He was beloved on the Dodgers last year, excellent clubhouse presence and before the game he said going to the Dodgers made him fall in love for the game again. If it couldn't of been done at Busch Stadium, doing it at Dodger Stadium was a good runner-up to hit 700. Nothing but love for Tio Albert.

@UCZzqEH2LmlxyycpIidKQNeg really? No pitcher wants to give up a historic homer like this. To add to this in case it's brought up by the average illogical sports fan, the Dodgers wanted to win this game, in part, because they're close to a franchise record for wins in a season. These homers tonight were not gifted.

Just throwing this out there. Compare Albert a year ago in a dodgers uniform to now; he lost weight, re-tooled his swing and came into this season determined to be valuable to his team. He had a slow start to the season but when the Machine got in gear he gave us one last performance we won't forget. Respect to one of the best hitters of all time, one of the best first baseman of all time and arguably the best right handed hitter to ever play.

Cardinals fan here (grew up in southern Illinois across the Mississippi) ... It's amazing how quiet and respectful the LA fans are during these at-bats from Pujols, and the way they cheered was like you would for a home team run. You don't usually get to see that for an opposing player, and it really made the moment awesome to watch. I would have liked to see it happen back home in Missouri, but thank you LA fans for respecting and appreciating this milestone along with anyone else who was watching that night.

I’ve watched him since I was a kid, for our summer vacation in 2006, my parents flew us out from California to St. Louis, Missouri for one reason and one reason only.. to watch my all-time favorite athlete Jose Albert Pujols. And to see him accomplish this feat is simply beautiful. He’s always been a total class act and I’m truly blessed to have witnessed his greatness and to have someone like him as someone I look up to. Not just as a baseball player but as someone who roots themselves in their faith rather than a game they play.

Albert has always been my favorite player in baseball. I've always followed him, despite my favorite team being the Cardinals he played the most for. When I learned, early this year, that he was returning to the Cardinals for his last season, I was ecstatic and did what I could to listen to any and all Cardinals games I could. And when I learned, later than that, that he was so close to getting his 700 HRs, I started getting excited. I was listening to this game the very day it was played, while I was at work, and when I suddenly vaulted the counter and cheered like crazy, my coworkers all looked at me like I was crazy until I told them what just happened. Even now, watching it again, it makes me nearly as giddy and excited as I was months ago.

These are moments that are legit once in a generation/once in a lifetime accomplishments we are witnessing now. Albert Pujols, a living Immortal, reaches 700 HRS. Aaron Judge, another in the forever growing long line of Yankee greats, going for that magical 60+ HR plateau. This is the stuff our parents, grandparents, etc. got to witness with Ruth, Maris and Aaron. I know Bonds did both as recently as 15-20 years ago with 73 and then eventually 756, respectively, but it’s just feels different no. There’s no Spector of PEDs talk, no claims of enhanced numbers, no BS about cream/clear or this/that. What we saw with Albert and 700 and what I, as most other NYY Ride or Die’s, are watching with Judge and his pursuit of Roger Maris’ 61 and beyond, is what has the eternal child inside myself realize that baseball, is and always has been, my first true love.
