stuff around other people as much as they used to. This is also why I love underground drift communities so much. Most of these people only do shit, when either no-one's around or on isolated roads and spots where there's almost no chance of anyone appearing
Social media is what happened. Cops look for this so we end up incriminating ourselves by recording everything
I have received over 30 tickets for various racing related incidents. I stopped racing after I started a family.. Money was too tight..But every once in a blue moon I feed the wolf.
As an Idaho resident, this is true! Twin falls is very bad on street racing. I've stopped doing it and prefer to go down an empty country road.
Street racing is like an Rx7, it's cool until something goes wrong

A lot of factors hurt but street takeovers definitely did it in. Blocking off intersections, stopping traffic to be loud, burn rubber and gas and have a high chance of damaging property and injuring/killing other drivers, bystanders, and onlookers… it’s not a good look on us.

Ngl top 10 list of street racing states kinda shocked me especially #1
Not surprised TN made the list. We got the smokeys and windy farm land back roads away from the city.
On top of that, there aren't really any GOOD race tracks without crossing state lines to go to tracks in or near Atlanta.
All those places are pricey so its much easier to just get active on the interstate or up in the mountains.
The mountains cater to well tuned/balanced cars because crazy HP is just gonna land you in a ditch if you cant put it down or handle hairpins. You'll see most people there because its generally cheaper to build a car with turns in mind than build a 60-160 car.
That speed6 line killed me.
My speed3 is in my driveway with a blown oil cooler and a cooling system full of oil from it lol
I'm surprised Texas and not on the list
This is dangerous for some people… some of us are just builders that like to test our cars with friends when there’s no one around.
We don’t have near by tracks, auto cross groups, or anything like that. The colleges around here have no interest in setting that up, so we’re kinda screwed as car guys/gals
